- Sugar Beach Resort and Spa

The Sugar Beach Hotel is set in palatial grounds in Wolmar, Mauritius. Enclosed in its own grove of palm trees, the Sugar Beach Hotel feels wonderfully removed from the rest of the word, but the thriving port of St Louis is close by. Beyond the manicured gardens the resort extends to the beach which boasts half a kilometre of perfect white sand.
There are lots of wonderful facilities to enjoy here including a fully-equipped fitness centre, tennis courts and some great opportunities for water sports and scuba diving.* There are also some great trails to explore through the trees and further out into the island - and you can hire bicycles* at the hotel to help you get about.
Access to the incredible spa, complete with Turkish bath (or hammam) is another perk of staying at the Sugar Beach Hotel. And another good reason to take things easy and go with the flow.
With four bars and three restaurants at the Sugar Beach Hotel, you'll want to leave plenty of time to relax and enjoy your meals too. From the genteel surroundings of the Citronella Café to the stylish pool-side surroundings of the Mon Plasir Bar, a week will just give you enough time to sample the delights of each. But why not stay longer?
You'll want plenty of time to enjoy your room. Standard Garden View are air conditioned and elegantly furnished with a balcony or terrace, rooms continue the plantation theme with use of real wood and complementary colours. All rooms are en suite and come with LCD flat-screen satellite TV, free Wi-Fi, safe and hairdryer. You could also choose to upgrade to a selection of beautiful rooms including those with a seaview or a beachfront room.
There's a lovely laidback feeling at the Sugar Beach Hotel. Perhaps it's the warm climate - people just want to relax and enjoy life here without all the usual hustle and bustle. Perhaps it's the look of the place. The palms, the architecture and the smart rooms all help suggest a slower pace of life.

Sugar Beach is located on the west coast of Mauritius near to the thriving town of Port Louis. Enjoying over half a kilometre of white sandy beach, the lush tropical gardens and contemporary plantation style architecture give this magnificent five star hotel a truly charming atmosphere.
We had a fabulous one week family holiday at Sugar Beach Resort and found the staff, food, location, activities&entertainment were all of a very high standard and we had a wonderful time with our two teenage daughters. Highly recommend.
Comfort and luxury. Staff helpful and informed making your stay as simple and relaxing as possible and the amenities are not like I’ve seen before, but I’m not normally fancy staying
Thoroughly enjoyed my time at Sugar Beach! If ever you need assistance, Anu is your person! She's super helpful and very attentive to your needs and very willing to go the extra mile.
This was an amazing trip.
The hotel is fantastic
Having been to a number of all inclusive in the Caribbean we certainly rated this as the best quality hotel of any we’ve been to in the Caribbean
The actual hotel location, design and use of the beach area is so well thought out. The quality of the buildings also equally well done.
Now we come to the staff and the service.
We were on the all inclusive package and loved every minute of it. We could have ordered from the paid menu but the drinks and food available on the ai were perfect for us.
The service however was brilliant.
Aashna at reception was always happy to help us and look after whatever we needed. She organised my trip to ile aux cerf to play golf ever so well and all I had to do was turn up at the right time and then play. Can’t praise her enough.
Chaya our room cleaner was lovely and kept us well looked after. The elephant towel art was a nice touch on top of it all.
The Buddha Bar beach restaurant and bar was our favourite location. The drinks were spot on and with Ryan and Darrell always looking after us it was such a good way to watch the sunset
Nassir our waiter in the Buddha Bar restaurant was excellent in that he explained everything for us and always had a moment to chat and share extra hints about life in Mauritius
We spent our days at the adult pool which was a hot spot when the sun was out and the water was good and cold in order to cool down.
There the staff would come around and bring our drinks and we even had snacks there one day. So thanks to Jessen, Mahen and Sourab who worked at the pool bar making our days go with a constant smile.
To finish off, part of the deal is that you can go and use the services at La Pirogue which is a short walk away. Well worth doing as the service and quality is equally as good
Would I go back - yes. In fact we are planning to do just that.
I know this isn’t about the hotel but it’s worth considering in your thoughts about getting there. Just not with British Airways as they are just nowhere near as good as the other carriers we have been with. It feels like you are paying good prices for long haul to get short haul economy standard.
A huge thank you to the incredible team who have made our stay so memorable. Beautiful surroundings, amazing food, genuinely warm and friendly staff, and every evening there was something different happening to keep guests entertained. Special mention to Stephen for cleaning our room and surprising us with a different cute "towel origami" daily. We will be recommending your beautiful resort to friends and family.
