Marbella Hotel

Hotel on the beachfront for 2 weeks, fab! The beach area is quite nice with drinks & food service. The bar area is very good, made by the smiling & efficient staff. You can get a pool towel on request from reception. The pool area is nice, i would say a tad small for the hotel, but you also have the beach. The rooms are very decent with a fabulous shower, kept spotless by the excellent housekeeping staff. Breakfast was the only disappointing aspect of the hotel. A nice selection of cold cheeses & fruits etc but the poor selection of "hot food" was also very cold, every day. You could queue up for fried eggs, poached eggs (fab) or a burnt omelette. Such a shame as the hotel is sold only as bed & breakfast. Food at the bar is good, wraps, salads, burgers etc are all excellent. We never tried the restaurant for dinner as returning guests did not give it good reviews.

My wife and I stayed at the Marbella for two weeks in the middle of a hot September And we cant wait to go back. Clean and comfortable rooms with a spacious balcony and a great shower in the WC. Situated on the beach at the end of what I would call the main strip of Bars and restaurants you have access to the hotels beach area, with plenty of sunbeds and staff to take your order for food or drinks. the pool may be small but is adequate for cooling off with the bar area adjacent in which there are tables and chairs for lunch and the staff could not have been nicer. The hotel has its own restaurant, which we ate at twice and could not fault for quality and service. There are plenty of choices at breakfast from cereals to yoghurts and fresh fruit, there is a hot selection including freshly made omelettes and poached, hard boiled or fried eggs. Leaving the hotel you can head left along the promenade to the marina area or turn right and head to Icmeler or turn up the side street and head for the Main Street. This is a Great Hotel in a great location to have a perfect break.

The positives regarding this hotel are friendly staff (apart from two), and the place was very clean. Breakfast was ok and there was always something to eat. We tried the restaurant for lunch and dinner and they were fine too. Although at dinner one night (6 days before they were closing for the season) they couldn’t offer any desserts other than ice cream because of the imminent closure. That’s ridiculous! Unfortunately there were a few negatives. On a daily basis the maid would change all the towels and put fresh bed linen on. She would also use the top sheet to make a ‘linen origami’. This meant that everyday we would have to finish making our bed!! Again. Ridiculous. The bed itself was a standard double and so was the top sheet. It meant me and my wife were constantly pulling it to cover ourselves. At home we put one size bigger on to prevent this. The pillows were a masterclass in trying to find the perfect comfort, but that’s with nearly every hotel we visit.

Lighting in the bedroom is not very good as there’s no centre light. Also no full length mirror. The wardrobe had no full length hanging meaning anything longer than a shirt had to be hung on the outside of the doors. Curved Balconies also lack privacy with minimal segregation. The swimming pool is absolutely freezing. The fresh water being pumped into it was cold. This made anything other than a short paddle impossible. After 45 minutes my feet were still extremely cold. You are given one pool towel at the start of your holiday (you really need two to cover the loungers) after which any subsequent change is charged under the pretext of ‘contributing to the cost of the laundry.’ I’ve never heard such rubbish given that as I’ve stated above, all room towels and bedsheets are changed daily free of charge. Lastly if you want a safe they charge £1.00 per day. Again utterly ridiculous. Add it to the initial holiday cost. Needless to say we never hired one. Based on our experience we won’t be returning or recommending The Marbella Hotel.
