Sun Palace Resort

This is our third time at Sun Palace and each time it gets better. We are members of the Palace family and enjoy all our stays at the Palace Resorts. It starts with our welcome email from our diamond concierge, Giselle Garcia. She is fantastic. Our airport pickup, restaurants being scheduled, extra amenities in the room and coffee delivered every morning to start the day. The pool concierge Ricky and German were awesome. Shout outs to Julian and Armando at Trattoria, Alfredo and Monica at Fuegos, Jesus at Aurora, and Kevin the wine sommelier (always great wine recommendations) and many more. Can't forget Johnathan aka Ryan from the entertainment team. Lots of laughs and a fun time. The rooms are great with each having an ocean view and our room maid Eddy kept the rooms great everyday. Even got a chance to see the turtles lay their eggs on the beach at night. Really enjoyed this trip and will be back again.

My wife and I are Palace Resort members, and have been since 2008. We have celebrated the 4th of July with our Palace family each year, excluding Covid, since then. They always make the 4th so very special with bands, dancers, stilts walkers, buffets and fireworks! It truly is a spectacular day! This year was no exception and the day was GRAND! Thank you Palace family!!!

For anyone that may read this review, if you are looking for a midsize, quaint, romantic, boutique feel resort this is the one for you! We have vacationed at Sun Palace over 30 times and the experience just gets better and better!

From the time you arrive, the bellboy staff are willing and eager to assist you with luggage and registration. These guys will quickly become your very good friends! The registration team will quickly get you all checked in and will let you know by email or text when your room is ready if it’s not ready when you arrive. Then you’re off to the races!! Oh I forgot…….. when you walk into the resort, the wonderfully fantastic smell of spa is out of this world!! They really should bottle and sell it! Oh wait…… THEY DO!!

The resort has 4 restaurants. Italian (Trattoria), Mexican (Aurora), Oriental (Thai), and Steak (Fuego). All of these restaurants are superb with great food, great service, great management and so very friendly. There is also a poolside menu with great Palace dogs, Palace burgers, brick oven pizza, chicken wings, nachos, fruit bowls, tacos and much more. So if you go hungry it’s nobody’s fault but your own! There are breakfast and lunch buffets that are served in the Aurora restaurant during the day. They are both fantastic, and our favorite is the breakfast buffet!

There are nightly shows each evening mostly in the ballroom, followed by more entertainment that takes place in the lobby bar, or The Bar. There is also entertainment throughout the day lead by the entertainment staff! There’s crazy games, pool volleyball, water polo and more! You will never be bored at this place! I promise!

Need some spa time? No worries! There are massages, facials, mani/pedi’s, salon services, hydrotherapy services and more! All of the spa therapists are wonderful and very professional.

No need at all to worry about your room either! The housekeeping team will keep your room immaculate and will provide turn down service each night.

The last thing I want to point out before I start applauding all of the wonderful staff is the beach. You will not find a better stretch of beach anywhere! Just sit on your balcony, around 6:00am and watch the sun rise. Just do it once! You will never see a more beautiful sight! The sun rises like a fireball and it’s shine eases across the turquoise sea ever so gently until it reaches the shore…..my oh my!

Now here comes my favorite part of my review. THE PEOPLE! OUR PALACE FAMILY!! Oh how they go out of their way to make sure that we have the most wonderful time. I am going to list each and every one of them that I can and if I leave someone out, please know that it wasn’t intentional! You are all very special to us and we love you all!

During our vacation we went into town to visit with some very close friends of ours. They were taking us to see a beautiful church that they sometimes attend. We had seen pictures of it, but we’re going to get to see it in person. While walking down the sidewalk, my wife misstepped and severely sprained her ankle. The local Red Cross took very good care of her with x-rays and support bandaging. This happened about midway of our vacation time. Once arriving back to Sun Palace the attention and care that she received was amazing! We were given a wheelchair to use and immediately had a medic and public relations representative person come and check to see if there was anything that we needed. A beautiful bouquet of flowers with a get well soon card, signed by YOUR SUN PALACE TEAM, was sent to her, and many helping hands made the remainder of our trip much better than would have been expected. Our heartfelt thanks goes out to each and every one of our Palace family!!

Lastly I would like to thank General Manager Heriberto Cota for your guidance of our home away from home. You have an incredible team to work with and your hard work and dedication to perfection is noticed in every aspect. From the resort itself, the food, the entertainment, the atmosphere and the overall composition and makeup of the attitudes of everyone that works there!! Always……..”It’s my pleasure”. It truly is OUR pleasure to be part of the Sun Palace family!
