Excellence Never Disappoints
This was our 17th stay at an Excellence resort and our 6th visit to Excellence Riviera Cancun, and once again, they reminded us why we keep coming back. You simply can't go wrong with any of the Excellence brand resorts—they truly live up to their name.
Our vacation got off to a fantastic start with a swift trip through customs and a speedy transfer from Seasons Tours. Check-in was quick and efficient, and within minutes of arriving, we were enjoying drinks and lunch while officially settling into vacation mode.
We stayed in a Club Level Ocean Front Rooftop Suite, and it was absolutely worth the additional cost. The accommodations were beautiful, but as always, it's the people who make the real difference.
The service throughout the resort was outstanding. A special thank you to Neri at Magna for always making our breakfasts feel extra special; Joel, our Club beach concierge, for finding us the perfect spot each day and making sure we had everything we needed; Fernando from Food & Beverage for the thoughtful anniversary gift that made our celebration even more memorable; and Fernanda, our dear friend at the Sports Bar, who welcomed us like family every time we stopped by.
The only disappointment during our stay was the beach. The sargassum was the worst we've ever experienced. The staff worked tirelessly every day to remove it, but the volume was simply too much to keep up with. Walking along the beach and getting into the water just wasn't possible. This wasn't a deal breaker for us since we enjoy everything else the resort has to offer, but it's something prospective guests should consider if spending most of their vacation on the beach or in the ocean is a priority.
Overall, we give this stay a 9 out of 10, with the incredible service once again being the highlight of our trip. In fact, we enjoyed ourselves so much that we've already booked another visit for later this year. We can't wait to return!
ERC is the BEST - AMABLE & JOEL ESPECIALLY
We just returned from an 8-day, 7-night stay in an Excellence Club Ocean View Swim-Up suite, and I can confidently say we will never book another room type again. The Excellence Club experience is absolutely worth it and made our vacation feel even more special.
What keeps us coming back to Excellence Riviera Cancun isn’t just the beautiful resort, comfortable rooms, or incredible food, it’s the people. The staff genuinely treats you like family and makes you feel cared for from the moment you arrive until the moment you leave.
We made it to every restaurant during our stay, and the dining exceeded our expectations. Magna’s tomahawk steak was phenomenal, but Basmati completely stole our hearts. It was hands down our favorite restaurant, and the food was a 15/10. We were talking about going back before we had even finished our meal.
The service is what truly sets this resort apart. Amable went above and beyond every single day. She quickly learned who we were, remembered what we liked, and always took the time to chat with us and make us feel special. By the end of the trip, she felt like family. Saying goodbye was incredibly emotional. She gave me the biggest hug before we left and told us she couldn’t wait to see us again in January. She truly made our vacation unforgettable.
Joel was another standout. We bonded over our love of reading, but what impressed us most was the care he put into making each day special. Every morning, our daybed was perfectly prepared before we even arrived, with towels laid out and everything ready for us to relax. He remembered that we were celebrating our anniversary, and he and Raul surprised us with the sweetest towel art in our room to celebrate. After noticing how much I loved fresh coconuts, Joel started bringing one to me every afternoon without me even asking. It’s those thoughtful little touches that turn a great vacation into an unforgettable one.
Excellence Riviera Cancun continues to set the standard for what an all-inclusive resort should be. Between the exceptional staff, delicious food, beautiful accommodations, and the added benefits of Excellence Club, it’s become our favorite place to vacation.
The biggest compliment we can give is that we were already planning our next trip before this one ended. We’ll be back in January, and I’m sure many more times after that. Thank you to everyone at ERC for another unforgettable stay. We already can’t wait to come home.
Fun but (thankfully) not obnoxious adults only resort
Beautiful resort with plenty to do and many restaurant options. Not much of a beach. It is a larger resort so you will be walking a bit to get from place to place.
Good variety of evening entertainment. Beds and pillows were comfortable.
Could use some more activities by the pool during the day like trivia or other interactive games that people can participate in while in the pool.
Guests while we were there appeared to range in age from 30-60 so was not a spring break drunk fest, that we appreciated. People still drinking and having fun just not acting like children.
Mind blown & very happy
This resort was the most incredible experience that my partner and I have ever had! The staff was so nice spoke perfect English, and always had a smile on their face. The resort was immaculate. The pools were pristine. The food was top-tier. The service wherever you go on the property was top-notch wherever you go on the property you are waited on by a waiter. The activities in the shows were awesome! The restaurants on the property were beautiful! All of the staff all the resort were phenomenal, but a few names to mention that we’re above and beyond for us and felt like friends and family:

The staff keeps us coming back
This was our 8th trip to ERC since 2020. I want to highlight a few of the biggest changes in recent years. Menus have been downsized tremendously, however, the food quality has massively improved. We think this has been a positive change overall. I’m a picky eater and was worried about having fewer options, but staff was always accommodating if I requested small changes to my dishes. I do wish The Grill would bring back some chicken dishes. But I can’t complain! That’s the beauty of a truly all-inclusive resort- if I don’t want anything on a particular menu, I can have a drink while my husband eats his meal and we can stop at another restaurant later. The new functional training gym is fantastic! Happy to see that the old gym is still open as well. Both facilities are quite small, so having them both open allowed neither one to ever get too crowded. The Sports Bar renovation was very well done. We love the new additions at Aroma. The ice cream was great and the pastries/desserts now being in the self serve area was convenient. The ladies at Aroma are always so friendly. And that brings me to a few staff highlights from this trip: We always look forward to seeing pool waiters Edson, Hugo, Marco, and Santos. While they never served our section of the beach this trip, each of them stopped by to catch up with us almost daily. Amerle was our waiter at the beach everyday and she was awesome. Oswaldo at Martini bar is so friendly and makes the best cocktails. We know Itamar from back when he was part of the entertainment team, but he now works as a club concierge. We aren’t club, but the concierge hut was on the way to our room, so it was nice getting to stop by and chat with Itamar everyday. Fernando at Agave was so friendly and had fantastic food recommendations. Service from Misael at Sports Bar was absolutely outstanding. Luis has been our bellman nearly every trip. He’s so friendly and it’s a joy to stop and chat with him when we see him around the property throughout the week. Towards the end of our stay, he asked what time our driver was picking us up (it was a couple of hours past checkout time) He went out of his way to get us a late checkout. It’s the staff that keeps us coming back time after time. Already planning trip number 9 in a few months from now!
