Taj Fort Aguada Resort and Spa

Visiting Goa during the monsoon has been our family's annual ritual for years, and Taj Fort Aguada has always been our home away from home — much like how Mumbaikars build a weekend villa in Lonavala, this is ours. Every year, we make sure someone in the family experiences it for the first time. This year, it was my parents' turn — their first visit to Goa, and their first real experience of Taj hospitality, after years of visiting only religious destinations.

Thoughtful Planning, Even Before Arrival We book this stay a year in advance, and this time I spoke to GM Mr. Deepak Singh Rawat back in early June about a specific need: we're a Jain family with dietary restrictions, and my father follows Choviyar — eating only before sunset. Deepak connected me with Executive Chef Roy the same day, who assured me everything would be handled. On 7th July, we even got a courtesy call from the front desk to check our arrival time — a small but memorable touch we hadn't experienced before.

A Warm Welcome Despite a Delay Our flight from Mumbai was delayed by over 5 hours due to monsoon weather, pushing our arrival from a planned 11:45 am to 5:30 pm. Yet Deepak and his team — Front Office Manager Debarati, Guest Experience Manager Alisa, and Guest Service Associate Valushka — had been ready to receive us since morning, and understanding how tired we were, ensured a smooth, unhurried check-in. The surprises continued: we were upgraded to a luxury suite in the new wing, and found our family's old London photographs displayed on the bed — an incredibly personal welcome. We were also given Room 222, allocated near the fire exit for safety, a small detail that speaks volumes about the planning behind guest care. The rooms themselves were spacious, luxurious, and offered stunning views that elevated the entire stay.

Food That Won Over Even the Most Cautious Guest Being Jain with specific dietary needs isn't always easy while travelling, but Chef Roy and Chef Amit Prakash made it effortless. From our first evening meal to dinner at Kokum, every dish — starters, vegetables, dal — was thoughtfully prepared and genuinely delicious. My father, who had never experienced food like this while travelling, said it was truly amazing.

Service With Heart What sets Taj apart isn't just the amenities, it's the people. Shubham, Ujjwal, and Sourav consistently served us with warmth and a smile, always anticipating our needs. Arbindo, who has been with the property for 15 years, took us on a buggy ride to the Bay View, even guiding us on the best seating for sunset — the kind of insider detail you don't get anywhere else. Yogeshwari made checkout seamless. And every single day, Deepak, Chef Roy, and Debarati personally checked in on us — a level of care that made the entire stay feel like visiting family rather than a hotel.

More Than Just a Stay Our kids loved the activities at Taj Village and the pool, and we also enjoyed our time at SFX. During the trip itself, we'd already asked Deepak and Debarati to block dates for next year.

Taj Fort Aguada isn't just a place we stay — it's a ritual, a second home, and this year, it gave my parents their first, unforgettable taste of what real hospitality feels like.
