BEAUTIFUL ROOMS AND LOCATION
The rooms are huge, clean and very modern. People who work there are very gentle. The location is perfect: 3 minutes walking from the beach, 1 minute from the Quinta Avenida (the most touristic street), 15 minutes walking from the harbour..
Reef 28 gets a lot right, but...
Reef 28 gets a lot right. The rooms are lovely, comfortable, and well kept. Freddy served us on the rooftop, Nestor at check in, they were great. The whole staff is the best thing about this property, warm and attentive without exception, and they're the reason I'd consider coming back.
The food is a real letdown, and for a resort in Mexico that's hard to forgive. The on-site Mexican restaurant plays it so safe with flavor that I've had better Mexican food in Los Angeles. The rooftop shrimp skewers I paid an upcharge for were bland. Tortilla chips came out stale more than once. The bigger issue: the shrimp in the ceviche was still gray and translucent instead of opaque, which means it wasn't properly cured before it hit the table. That's not a flavor preference, that's a kitchen problem, and it's the one thing I'd want management to address before anything else.
Beautiful property, great location and atmosphere, excellent people, kitchen that needs work. I'd stay again and eat off-site.
Also, depending on how you book, they may push you into a vacation club sales pitch. Just be aware.

Freddy was great, service was excellent, food was great. Highly recommend to come to Reef 28 and the rooftop bar to enjoy drinks and have a good time!

Food is good. But what was best is the great staff , super friendly and knowledgeable. Especially Freddy! He was professional and his service was excellent. I will be back
