Day 1
UK to Iguacu Falls

Depart the UK on your overnight flight to Iguazu Falls, Argentina.

Day 2
Iguacu Falls

Dinner

On arrival in Argentina, spend some time at leisure before beginning your adventure with a visit to the Brazilian side of Iguazu Falls. Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1984, Iguazu National Park is home to an incredible waterfall system comprising 275 cascades, many plunging from heights of around 70 metres. From the Brazilian side enjoy magnificent panoramic views of the cascading falls and surrounding jungle, a breathtaking beginning to your tour. Embark on a scenic walk along the surrounding canyon trails before boarding a glass elevator, reaching a platform which offers further incredible views of this natural wonder. Your day ends with a welcome dinner and entertaining traditional folklore show.

Day 3
Iguacu Falls

Following yesterday’s visit, today you’ll enjoy a tour of the Argentinian side of Iguazu Falls. A small train will take you on a scenic journey through the park along both the upper and lower circuits, providing exceptional views of the thundering waters and surrounding nature. Walking trails bring you through lush forests filled with orchids, birds, and a variety of wildlife. The undeniable highlight of today is a visit to the famous Devil’s Throat platform, where the largest volume of water descends from Iguazu Falls and you’ll be fully immersed in the sheer power and beauty of your surroundings.

Iguacu Falls to Salta

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight to Salta. The remainder of the day is at leisure.

This morning, depart on a scenic road trip through Salta’s dramatic red rock canyons to the wine town of Cafayate, at the heart of the Calchaqui Valley, one of the world’s highest wine regions. Explore Quebrada de las Conchas Reserve, a protected area home to surreal, prehistoric landscapes that millions of years ago formed part of an ancient seabed. The shifting of tectonic plates, earthquakes, and centuries of erosion have created colourful rock formations such as the Devil’s Throat, the Amphitheatre, and The Castles. After admiring your surroundings, indulge in a wine tasting at one of Cafayate’s most renowned wineries.

Day 6
Salta

Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Embark on a full-day tour from Salta which checks off many of the most stunning spots in Argentina's wild northwest. Marvel at the striking white salt flats of Salinas Grandes, one of South America’s largest salt flats; admire the Cerro de los Siete Colores (Hill of Seven Colours), formed by millennia of geological activity and erosion; journey up the zigzagging Cuesta de Lipán, a mountain road known for its breathtaking hairpins and dramatic scenery; and shop for local handicrafts at the colourful Purmamarca artisan market.

Salta to Buenos Aires

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your afternoon flight to Buenos Aires. On arrival, transfer to your hotel for some time to relax before enjoying dinner and a thrilling tango show.

Buenos Aires

Today's exploration of Buenos Aires, Argentina’s bustling capital, begins in the city square at Plaza de Mayo, site of the May Revolution of 1810 and now a hub of political life. From here you can see the Casa Rosada government palace and its famous balcony where Eva Perón used to address the Argentinian people. Admire the architectural wonders of Avenida de Mayo and spend time in historic San Telmo before reaching the picturesque and colourful neighbourhood of La Boca, whose architecture reflects the European influences of the late 19th century. Wander through the revitalised Puerto Madero neighbourhood and the district of Recoleta, Buenos Aires’ most sophisticated neighbourhood. View the extraordinarily ornate gravestones of Recoleta Cemetery, containing the graves of several notable Argentinians.

Day 9
Buenos Aires to El Calafate

Depart Buenos Aires and fly to El Calafate, the gateway to the Perito Moreno Glacier.

El Calafate

Enjoy a full-day tour of the Perito Moreno Glacier, located within UNESCO-listed Los Glaciares National Park and considered one of Argentina’s greatest natural wonders. At approximately 5 kilometres wide, this immense glacier is one of the few in the world still advancing. Admire spectacular views from the observation platforms before taking a cruise across the lake for a closer look at its towering 70-metre-high ice walls.

El Calafate to Ushuaia

After a relaxing morning, fly to Ushuaia, the world’s southernmost city known for its charming atmosphere, colourful houses, and rich heritage tied to Antarctic exploration.

Tierra del Fuego & the Beagle Channel

Today you’ll embark on a once-in-a-lifetime experience, visiting Tierra del Fuego National Park, riding the Train of the End of the World, and cruising the legendary Beagle Channel. The first stage of your adventure takes place on the End of the World Train, reliving a captivating chapter of Argentine history as you trace a route taken by 20th-century prisoners to nearby logging camps. As you enter the stunning Tierra del Fuego National Park, you'll be immersed in the unique flora and fauna of the Fuegian forests, which span an impressive 63,000 hectares. Stop at the End of Route 3 in Lapataia Bay, home to the legendary End of the World sign marking the southernmost point of the Pan-American highway. Capture a photo at this iconic landmark before continuing to Lake Roca, where you'll be treated to views of quintessential Patagonian landscapes and crystal-clear turquoise waters. Your journey continues to the Alakush Visitor Centre, where you can delve deeper into the rich history of this remarkable region. The final stop of your train journey is Ensenada Zaratiegui, the ‘Post Office at the End of the World’, which serves as a quirky souvenir shop. This afternoon, your adventure continues with an unforgettable navigation experience on the Beagle Channel. As you set sail, prepare to be awed by stunning landscapes and vibrant wildlife: during your journey, explore bird colonies, visit Sea Lion Island, and cruise past the iconic Les Éclaireurs Lighthouse, a must-see landmark. Head back to Ushuaia, admiring breathtaking views of the city and mountains bathed in the warm glow of sunset.

