The hotel Riu Cancun allows guests to enjoy their holidays freely without limits, without worries, and taking time to relax. This luxury hotel is located in 10 min walking distance to the beach in Cancún's hotel district. There is a plethora of bars and restaurants as well as a shopping centre in the vicinity. The centre of Cancún, which lies 1 km away, may easily be reached by making use of public transportation for which a stop is located directly in front of the hotel. The international airport lies about 20 km away.
This location was very nice to stay at. You’re very close to all the bars and clubs you can walk about 5min. The hotel was very nice and clean the pool area was very beautiful. The only thing I didn’t like was the hotel room floors are very slippery and when showering the water gets all over the floor. Overall it was a nice stay i wouldn’t mind visiting again.
Great stay! Nice staff! Will stay again! Drinks were great. Only complaint will be not all restaurants were open. We had to settle with the buffet most nights for dinner.
The hotel looks amazing with excellent sea views and infinity pools everywhere. The place is very clean and constantly being cleaned both the rooms and public areas. The staff are on the ball and the waiters work none stop. However if you want to sleep your in the wrong hotel. It may be adults only but it should be grown ups only. The screaming and shouting all through the night make sleep impossible.
Went for friends wedding. Have a wonderful stay at this resort. Very nice amenities and great service by the staff. All were very friendly, helpful, and accommodating! Will definitely stay here again.
We recently stayed at Riu Cancun to celebrate my husband’s 60th birthday, having previously visited in November 2024 for our honeymoon where we had the most amazing time. On our first visit, it was everything we wanted—relaxing, enjoyable, and a really lovely atmosphere—so we were excited to return with friends.
I want to be very clear that this review is absolutely no reflection on the staff. The staff here are truly fantastic—they genuinely cannot do enough for you, always friendly, attentive, and hardworking. The entertainers are amazing and work so hard given the type of clients this hotel now attracts!!
The hotel itself is starting to look quite dated and could really benefit from a refurbishment. The hotel looks really run down in comparison to our last visit 2 years ago
Our main issue, unfortunately, was the type of guests the hotel now attracts since becoming adults-only. It now feels heavily aimed at a much younger crowd, particularly groups of young American guests who, in many cases, seemed more focused on drinking excessively than enjoying the resort.
We were woken up every single night—without exaggeration—by slamming doors, shouting, and screaming in the hallways and some nights even loud speakers being blasted outside our balcony. We witnessed fights, people passed out drunk on the floor (sometimes in the middle of the afternoon!) and very inappropriate behaviour in the pools if you know what I mean. You cannot escape it. The overall noise levels and atmosphere were completely over the top and far removed from the experience we had on our previous stay. Even at breakfast when you want a bit of tranquility they arrive and instantly ruin it with their noise levels.
It’s such a shame, as this could be, and once was a really lovely resort, but the current atmosphere is, in our opinion, ruining what would otherwise be a great place to stay.
