Secrets Maroma Beach

This place is beautiful. We’ve been there 3 times and each one was perfect. We traveled with America Transfer to/from airport to the resort. Our driver, Alberta was very nice and out going. He made the drive very entertaining. Our room was always clean, neat and very comfortable thanks to Sonia and Mauricio kept the refrigerator in our room well stocked. Roberta, our concierge, took care of everything for us. If we had any questions or concerns he took care of it immediately. He was awesome! The resort beautiful, well laid out, and easy to walk wherever you wanted to go. The gym was very nice. My husband loved talking/laughing with Freddy in the breakfast buffet. He was very outgoing and entertaining. The resort sent us a bottle of champagne on our arrival which was very special. I’m sure we ate/drank at every restaurant/bar, they were all amazing. Checking in/out of resort is a breeze. Entertainment in the lobby, Rock show and fusion were all very good. The pools are really nice and when a large tuna is caught, the chef shows how to cut and grill, so very good. We can’t wait to return because we’ve such a wonderful time. This resort is consistent on every level. We enjoyed the whirlpool tub in our room and on the balcony. We loved everything about this resort, food, entertainment, layout, manicured gardens, beverages, and especially the staff.

Beautiful resort with exceptional staff and a few opportunities for improvement. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and would return, although it isn’t in my personal top three Cancun resorts.

Room (1222): Great location close to the pool and restaurants. Efrain kept our minibar stocked exactly as requested, Anabel did an excellent job cleaning our room every day, and Karen, our building concierge, consistently checked in to make sure we had everything we needed.

Seaside Grill: Easily our favorite restaurant. Armando (lunch), along with Cinar, Francisco, and Salvador (dinner), provided excellent service. The food was consistently our favorite on the property. Our only issue was one evening when the bugs were relentless, making outdoor dining difficult.

Breakfast Buffet: Jose was fantastic; he was friendly, attentive, and always on top of our drinks and table.

Pool: Alberto delivered the best pool service I’ve experienced at any all-inclusive. He remembered guests by name and truly elevated our experience. We’d come back just for his service. Wilbert was also excellent on Alberto’s day off. Ezekiel helped us find the perfect quiet, shaded location, and I appreciated the team that cleaned guests’ sunglasses throughout the day.

That said, I expected a little more consistency from the pool concierge team. At a five-star resort, I thought the concierge team would help set up guests loungers with towels. I also didn’t understand why we had to close our umbrellas on some mornings due to “wind” but left open on windier days. It also seemed like one side of the pool received more attention than the other. My only other suggestion would be adding more convenient pool exits, as they were only on one side as well.

Pool Food: The pizza is an absolute 10/10 and a must-try. It was so good I never made it to the Texas BBQ. We also were excited about a whole tuna prepared one afternoon.

Entertainment: Although we didn’t book Preferred Club, hearing the morning violinist while relaxing by the pool was one of our favorite touches. It gave the resort a relaxing, Bridgerton vibe.

El Patio: This wasn’t our favorite restaurant. We found the flavors a bit underwhelming, although we enjoyed the guacamole, churros, and two of the three (Al pastor and lengua) tacos. Brenda provided wonderful service.

Bordeaux: Excellent meal. The duck was one of my favorite entrée of the trip and worth returning for. The sea bass was well cooked but could benefit from a sauce. Nicoletta was a welcoming hostess, and Pablo provided excellent service.

Room Service: We appreciated the menu options and that every special request was followed perfectly. The lamb on our first order was disappointing as it was unevenly cooked and not a great cut. We tried room service again the next night with the steak, and it was excellent, just like dining in the restaurant. Breakfast on departure morning was decent as well.

Final Thoughts: Would I return? Yes. The outstanding staff especially Alberto, the Seaside Grill, and the incredible pizza made this a memorable vacation. While there are a few areas where service consistency could be improved, the resort has a lot of potential, and we enjoyed our stay.
