Unfortunately, our stay at Katathani ended with an extremely disappointing and frustrating experience.
The day before our departure, I personally contacted the hotel and requested a late check-out, which was approved until 1:00 PM.
On the day of check-out, I was traveling with my two young children and needed a few extra minutes to change my toddler’s diaper and gather our belongings.
However, shortly after 1:00 PM, the staff began calling our room repeatedly, approximately every five minutes. What I found particularly shocking was that whenever I answered the phone, the caller would immediately hang up without saying a word, only to call again minutes later.
This was incredibly rude, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable behavior from a resort that presents itself as family-friendly.
I fully understand that check-out times must be respected. However, there is a significant difference between politely reminding guests of the check-out time and repeatedly calling and hanging up on them.
The constant interruptions made me feel extremely pressured, uncomfortable, and practically forced out of the room.
As a result, I rushed to leave without properly checking the bathroom and unfortunately left some of my personal belongings behind.
Traveling with young children can be challenging, and sometimes parents need a few extra minutes. A resort that welcomes families should demonstrate basic understanding, patience, and respect.
No guest should be made to feel harassed or unwelcome, especially after arranging a late check-out in advance.
What should have been a pleasant end to our family holiday instead left me feeling upset and disrespected.
I sincerely hope the hotel management takes this complaint seriously and addresses the staff’s unacceptable telephone etiquette and lack of professionalism.
Fantastic for Kids, But Too Crowded, Noisy and Underwhelming in so many areas
Katathani is a MASSIVE resort with fantastic facilities for children, but unfortunately, the crowds, ongoing construction, average catering and disappointing service significantly impacted our stay.
Construction & Noise – A Major Issue! The resort seems to be constantly expanding, with construction happening throughout the property, particularly around the newer Vhari Wing. Our room had construction directly above us, with constant loud banging and drilling throughout the day.
When we raised concerns about our trying to get our young children sleep in afternoons, we were advised construction continued until 6pm DAILY! Extremely frustrating that this wasn’t disclosed during booking. We ended up taking our little ones to the beach to sleep under umbrellas just to maintain some sort of afternoon routine and our own mental state.
Very disappointed with the lack of solutions offered by hotel management. Given the scale of construction, I can’t imagine all the work being completed anytime soon. Something families should seriously consider before booking!
Resort & Location: The property is enormous! Family pool suites in the Vhari Wing are a long way from the main beachfront restaurants and facilities. Buggy services are available, but waiting times are common.
The resort dominates the beachfront, leaving limited nearby restaurants or shops beyond a 7-Eleven, tourist stores and pushy suit vendors. Surrounding roads are very hilly, so exploring other areas generally requires paid transport.
Food & Beverage: One of our biggest disappointments. The Vhari restaurant offered one of the poorest buffets we’ve experienced in Thailand. Limited variety, average quality and a menu seemingly focused entirely on children, with little consideration for adults. Pls don’t get me started on the overpriced underwhelming room service.
The other beachfront restaurants require advance bookings, with no guarantee of availability even when included in your accommodation package. Food wasn’t any better, at least you get an ocean view!
Check-In: Extremely disappointing. Our arrival felt like checking into a busy shopping centre rather than a Thai resort. Cold, rushed and impersonal, with no genuine welcome. Staff raced through an overwhelming amount of information rather than making guests feel welcome.
Kids’ Facilities: This is where Katathani shines! The kids club and waterslide park are next level, with several excellent pools and plenty of activities. A fantastic setup for entertaining young children.
Overall: The resort is simply too big, busy and crowded for our taste. Add constant construction noise, average food and impersonal service, and it becomes difficult to enjoy a relaxing holiday.
If your priority is entertaining the kids, Katathani delivers. However, if you’re seeking quality dining, warm Thai hospitality and a peaceful tropical escape, I’d recommend looking elsewhere
Four visits to Katathani, and it still blows us away! Returning to a favorite resort can sometimes lose its spark, but Katathani never disappoints. It’s hands-down incredible value for money—everything is included except for drinks, making the stay so carefree. The grounds are immaculately well-kept, and the dining is better than ever. They’ve even opened up some fantastic new restaurants since our last trip, adding fresh flavors to our favorite food spots. We are already counting down the days until visit number five! Having a pool access room was a real treat!
We booked through “Luxury Escapes”as always.
Beautiful hotel in a gorgeous location. The rooms are huge, very comfortable, and spotlessly clean. Each room has bottles of drinking water which is replenished each day at no cost. We overlooked the pool in the Bhuri Wing. Breakfast had a great choice and was situated next to the beach with beautiful views. There’s a well stocked shop on site too along with a few grocery stores, clothes shops, gift shops and amazing restaurants along the Kata Noi Road only minutes walk away for all.
The staff of the hotel are the most friendly and helpful and housekeeping made sure our rooms were spotless and were restocked every day with fresh water etc. Each room has an orchid plant too, which is a nice little touch!
I would highly recommend this hotel and hope to return in the future.
We would like to give a special thank you to Pearry for her outstanding service during our stay at Katathani Phuket Beach Resort. Despite a few issues we experienced with our room, Pearry went above and beyond to help us and made us feel genuinely cared for. She even arranged for our daughter’s drink bottle to be thoroughly cleaned and returned to our room. Her kindness, professionalism and attention to detail were truly exceptional. Pearry is a credit to the resort, and we hope she receives the recognition she deserves. Thank you for making a difference to our stay! ❤️
