Horrible, horrible experience I was experiencing a life or death situation back home and was unable to get in touch with anyone. The hotel cannot accommodate me. They told me the electricity went out. There was no Wi-Fi. This whole day was absolutely horrible. They promised to upgrade my room because my shower was running cold and my air conditioner was not working even with the balcony door closed and 95+ degree weather I would not recommend this place. They do not care about their guest and the communication back-and-forth between them and booking.com was absolutely horrible as well.

EVERYTHING was top notch. From service to cleanliness to food! Staff goes out of its way to ensure a fantastic stay!

Couples holiday August 2026
We have just returned from our 3rd stay at Rui Cancun. The location is amazing, right in front of a beautiful beach with easy access to shops and nightlife should you want it. Food excellent, particularly the steak & fish restaurant. Staff always go that extra mile and very friendly. The only negative is that the rooms could do with a refurb. Would we go back? Absolutely!
Not returning to a RIU hotel again
On arrival after a long flight we arrived at RIU Cancun we got through check in very quick when we got to our room we were not impressed with the view from our balcony of a 5 foot brick wall so we decided to see reception in the morning that night we did not as guests were running through the corridor all night screaming and shouting in the morning we went to reception so they offered another room which we declined as it wasn’t to our liking so we paid to upgrade which we received a room on the 14th floor which is what we wanted as the view was fantastic. But a week later we had problems with guests partying in the room next door so we rang reception and they sent security up to see what was going on, the security found the room was full of young Americans partying,so they were told to leave. This was not the only problem with the young Americans they would drink there self into a stupor and be sick in the pool which was closed 4 times when we were there because they were drunk. This did not just happen in the pool we had a group of them sat behind us on the sun loungers to which one them was being sick in the rubbish bin. This was not the relaxing holiday we thought we would have, we won’t be returning to a RIU hotel again
