One of the highlights of our stay was our room, which offered an absolutely amazing view of the ocean. Waking up to the beautiful turquoise waters and enjoying the peaceful ocean scenery was simply unforgettable. As a family staying on a full-board basis, dining was an important part of our holiday, and the resort truly delivered. Delicious food, beautiful settings, and attentive service made every meal a pleasure.

Our 4-night stay at the resort (formerly The St. Regis / JW Marriott Mauritius) was hands down the absolute highlight of our two-week vacation on the island. The property itself is breathtaking in a way few 5-star resorts achieve: nestled directly at the foot of the iconic Le Morne Brabant mountain, it combines stately colonial manor architecture with lush tropical gardens, a powdery white-sand beach, and a crystal-clear turquoise lagoon. Watching the sun set straight into the ocean from this stretch of coast was pure magic. Yet as stunning as the setting and the suites are, it is the genuine empathy, intuitive luxury, and hospitality that truly redefine perfection here.

From the moment we arrived, the staff turned what could have been an agency booking mistake into something unforgettable. Our travel agency had mistakenly booked us a twin room instead of a double. While my partner was being pampered with the welcome ritual, Ajay discreetly pulled me aside under the guise of sorting out the paperwork. In reality, he had read my email regarding my girlfriend’s upcoming birthday and my plan to propose, and he wanted to coordinate with me in private to keep the surprises intact! Not only did he seamlessly switch us to a king bed, but he also gifted us a phenomenal suite upgrade that felt like an experience in its own right—spacious, elegant, and opening right toward the ocean.

Ajay is quite possibly the most detail-oriented and attentive host we have ever encountered at any hotel worldwide. He took complete personal ownership of organizing both our milestone events, coordinating behind the scenes and constantly checking in to ensure every single detail of the birthday and the proposal unfolded flawlessly. Every time he crossed paths with us, he addressed us warmly by name. He personally supervised the room move alongside our butler team to make sure everything was perfect, and on our final day, he saw us off in person with champagne and travel coffees. A massive thank you to our phenomenal butlers, Nikhil and Ghirish. They were co-conspirators in crafting two seamless celebrations. Always just a quick WhatsApp text away, they responded instantly—even checking in on us on their days off. They decorated the suite exquisitely for her birthday with balloons, flowers, champagne, and a cake, followed by a breathtaking setup for the proposal the next day. They moved like ninjas: completely invisible until you needed them, making every surprise feel effortlessly magical. Knowing that my fiancée is diabetic, they thoughtfully ensured that both complimentary celebration cakes were completely sugar-free—a gesture that meant the world to us.

The food and beverage team was equally phenomenal:

• Manisha at breakfast learned about my partner’s dietary needs on day one, immediately arranged sugar-free treats from the pastry kitchen, and personally brought fresh sugar-free pastries to our table every single morning. On our departure day, she even packed a sweet sugar-free treat box for the road.
• The communication across the restaurants was astounding. At Atsuko, our waiter already knew our culinary preferences and dietary restrictions because he had been briefed by Pervin, who had looked after us the evening before at Floating Market. Pervin, whom we encountered across several venues, is easily one of the most polished and attentive professionals we have ever met.

If there is one "complaint" about this resort, it's that we never got around to hiking or exploring Le Morne Mountain—the grandeur of the colonial design, the pristine beach, and the pampering were so sublime that we simply could not bring ourselves to leave the resort grounds. An extraordinary team and an awe-inspiring sanctuary that turn milestones into lifelong memories. We cannot wait to return!
