Catalonia good choice
Great resort good food, we where their in July and not a lot of sargasso, good service, beloved restaurant very very good but you need to be prefered to go there. Worth the price
Only one pool do, and it gets very hot in the afternoon

Excellent resort
Amazing 11 nights here. Everything about the resort was fantastic. The room was spacious and well equipped. I booked a priviledge room which was worth the extra. Benefits included turn down service a special area on the beach and restaurant Beloved access at anytime. The beach did have a lot of sargasso but the staff worked hard to clear. I enjoyed the vast grounds and walk to buffet restaurant was lovely as you see a lot of wildlife. Entertainment was very good every night. I was there during a few games of the world cup and they showed the games in the Catz nightclub. They even put on a nice range of food including hot dogs. I booked a trip to Isla Mujeres with Tui on a luxury catamaran. It was expensive but worth it as the island is beautiful and sea turquoise. The buffet lunch however was not great. Drinks were all included and very good. I also booked a trip to coco bongos which again very expensive but again worth it. One thing to note if you are a smoker you cannot smoke anywhere in the hotel you have to go outside to a smoking area. Vaping is illegal but you can buy on the beach but they are expensive 40$ each. Reccommend a trip into Playa de Carmen a taxi can be arranged by the bell boys 600 pesos each way. Be prepared for an onslaught of men trying to get you into their shops. Also be prepared to be offered drugs every few steps. It is worth a visit though. Overall I would go back as really enjoyed it.

Vacation
Presently at Catalonia Playa Maroma. The food has been amazing so far. The beach was pretty good today. They had it cleaned up well but you could see the sargassum coming in later in the day. The room is clean and refreshed. Only trouble so far was luggage at the airport in Cancun losing a piece of our luggage. Said it was found but have not seen it yet. Waiting!!!!! The only saving grace is my waiter Jesus in the lobby!! Great waiter.
