Excellent hotel for a family vacation
Excellent hotel for a family vacation. The service was great . We love the Staff, they were very friendly, attentive, and helpful. We love the prestige area ,as an iberostar member I’m so grateful with the prestige staff ,they took care of me and my family., Flor, Teo, Alexis and Guadalupe did a great job helping me with everything. Big thanks to Macario and Yaranelis , the prestige bar tenders for those amazing cocktails and incredible costumer service and Libia for make us delicious Coffees every morning. The star camp staff are incredible, they took care of my son really good and he had a really great time with them. Big thanks to Veronica Chavez for taking care of me and my family. We really enjoyed our days here , For sure we are going to come back .
Allergies
If you have food allergies and are wondering if Iberostar Selection Cancún is safe, this review is for you!
I have severe allergies to peanuts, tree nuts, and shellfish, and I get violently sick if I eat them. I was honestly pretty nervous before coming, but the staff here were absolutely amazing.
A huge shoutout to Lis! Every time she saw me at the buffet, she would come find me and walk around with me, telling me exactly what I could and couldn’t eat. If there was any chance of cross-contamination, she would go to the kitchen and bring me a fresh plate from the back. She even recommended different specialties for me to try, which made me feel like I wasn’t missing out.
One day she even brought me a dessert from another restaurant because most of the desserts at the buffet contained peanuts or tree nuts. That completely made my day!
I honestly felt like I was getting true 5-star service. I never felt like I was a burden—they genuinely cared and wanted me to have a great vacation.
Best of all… I had zero allergic reactions the entire trip.
One tip for anyone with peanut and tree nut allergies: bring a few safe snacks from home, like bagels or crackers. I found that many of those items at the resort had “may contain peanuts/tree nuts” labels, so it was nice having a couple of safe options.
Thank you, Lis, and the whole team for making what is usually the most stressful part of traveling feel so easy. I would absolutely come back!
Good experience, but it’s not 5-star
Overall good resort. A few things that need to be fixed. There’s not enough chairs at the pool for the number of guests at the resort. It’s so bad that guests put out towels the night before to reserve chairs. I’ve never seen anything like it. Also, the elevators stop at every floor on the way up and down. If they fix those 2 things, then it would be much better.

The food and the service was exceptional! Great fish tacos, soups were great and habanero salsa was so good.

Estate 2026
We have just returned from our vacation at this resort, and what can I say? It was absolutely amazing! From swizerland
The food, entertainment team, pools, beach, and all the staff were outstanding. Unfortunately, we were there during the sargassum season, but that’s really down to luck and completely beyond the resort’s control.
Another big plus was the resort’s app. It was incredibly convenient, easy to use, and beautifully designed—you can do almost everything directly from it.
If I had to mention a small downside (really just a minor detail), we weren’t able to book the Japanese restaurant despite following all the instructions. However, it wasn’t a big deal because the buffet offered such a wide variety of delicious food that we never felt like we were missing out.
The only other minor issue was the housekeeping schedule. On a couple of occasions our room wasn’t cleaned, but overall it didn’t affect our experience.
Overall, we highly recommend this resort. We had a fantastic vacation and would definitely come back!
