Atelier Playa Mujeres

Hotel Atelier was an exceptional stay! Very friendly staff and beyond the standard of dining experiences. There were several options to eat and each meal was great. Our experience though was made the best ever by the activities staff! With fun and engaging ways to fill our days at the ‘party pool’ they were so fun & will be the reason we undoubtedly return to Atelier! We just returned from another incredible trip to Atelier Playa Mujeres—our 7th time here—and it did not disappoint. From the moment we arrived, check-in was seamless, and we were warmly greeted by our concierge and butler. Everything about this resort keeps us coming back: the beautiful signature scent, the ultra-comfortable beds, the exceptional food, and the top-quality drinks. We stayed in a 4th-floor swim-out room for the third time and absolutely loved it. The Highlights & Our Routine Our daily routine is perfect bliss. We always started our mornings at the quiet pool in Building 3 before moving up to our favorite spot, the Sky Pool, once the shade rolled in. Over the years, this resort has become a social hub for us; we met several wonderful couples this trip, and even reunited with friends we made here a couple of years ago. It’s always fantastic to see familiar faces. Standout Staff Members The service here is unmatched, but a few individuals truly went above and beyond and deserve special recognition: Pingting (Our Butler): She was incredible. She checked in on us daily, beautiful decorated our room for our 20th anniversary, and even checked up on my husband when he was under the weather with a sinus infection. Dining & Pool Staff: Javier G., Julio, and Jessica at Suspiro; Santiago at La Consentida; and Ricardo at Sal Y Limon all provided exceptional service. At the Sky Pool, Gissell kept the great drinks flowing, while Uriel and Javier were a massive help getting us set up with seating each day. Bernice (Concierge): She recognized us from day one and greeted us warmly every single day (and yes, Bernice, I promise I will practice my Spanish! LOL). A Few Observations & Constructive Feedback Because we know and love this resort so well, we did notice a couple of changes this year. The hotel has started rotating the servers, so it took us a few days to track down some of our favorites. We definitely missed Alberto this year at Bar de la Calle and El Cielo—he has always been one of our absolute favorites. Additionally, we really missed having a buffet option for lunch since La Consentida was closed during the day. We truly hope management considers reopening it for lunch in the future! Verdict The property is always immaculately maintained, and you can tell the staff is constantly working hard to keep it in pristine condition. Atelier Playa Mujeres truly feels like our second home. We are already planning our 8th trip!

There are some rock stars staff you do have at your resort: Byron (bellhop), Gerardo (Los Abrazos), and Alfonso (main pool waiter). We are writing to share our disappointment regarding several service issues we experienced during our recent stay at Atelier Playa Mujeres from July 2026. As seasoned travelers who regularly stay at five-star luxury properties around the world, we understand that occasional issues can arise; however, what distinguishes an exceptional resort is how effectively those issues are resolved.

Shortly after checking in, we discovered that the toilet seat was loose and unstable, shifting significantly during use and creating both discomfort and a potential safety concern. We promptly reported the issue to the front desk and were informed that the maintenance team will address it, but the problem remained unchanged. The lack of proper follow-through on such a basic maintenance matter was disappointing and not what we expected from a luxury resort, especially during a special anniversary celebration.

A more frustrating issue occurred the afternoon before our departure day. After spending the whole, hot day at the pool, we returned to our room wet, sweaty and sticky ready to shower and prepare for dinner, only to find that our room key fob had already been deactivated. We were left outside our room in wet swimsuits, hot and uncomfortable, without access to the shower nor to our belongings. Due to the large size of the resort, we then had to walk a considerable distance back to the front desk to have our keys reactivated. This inconvenience could have been avoided with better coordination and attention to guest status.

These experiences reflect lapses in both maintenance follow-through, guest service and guest experiences. At a property of this caliber, guests reasonably expect reported issues to be properly resolved and room access to remain available until the designated checkout date and time unless other arrangements have been made.

We selected this resort because of its reputation for luxury and exceptional hospitality, and while there were aspects of our stay that we enjoyed, these avoidable service failures significantly affected our overall anniversary experience.
