The Mermaid Hotel and Club is at Kalutara, about 25 miles south of Colombo and overlooks a stretch of beautiful beach. A refurbishment has enhanced the spa and lounge areas and provided a completely new main restaurant. The hotel is set in 3.2 acres of coconut palms and has tranquil views of the beach.

Lovely hotel. Excellent food. Amazing staff
Lovely to be back at Mermaid hotel after 15 years! Many of the staff are still there which is always a good sign. Very comfortable accommodation with good facilities and excellent food. We particularly enjoy the local sri lankan food and there was always a good and varied selection of local dishes as well as an excellent variety of more western dishes. Staff are exceptional and so kind and considerate. If you are looking to do trips while you are there whether it be longer trips over a few days exploring the beauty of Sri Lanka or local outings or airport transfers we would highly recommend you seeking out Amith of Amith tours. Very kind, honest and trustworthy guy. If you are looking for jewellery while you are there there would suggest walking past the jeweller based in the hotel grounds, going out of hotel and turning right and less than 30 seconds walk, you will find Moon Light Gems and Jewellery. They couldn't have been more helpful and provide an excellent and great value service. Hopefully we will be back a lot sooner than 15 years time!

3* hotel with 5* service
Location only had a few places to walk to but as we were all inclusive this wasn't so important. The ambience created by all the wonderful staff and entertainment was superb. Our room was spacious, with a large, well furnished balcony, kept extremely clean by our marvellous housekeeper Nihal. Who also decorated our bed with flower petals every day. He also supplied us with fresh drinking water every day which is essential in such a hot and humid climate. The value for money was amazing. 3 star rating but 5+star service and food. Everywhere was kept very clean both inside and out. There was no problem with noise. The service level of all the staff was the best we have ever received and we have travelled all over the world. The welcome at reception on arrival, with the staff in their traditional costumes, was a great start. The bar staff, including Navod and Denith, were first class, not only serving us at the bar but also round the pool and beach areas. The waiters in the restaurant were all also first class, decorating our table with flowers on several occasions, particularly by, Chandana, Saman and, Cheeky Monkey" to name but a few. The pool staff were also exceptional. Making our sunbeds with towels, whenever we needed them, nothing was too much trouble. We also used the Spa facilities which 3*were excellent. Had full body massage by Anushka Fernando.

Mermaid hotel - One of the best..!
Went here to celebrate my kids birthday and had a great holiday. Excellent food, friendly staff, overall great experience. One of the best in kaluthara / waskaduwa.

Amazing stay at Mermaid
The coastal vibe is amazing , the ambience is too good .
The rooms are nice and roomy .
The highlight was the food , the food was exceptional
The whereabouts are very clean and neat .
The hospitality is also amazing.
Great valued service
It was a very good experience. So much to do. There were free facilities like gym sports (badminton, tt, darts cricket volleyball etc). Mr. Amila gave two of us a very realxing yoga session. Really happy for that. Food was delicious. Rooms were quiet, clean and tidy. Environment, pool, garden were clean and pleasent. Had a great stay for the price.