Ushuaia to Buenos Aires

The order of events and sightseeing may vary according to local conditions or for operational purposes. The schedules of the domestic airlines in country are subject to frequent changes. For this reason, we have indicated approximate times only. Your local guide will inform you of any schedule changes as they are informed of them. The driving times listed are point to point and do not include the duration of excursions or stops en route. Some road construction and/or weather conditions may lengthen the driving times. Our intention is to adhere to the day-to-day itinerary as printed; however, order of events and sightseeing may vary according to local conditions.

If booking more than 12 weeks before departure a deposit of £390.14pp will need to be paid at the time of booking with the full amount payable at 12 weeks prior to departure. The deposit applies to adults and children. If you are within 12 weeks of travel then the full balance of the holiday will be payable.

To enter Argentina, your passport must be valid for the proposed duration of your stay. If you are a resident in Argentina, your passport must be valid for entry. You can visit Argentina without a visa for business or tourism for up to 90 days.

Please note your final documentation will be sent to you approximately 21 days before departure. Check in baggage is included with your flight. Weight restrictions will be finalised on your final documentation. Should you wish to take additional luggage you will need to pay extra at check-in. Check-in should be at least 3 hours before departure. If you wish to arrange Airport car parking or accommodation at preferential rates, we recommend you book this in advance with Holiday Extras on 0333 188 0407, quoting HX313.

IMPORTANT: A printed E-ticket is no longer required at check-in, all you need to do is present your passport to the staff at the desk and your boarding pass will be given to you. Please note that you should carry your invoice with flight details on it as you will need to show this at the airport.

It is important that you purchase travel insurance that suitably covers your participation in whatever activities you may undertake at the time that you make your booking. This tour is accessible to most people with an average level of fitness and normal mobility. It involves full days of sightseeing, often on foot, and includes some climbing of steps, getting on and off coaches and at times long walks often across uneven paths and hills. This tour is not suitable for anyone with walking difficulties.

The Currency in Argentina is the Argentine Peso known as ARS. However, US Dollars are widely used. Peso’s are not always available in the UK to buy beforehand, you are able to withdraw cash or exchange for Peso’s upon arrival at the airport in Argentina.

As normal practice you may be asked for your Credit / Debit card details on check-in at the hotel in order to cover any extras incurred during your stay. If you do not have a credit card, you may be asked for a cash deposit. MasterCard and Visa are widely accepted in hotels as well as American Express.

You will need to take some extra money with you to cover any personal purchases, such as souvenirs, laundry and extra drinks and snacks as well as your lunch and dinner on each day. Approximately £500-£600 per person should be sufficient for the tour.

It is customary to tip both your driver and guide and is at your discretion. We would recommend approximately £5.00 ($6.00) per person per day in total. This will be collected at the end of your day and can be paid in both local currency and US dollars. Tipping at Restaurants/Hotels etc is discretionary, but on average is around 10% .

The minimum number of travellers in your group will be 10, and the maximum will be 30. If in the unlikely event there are less than 10 people booked on your tour date, we will endeavour to reduce any disruption to your holiday and try to operate your tour with lower passenger numbers. If we are not able to operate your departure date then you may be asked to change to a different date and a full refund will be made available to you should this alternative not be suitable.

There is no minimum number of travellers for this extension however the main tour passenger numbers will apply for the main part of the tour. If in the unlikely event there are less than the required number of people booked on your main tour date then you may be asked to change to a different date. A full refund will be made available to you should this alternative not be suitable.

This is an escorted tour where we use Local Expert guides in each city. You will be guided by a local specialist in each of the cities you visit.

Private Tour: If you have booked a private tour then you will be accompanied by a Driver Guide or a Driver and Local Guides. These will be available to you during all scheduled sightseeing. Private Tours can depart on any day of the week depending on flight and train schedules and the opening days of the attractions. They will follow the itinerary as described in the brochure unless you have been advised otherwise and you will still have all of the same meals, sightseeing and local excursions included.

Your stay in Buenos Aires is not escorted by a tour guide. All internal transfers are included.

Your accommodation is selected for convenience, location, comfort or character, and can range from business hotels to leisure hotels. Hotel accommodation is generally rated as local three to four-star standard, but please note there is no international classification system for hotels, and differences in facilities and quality do exist compared to what you might expect in the UK. All group tours hotels have private bathroom facilities and air-conditioning, where needed. Rest assured that all accommodation used by Mercury Holidays is regularly inspected by our staff and partners to ensure that standards meet your needs.

Triple Rooms are available, but please note that these are on a request basis and the 3rd bed is a “rollaway” bed and may reduce the overall floorspace of the room. Where an international flight arrives during early morning, we will endeavour to provide an Early Check In to your hotel, this is subject to availability. The usual hotel check in time is from 2pm onwards.

Meals will be provided as per the detailed itinerary. When included Breakfast will be of western style and served in the hotel each morning. Lunch and dinner are not included in the tour so you will be able to choose where you dine for these meals. Your guide will be able to offer recommendations if you wish

It is not recommended to drink the tap water, even in developed counties water may contain unfamiliar elements that can cause upset stomachs. In less developed countries water is not filtered in the same way as the UK. Bottled Water will be available to purchase at shops, hotels & lodges.

On your arrival in Argentina you will be met by a representative from our local agent, Eurotur, holding a sign displaying: “Mercury Holidays”. The Mercury Holidays/Eurotur representative will show you to your transfer vehicle. Your guide will be able to answer any queries.
