The Occidental Allegro Playacar All Inclusive is a great beach hotel, surround by lush tropical gardens and greenery, and is very conveniently located just in front of the beach, providing guests with magnificent views. Local beaches, renowned for their spectacular white sand and crystal clear waters are close by. Playa del Carmen town is also easily reachable, here guests will find a variety of leisure and shopping possibilities as well as restaurants and other interesting sites. The hotel provides a wide range of dining options, entertainment and leisure facilities in unlimited amounts.

The Allegro has changed
We love this hotel, so let's make the best of it as TUI has lost our hold luggage.
GREAT!!
We (Me 52yrs and husband 70 yrs) dropped our hand luggage in our room at about 8pm and headed up to the restaurant for food and a chance to regroup about our situation.
We were denied entry to the restaurant on the basis that my husband wasn't wearing a shirt! I used Google translate and explained our predicament to the girl who got her manager. I again explained "10 hour flight, our luggage is lost, 70 yr old husband has cancer, needs food and drink" We were sent away with just a shoulder shrug. I must say that experience of sheer inhumanity will stay with me for life.
(Our luggage arrived on day 9 of a 14 night holiday)
The hotel:
Rooms- clean and comfortable.
Grounds, beautiful and very well maintained.
Cleaning staff- amazing, friendly.
Bar staff- just lovely and aim to please.
Entertainment- Umm 1 hour show each night starting at 9.30pm then there is the nightclub open at 11pm till 1am. To be fair we didn't bother.
Food- OMG what has gone wrong???? The quality and choice has nose dived, it was awful. I learned how to use Uber Eats by day 7.
If you want a wee bit of lively fun this is NOT the resort for you.
If you want peace, peace and some more peace this is your place. The local wildlife in the resort is amazing though.
Do not expect any kind of planned mental stimulation. This is a different hotel than the one we came to in March 2025.
I hope these words help someone in their choice. I won't be visiting another Allegro hotel.

Review and pictures looked great. Almost like two different resorts. Rooms small, bed extremely hard, just not a great stay for the money
Great stay at Allegro Playacar
Very friendly stuff and great place for the price. Location is the best! Beach is clean and the lounge chairs are abundant. Food is good with good variety. Hotel is one of the oldest in Playacar but is very clean. Richardo at the front desk is amazing!
The minor drawbacks were no conditioner at the buffet (but that was expected) and a second item, as a suggestion for the management, please put cutlery on napkins during breakfast and lunch , not directly on the mats under the plates. Otherwise the place is really nice and the stuff is wonderful and hard working. Thank you!
Getaway
Outstanding time with partner and friends. We enjoyed the rooms, service, beach, staff and the cost.
Really good experiance
Really great experiance. The weather did not help a lot but everything else was amazing. The bartenders at the pool were great and made some delicious drinks 10/10
