Club Waskaduwa Beach Resort and Spa

I am extremely disappointed and frustrated with my experience at this hotel.

Our check-in was scheduled for 2:00 PM, but we did not receive our rooms until 5:00 PM. We had to wait for three hours, and there was no responsible person available to properly handle the situation or provide a satisfactory explanation.

What was even more disappointing was the unprofessional and disrespectful attitude of some hotel staff. Instead of politely addressing customers' concerns, they scolded customers and behaved badly.

The room and dining facilities were also far below the standard expected from a five-star hotel:

• ❌ No soap or shampoo in the bathroom,no hot water functioning.
• ❌ Meals were only average
• ❌ The menu was not up to five-star standards
• ❌ There was no proper international buffet
• ❌ No napkins were available on the dining tables
• ❌ Poor customer service and lack of proper management

For a hotel claiming to be a five-star resort, these are very basic facilities and services that guests should be able to expect.

If you want to ruin your holiday, I would definitely recommend this hotel. Otherwise, I strongly suggest looking for another option.

Overall, this was one of the most disappointing hotel experiences I have had, and I would not recommend this hotel to anyone expecting a genuine five-star experience.

Our experience began on a disappointing note and first impression, as the hotel had failed to record our Booking.com reservation despite it being made weeks in advance, resulting in a wait of nearly an hour for our room. The initial room provided fell well below acceptable standards, with cleanliness issues in the bathroom (shower cubicle walls, toilet bowl and washroom sink were unclean) and an impractical furniture layout. However, to their credit, the management promptly decided to upgrade us to a suite, which was significantly cleaner, more comfortable and better maintained.

Next, the dining experience was average, with menu items appearing repetitive. We also noticed cleanliness concerns at the buffet, including food residue on cutlery despite being the first to arrive at the buffets. After informing, staff addressed the matter immediately.

In my view, the property would benefit greatly from stronger management and operational oversight. It would gain a lot more tourists as it has natural views and advantages of its own.

Consequently, what stood out most was the willingness of the staff and management to accept feedback constructively and take meaningful steps to rectify the issues raised. While there is room for improvement, their responsiveness and commitment to making things right deserve recognition.
