As a Canadian traveler who recently rented a villa at Anahita Mauritius, I am leaving this review to strongly discourage others from staying here. While the physical property has its merits, the service and the treatment of certain guests were absolutely unacceptable. The most glaring and disturbing issue during our stay was the blatant discrimination displayed by the staff. There was a clear and undeniable preferential treatment given to Hindu guests, while Muslims, Black, and East Asian guests were consistently treated with rudeness and disrespect. The hostility directed toward Muslim guests, in particular, was incredibly uncomfortable to witness and experience. As a Canadian foreigner, this is completely unacceptable!
Even when we were completely compliant with all resort rules and interacted kindly (as Canadians are well reputated for), the staff seemed to go out of their way to give NON-Hindu guests a hard time. They constantly found baseless faults and created a tense, unwelcoming atmosphere. A hospitality venue should make all guests feel valued, but the staff here created a deeply toxic environment.
The only positive thing I can say about Anahita is that the villas themselves are very nice and well-maintained. However, beautiful architecture cannot compensate for racism and a complete lack of basic human respect. Until management addresses this deep-rooted bias among their staff, I highly recommend taking your business and your vacation time elsewhere. Do not support these Racists!
Our stay at Anahita Bay Club was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived until the day we reluctantly departed, every detail reflected a level of luxury, warmth, and professionalism that is increasingly rare to find.
My wife and I spent three unforgettable days at Anahita with our parents as we celebrated my wife's birthday, an annual tradition that has become even more special because of this remarkable sanctuary. Year after year, Anahita continues to exceed our expectations, and this visit was no exception.
One of the things we appreciated most was the genuine care shown by every member of the team. As guests with gluten-free dietary requirements, we often have to explain our needs repeatedly when travelling. At Anahita, however, the chefs and Food & Beverage team handled everything with outstanding attention and care, ensuring every meal was both safe and delicious. The variety, freshness, and quality of the cuisine left not only us but all of our family and invited guests thoroughly impressed.
What truly distinguishes Anahita is its people. Every member of staff welcomed us with sincere smiles, remembered our names, and greeted us with genuine warmth and respect throughout our stay. Their professionalism never felt scripted—it was natural, thoughtful, and heartfelt. They made us feel less like hotel guests and more like family returning home.
Our beautiful sea-view villa offered the perfect balance of elegance and privacy. Waking up to breathtaking ocean views each morning and enjoying the peaceful surroundings made it the ideal setting to unwind and reconnect with our loved ones. The housekeeping team deserves special recognition. Every time we returned after exploring the resort, our villa had been meticulously cleaned and refreshed. Their attention to detail was simply impeccable.
The atmosphere throughout the resort is one of complete serenity. Away from the noise and rush of everyday life, Anahita provides the perfect environment to relax, recharge, and appreciate life's simple pleasures. It is truly a place where time slows down.
As an avid golfer, one of the highlights of my stay was once again playing on the magnificent Ernie Els-designed championship golf course. Without question, it is among the finest and most beautiful golf courses in Africa. The immaculate fairways, spectacular ocean views, and world-class facilities make every round an unforgettable experience.
To make the experience even more memorable, the resort thoughtfully arranged a golf session for me at the breathtaking Île aux Cerfs Golf Club, located on its own island just a short 15-minute boat ride from Anahita. Playing golf surrounded by turquoise lagoons and pristine natural beauty is something every golfer should experience at least once in a lifetime.
Anahita is far more than a luxury resort. It is a world-class sanctuary where elegance meets genuine Mauritian hospitality. It is our romantic escape, our peaceful retreat, and a place where priceless family memories are created.
Our heartfelt gratitude goes to Mr. Manoj and his exceptional team, the talented chefs, the Food & Beverage staff, the Front Office team, the housekeeping staff, and every individual whose dedication and passion make Anahita such an extraordinary destination.
Thank you for another unforgettable stay. We already look forward to returning next year to continue what has become one of our most cherished family traditions.
Until then, Anahita will always hold a special place in our hearts.
We had a wonderful stay at the bay club at anahita. Right from the checkin to checkout the process and assistance was flawless and customer centric. Checkin process:The reception team came to the cab to welcome us to the hotel and helped us with the welcome drink and cold towels. We had reached there by 10.30 am as our flight reached early morning, while teh room was getting cleaned they explained about the property and offered us a complementary breakfast.
Breakfast: The spread is good and staff is very helpful. There aren't any indian options but you have eggs to order, fruits, bread selection, waffles, fritters and some rice options everyday. The coffee is simply amazing.
Stay at the apartment: We were allocated apartment 2105 which was on the second floor and it had partial ocean view and golf view.(we wanted to get a ground floor apartment but it seems you have to mention that in your booking notes). The aprtment was exactly as shown in the images.
Ile aux cerfs: This island has our heart. There is complementary ferry from the jetty every 30 mins. It takes roughly 12-15 mins to reach the island and then a cart drops you to the private beach in 5 mins. Since this is a private beach of teh hotel, it is very peaceful and calm. you can swim and play in the waters but nothing to see with your snorkelling kits. Beware of the sea urchins and star fish. There is small shack serving finger food and drinks on the beach itself.
Swimming pool: The pool is nice and located very near to the actual beach of the hotel but during May the water was tad bit cold. You have a pool bar right next to the pool. There is detox water and some snack placed near the towel counter.
Golf initiation for guests: The hotel offers a complementary golf initiation program where they teach you about the game , the clubs and their use, how to take the shots and all. You are provided with 20-30 balls to play at the end. This was fantastic opportunity for us to learn the game and give it a try.
Family of five travelling to Mauritius for our summer vacation. Due to the war in the Middle East, our flights were changed and we were forced to arrive one day later than planned.
I contacted Anahita Bay (booked through Hotels.com) and asked if they could help us move the dates of our stay at Anahita. They did not want to help us, and said we could only change directly with Hotels.com. The Hotels.com chatbot, and later a customer service representative, were very friendly and assured me that, as a valued customer, they wanted to help. They contacted the The Bay Club Anahita, which agreed to accommodate the change (now really happy) although I was told that the exact same room might not be available. I was then asked to call Hotels.com customer service to finalize the change.
Unfortunately, this is where the experience went downhill. During the call, we discovered that the exact same room was actually available, which made me very happy, until I was told that he Bay Club at Anahita wanted to charge us additional €650 for a single night !!!
So much for helping customers in a difficult and unexpected situation.
What initially seemed like excellent customer service turned into a disappointing experience focused solely on extracting more money from a family affected by circumstances completely beyond our control.
Worst service ever. Don't ever book he Bay Club at Anahita they will not help you in a difficult situation
Highly recommended. Spent a wonderful and memorable weekend. Excellent service. Awesome food. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, special thanks to Mr Soon & team
