LUX Belle Mare

It’s an excellent resort from all aspects of, staff , management and workers, everyone needs to help with any things. Their smiles and welcoming force you to come back. I would like to thank my Villa butler mr Benji and Mehen and their Manager for their help and support which make our holiday more enjoyable and memorable. Thanks for all.

This was our first holiday in nearly 2 years, so we wanted to make it extra special. We spent 5 nights at the Lux Belle Mare in an Ocean View Villa, followed by 4 nights at the One&Only Le Saint Géran. It was me, my wife and our 3.5-year-old son. So as not to spoil the experience for anyone who ultimately stays here, I will not reveal all the ways in which our experience was personalised. But suffice it to say, our needs as a small family were taken care of perfectly, and we really felt like VIPs here.

Resort The resort is beautiful and so well preserved. The pictures you see online do not actually do the resort justice. It is an incredible place to come and stay. The beach is expansive, and the water is a perfectly electric blue. It certainly rivals some of the best Maldivian resorts we've been to. The property is not too big, but it is definitely comfortable enough not to feel claustrophobic. 10/10 on design and aesthetics. You will see all kinds of people here: young couples, older guests, small families and big families, from all over the world. They all seemed to be having a great time and, even with the family-friendliness built in, the resort still has a distinctly premium and luxury feel. 😊

Accommodation We stayed in an Ocean View Villa, with our own private plunge pool and deck, and the beach was merely steps away. The layout was perfect, and the villa did not feel too big, especially with all our son's things with us. The bathroom came with a double vanity and sunken bathtub, as well as a large shower cubicle. The bed was super comfy. The only point I'd recommend here would be for the TV streaming software to be updated. It was a little hit and miss whilst we were there.

Food The food was of a super high standard, both in terms of finish and presentation, and in quality and taste. We really liked the fact that there were fixed stands from various cuisines each night (Indian, Middle Eastern, South-East Asian, etc.) and that the items would change every night, as opposed to a change in the overall theme of the buffet. We ate at Mundo most nights and enjoyed it immensely. Standout items were the chicken shawarma, ajwaini chicken and pilau rice. The desserts were very high-end in both presentation and taste. Where other resorts (in other parts of the world) might provide a bigger variety, Mundo prefers a smaller range, done very well. For our son, there was a kids' buffet that opened at 6pm every night. It was presented at a lower height so that he could see everything, and he enjoyed picking out his favourite items each night, in particular the prawn crackers. There was always children's crockery and cutlery, so this was never an issue. The 6pm start was a perfect time to feed our son and still be done with dinner at a good time to get him to bed! One aspect we loved was that, on one night, we ate at Vineet but weren't sure whether our son would want to eat anything off the menu there. We asked if we could feed him at Mundo first and then head over to Vineet for our reservation, and the staff were very happy to accommodate us. This is a really great example of customer-centric thinking, and we were very grateful for this gesture. Breakfast was always a pleasant experience. Because we were often there early, it was generally quieter, which was great.

Service This is where the Lux really excels. We were greeted very warmly by several staff members upon arrival, who understood all of our needs inherently. Because we had an Ocean View Villa, we had a dedicated butler service. For once, this actually felt like having someone take care of you, not just a replacement for the hotel reception. Our butler team was Benji and Mahen. Big shout-out to them! They were so attentive, responsive and caring. Whenever we asked them for anything, it was taken care of so quickly. We never had to ask for anything twice. The team had set up the villa according to our needs with our son in mind, and Mahen took care to point out all these thoughtful touches as we arrived at the villa, such as the baby cot, baby soap and stepping stool for our son to reach the sink. Consistently, every evening, we were brought canapés by our butler, and desserts were left for us every night to enjoy after dinner. We even requested one afternoon for our pizza from the day before to be reheated for us to have for lunch. We thought this was a little cheeky from our side, but the staff obliged without question. The villa was kept spotless by Ganesh, who was also super friendly. Every staff member you passed would greet you warmly, with the right hand on the heart, as per the traditional Mauritian greeting. The gentleman who manages the butler staff even checked in with me twice during our stay. The first time was at the beginning, more of a coincidental meeting. The second was on our last day, when we had a planned conversation over breakfast to discuss feedback on our stay. Honestly, we could not have been complimentary enough. The staff here are excellent.

Spa The only let-down here is the spa. Prices are very reasonable, which is great. We had 4 hot stone massages in total, and the treatments were executed very well. No complaints there. The problem is that the spa is not a physically impressive space. It doesn't feel like a sanctuary or a hideaway in itself. The changing areas are small. The reception is outdoors, and the general vibe is "quick", not "rushed", but "quick", which is not what a 5-star spa should feel like. The post-treatment relaxation area is outdoors too and mixed in with guests who are using the sauna, etc. Here, the Lux would do well to benchmark itself against the Guerlain spa at the One&Only Le Saint Géran, which is incredible (and only 15 minutes away). It doesn't have to be the Guerlain spa, but it should definitely be closer to it.

Final thoughts There are also many activities for children, and just exploring the resort is very enjoyable. Overall, we were very impressed with the Lux Belle Mare and would recommend it to anyone considering a stay, especially if you have children. I recently visited Lux Belle Mare after my engagement proposal as a treat for my fiancee and I. I wanted our stay to feel special so I contacted Jennifer C from the events team who was an amazing help from start to finish. I had a request to add some decorations to our room to celebrate our engagement. Jennifer and her team were brilliant. We spoke regularly through whatsapp and she kept me posted on the requests I made. When we got there, we were dazzled with how amazing they made the room look. Rose petals, champagne, balloons, and more.

The hospitality at Lux Belle Mare was first class. Jennifer was in contact even during our stay to make sure our time there was extra special. A massive thank you to her and the team.
