Niched along the sheltered west coast of this tropical paradise, Sofitel Mauritius L'Impérial Resort & Spa enchants all who sojourn here. It is a magical place where lush gardens spill onto sugary sand and then the placid sea - a timeless retreat graced by French art de vivre and Mauritian vivacity. We invite you to escape and discover. Swim among colorful fish and coral reefs. Relax on a beach bed and watch the setting sun paint the sky. Join us on this unforgettable journey!
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
We had a wonderful stay at this property and honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience. From the beautiful location, beach access and surroundings to the quality of the rooms, food, property cleanliness and overall facilities, everything came together to make our stay truly relaxing and memorable.
What really stood out, though, was the hospitality. The entire team was warm, attentive, and welcoming without ever being intrusive. There’s a genuine sense of care here that makes you feel comfortable from the moment you arrive.
A special mention to Ishvari from the Guest Relations team, who went above and beyond to make our stay unforgettable. She has such a warm and welcoming personality, and the conversations we had with her made us feel genuinely valued and looked after. It’s those personal touches and moments that turn a good hotel stay into a truly special one.
Ishvari made us feel like more than just guests, and we really appreciated the warmth and kindness she showed us throughout our stay.
We absolutely loved our time here and would be very happy to come back. Highly recommended!
I’m currently staying at Sofitel L’Imperial, and unfortunately the experience on our first day has been quite disappointing.
The issues started even before arrival. I had to send three reminders regarding a single email just to receive a response. For a luxury property, this is not the level of communication I expected.
On arrival, no welcome drink was offered, and there was nobody available to assist with or collect our luggage. This was particularly disappointing as we were travelling with senior citizens and an infant.
The biggest disappointment, however, was the handling of our room. I am an Accor Gold member, and given our 6:30 AM arrival, I had specifically requested early check-in and a room upgrade. Neither was facilitated.
What makes this particularly frustrating is that my sister’s room, which I had booked through a Fora travel agent, was given both early check-in and an upgrade.
I completely understand that upgrades and early check-in are subject to availability. However, when the same family arrives together and availability is apparently sufficient to provide both benefits to a room booked through a travel agent, while a loyal Gold member travelling with elderly family members and an infant receives neither, it creates a very poor impression.
It is difficult not to feel that loyal members are being treated differently from bookings made through external travel channels.
This is only our first day, so I sincerely hope the service improves during the remainder of our stay. I will update this review based on how the hotel handles the situation.
A luxury hotel on the beach . It has everything you would expect, 2 pools, it’s on the beach with water activities, a gym and a spa . The rooms have recently been renovated, and are light , airy and spacious. Meals are buffet style and offer different meal themes each night. What sets this hotel apart from many others, is the care and attention of the staff and it’s beautiful peaceful gardens . Even when full, there is a sense of tranquility. A wonderful place to relax
Unfortunately, our weekend experience at Sofitel Mauritius L’Impérial Resort & Spa was far below what we expected from a hotel of this standard.
The biggest disappointment was the attitude and professionalism of some staff. The security guards we encountered were rude and disrespectful and did not make us feel valued as hotel guests. When issues arose, the management response also felt amateurish, with poor handling of situations and a lack of confident decision-making.
More concerning was our experience at the restaurants. Some staff appeared to have been drinking and smelled strongly of alcohol while speaking to guests. We could also hear staff shouting among themselves and using foul local language, despite local guests and families being present. This was extremely unprofessional and uncomfortable.
The swimming pool also requires attention. There were missing tiles at the bottom of the pool, leaving sharp areas that could potentially cause injury.
Overall, many staff members appeared bored, frustrated and generally uninterested in providing the level of hospitality expected from the Sofitel brand.
There were, however, a few positives. The room service was good, although not perfect, and the chefs at the main restaurants did a very good job. The quality of the food was one of the better aspects of our stay.
Unfortunately, the poor staff attitude, restaurant behaviour, security experience and condition of the swimming pool overshadowed these positives. For a resort of this category, we expected significantly better professionalism, hospitality and attention to guest experience.
Amazing experience, the hotel is splendid, the staff is really welcoming and helpful. The pools are beautiful and the beach side is stunning! The different restaurants are really good, the quality of the food is what you would expect. We will definitely be back! Thanks again to the entire Sofitel team!
