Fairmont Mayakoba

The entire staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, the food is delicious, and the facilities are very clean overall. We’ve been here several times and absolutely love it!

We had the BEST time at the Fairmont at Mayakoba. Yes the resort is gorgeous and the setting is stunning, but the staff was what truly stood out. Every single staff member made us feel like royalty. And our butlers, Fernando and Vanessa made the trip perfection. They arranged activities, all dinner reservations, including transportation, and wonderful details like welcome mojitos for a boat ride to dinner. While we were there my son turned 16. Every single night each restaurant we ate at had been informed by Fernando and Vanessa of our son’s birthday and he received the best treatment at all of them. The night of his birthday we returned from dinner to find his room decorated with birthday decor and a cake waiting for him. They made him feel so special and this mom cannot thank them enough. I would come back just to work with this staff again. Best resort we have ever stayed at.

The resort itself was not worth the money! Food was not great, they close restaurants, they have way too many exceptions to the All-inclusive, including time frames. They confuse people offering a raw steak tray for cut selection but then say it’s not part of the all inclusive, so people thought no steak was included at the steak house! They put 4 different waters in your room and you have to read 5 point font to figure out which are part of the all-inclusive. A golf cart driver pushed a suitcase out of the cart instead of getting out of his seat and handing it over, tearing my business partner’s dress. Don’t go there even slightly handicapped, it’s not friendly, and a tripping hazard nearly everywhere! The terrazzo pavers were so slippery when it rained or in the morning dew, I actually caught a woman as she was going down. If you drink, keep someone sober so you can get safely back into your casita as the walkways will put you in a hospital. Then at the only swim up bar, the steps into the pool had a 24” drop off the last step, causing people to fall in unexpectedly. I was bitten by insects every day, the local ‘raccoons’ walk up and steal your food, including if it was wrapped in a bag and in your hand, or in a pool’s cabana. The staff make no attempt to replace the stolen food, and most of our 300 person retreat were not on the all-inclusive package. All the pools had a slime film on the water, every day, so gross. The directional signs are awful throughout, it’s ridiculous, you get lost walking. It’s a 594 acre maze, in the swamp, with 1000 feet of beachfront, nothing is close, you walk, bike, or golf cart it everywhere, so if you forget something in your room, it’ll cost you an extra 30 minutes. Our event itself was incredible, so many said “best ever”, but sadly I’d never recommend for anyone to waste their time & money, find another resort.
