Seapoint Boutique Hotel

I enjoyed my final 60-minute massage with Kamla at Seapoint Boutique Hotel today, and it was the perfect way to end my stay. Kamla has a wonderful touch and a genuine talent for making you feel completely relaxed and cared for.

The massage oil she uses leaves the skin incredibly soft and smooth, and after the treatment, I felt refreshed, revitalised and almost rejuvenated.

Thank you, Kamla, for your wonderful treatments and the care you put into your work. You made my stay at Seapoint even more special. Highly recommended to anyone looking for a truly relaxing and rejuvenating experience!

It's definitely something worth recommendation! It was a lovely stay and we will certainly be back in the future.

Is this just a foodie haven? This is an honest review of the Seapoint boutique hotel and the contents should not disrespect the hotel, management and staff in any way. This review can challenge existing website facts however and there may be recommendations as to any issues that were found to be lacking from our point of view. This is a boutique hotel but not really a 5* as certain amenities are lacking.

The website: There are images and text that do not reflect reality. This hotel states it is adults only but look closer and it says Adults only 12+. I'm not sure a 12 year old is an adult. The hotel states golden sunsets. You cannot view sunsets from anywhere in the hotel grounds as it is not facing west so this information is misleading.

Food: Indeed, the quality of the food is very good. Every evening there is a 3 course meal available, both from a daily sheet and also from an a la carte menu. The price of the meals is mostly inclusive although many meals on the a la carte menu come at an extra cost (see images). Before the evening meal (if you are on a half board basis) and generally brought to your room, you will savour an appetizer, then whilst in the dining area after being seated you may receive a small amuse bouche and finally in between courses, a palette cleanser. Breakfast choices are good and varied although there is no natural yoghurt available, only shop bought tubs. On the last night of your stay, if having an evening meal, you are given a chefs special selection and seated facing the ocean. This is a highlight of the stay.

Hotel accommodation and grounds: The grounds are relatively small but well tended by the gardeners. There is a small rectangular heated pool, clean and easy to access. There are only 8 sun loungers by the pool which are generally taken by 7.30 am. There appears to be no action taken by the hotel to stop this practice of lounger bagging. There are further sun loungers on the beach but due to the fact that the hotel is facing north east, during our time there was a continuing wind so these were not used very much. The beach and sea was generally seaweed covered. There are blue bean bags placed below and beachside of the pool (not the white one's as shown on the website) but they are saggy and need filling. See images for these. Beach towels are generally available and if not, can be obtained in a little hut by the beach. This hut however is not always attended. There are a couple of canoes and paddle boards but because the sea was generally choppy these were rarely used. Our room was cleaned every day although we did hear that this was not always the case. It may have been because some guests place a 'do not disturb' notice on the door. The rooms are rustic as opposed to modern. There are approximately 22/23 in total. The upstairs rooms are bright with light from the patio doors on the balcony and light at the other end from a window in the bathroom. The ground floors are darker as the bathroom window is boxed in by external wood paneling. Our room only had one bedside light and even that was not sufficient to read a book. A free water bottle was placed in our room each day. There was a free safe in our room. There was no shaving mirror in our bathroom. There is a lounge area where weekly guest gatherings are held and daily 4.0 pm to 5.0 pm free tea/cake events but other than those occasions this area is dead. There is another room off the lounge area where there is a half size pool table.

Staff: The staff are all excellent, from the managers, front desk, cleaners, chefs and gardeners and all behave professionally. Not all staff however have a full command of some European languages but this should not detract from their job dedication. There were so many different staff over our stay that it would be impossible to name everyone! On most days there was a short musical entertainment session during the evening meals and also at the weekly lounge guest gathering.

Bike hire: There were mountain style bikes free to use but not the nice white ones as per the website pictures. See attached image. These bikes were not very well maintained either and probably not used too much as riding them on the busier roads could be quite dangerous due to the traffic, poor driving and road conditions!

Spa: The treatments are varied and reasonably priced.

Drinks: Cocktails are not cheap (around £10) and are weak alcohol wise. However, you can have the same cocktail for an additional cost if you ask for a premium brand of alcohol.

Downside: This hotel is at the very end of a road and isolated. There is a bus stop about half a mile walk away to get to the nearest town. No evening entertainment. Upon check out, bags can be left unattended or unsecured, in an open room.

Suggestions: To increase the number of sun loungers, pave the area below the pool, remove the bean bags and replace with another 8 sun loungers. The lounge area is largely unused, especially at night. You could have a quiz night, music night, wine tasting night, food making night etc. This could increase the guest experience and mixing of different nationalities.
