Set in a lush oasis of palm trees, La Pirogue looks like a Mauritian fishing village. The distinctive cone-shaped, thatched roofs are clustered around the seashore at the edge of lush vegetation. This isn't a fishing village of course - it's an incredible 4 star hotel - and there's plenty of wonderfully fresh fish on offer in the superb restaurants.

You'll never be short of things to do at La Pirogue. The vast swimming pool is an absolute delight. Impeccably designed and fringed by palms, it is one of the hotel's biggest attractions.
The restaurants are high up that list too. From the beach bar to the main restaurant, the chefs and bartenders at La Pirogue work hard to give you a mouth-watering selection of food and drink. You'll enjoy lots of fresh ingredients and a great range of flavours. (And for even more choice, three additional restaurants are available to guests at the Sugar Beach Hotel.)
La Pirogue is well equipped for sports and fitness fans. Naturally, water sports are popular - and there are lots of opportunities for you to enjoy the wonderfully clean, warm water, whether you're a novice or a pro-scuba diver.
You can enjoy games from mini golf to volleyball - and there's a full fitness centre on site. We also recommend the spa - an essential ingredient of a truly relaxing Mauritius holiday.
One final but very important factor is your room. All Standard Garden View rooms (from August 2017 Garden Bungalows) are at ground level, with terraces leading straight out into the beautiful palm groves. There is full air conditioning and additional amenities include satellite TV, telephone, hairdryer, safe, mini bar and drinks making facilities. Room upgrades such as Beach Pavilions are also available at a supplement.
You'll never tire of the sight of that perfect white sandy beach, or the deep blue sea; La Pirogue really does enjoy a perfect secluded spot on the West coast of Mauritius.

Amazing time at La Pirogue
We had a great time at the resort...the staff members are very welcoming and humble. Met with Mr Sachin, James, Lobin and above all Mr Amrish who welcomed us and was very attentive to the guests... We shall be back soon

Most beautiful beach in Mauritius!
After staying at La Pirogue for a week I can totally see why people keep coming back to this place, even though it has some flaws. The best thing about the hotel is by far its location, just in front of the most beautiful beach we’ve seen in Mauritius. The whole place, despite being rather big, was truly quiet and peaceful, the only times you could really see the amount of the guests was at breakfast and dinner. The buffet both in the morning and in the evening had plenty of choices - not everything was to our liking, but everyday you could easily find delicious options, with lots of local touches. The staff in the restaurant was really mindful - after asking for a plant based milk the first morning, we’ve had it waiting at our table everyday without having to ask. Besides the main restaurant there is also a seafood restaurant on-site called Magenta, definitely worth trying (especially the seafood platter). Another key feature of the hotel is its stunning garden with plenty of coconut palm trees, taken care of to the perfection by the gardeners. When it comes to the activities, there are plenty to choose from, including snorkeling, fun boats, windsurfing, kayaking, stand-up paddle etc. The main downside of the resort, in my opinion, are the rooms, which are quite outdated and do not meet the expectations one would have for a hotel in this price range. The small house we’ve stayed in consisted of two rooms, and you could easily hear some noises coming from the other room. However, after spending the whole day at the beach, swimming in the sea and hearing nothing but the sound of the waves and the birds singing, then watching breathing sunsets, the standard of the room really took a back seat.
