Honeymoon

This is a lovely hotel and the surroundings are so beautiful, we came for 11 nights for our honeymoon, I have some mixed reviews It really is stunning, just a little things let it down, the pool up by the double beds the floor was sticky and was never cleaned till someone mentioned it, we went up their to keep out the way as their was not many English in the hotel and we found a lot of the other guests were extremely rude. A lot of the staff didn’t really understand English spoken people so was difficult to order a drink up at the pool bar unless was the lady with long hair. The pool bar needs more than one staff member on sometimes you could be stood their 20 mins or more waiting for a drink as the other guests were served before the English no matter how long we had been stood their. reception staff barly understood us. Tho can’t fault the guys in the restaurant they were brilliant never without a drink and they all got to no what you drank and you would have another drink at the table and the guys at the reception bar at night were fantastic. I liked the adults only restaurant seating area that was a nice place to go eat. Food wise always something for everyone tho was a little repetitive. But over all I would be happy to return like the way their is no sunbed wars like other hotels in Turkey.

TripAdvisor Review
Underwhelming!

We booked through TUI and stayed here in July as a family of four in two rooms. Overall we enjoyed our stay but fair to say there were issues! So, credit where credit is due:

  1. We booked a Turkish hammam on the first day via Danny at the Ghuru Spa. We all thought this was excellent and great value for money. Thanks to Danny and his friendly and professional team for their welcome throughout our holiday- this was a great start to our trip and is highly recommended if you haven't tried this.
  2. Many thanks to Mustafa (technician / electrician) who helped sort out the numerous issues with the rooms. He communicated well, was engaging and expert and we enjoyed chatting to him about the area and Turkey in a wider sense. A credit to the company and great ambassador for the country!
  3. The hotel benefits from direct access to a lovely beach with hills framing the superb view across Icmeler and Marmaris bays. The beach is well kept, has a "blue flag" rating, is monitored by lifeguards and there is ample space on the loungers which are shaded by a "thatch" umbrella. The sea seemed clean and this was another big positive for us.
  4. Pools were clean and well kept. Together with the beach and scenic view out to sea the environment in general is ideal for holidaymakers.

However, there were issues with this hotel: A. The air-conditioning in our room failed on no less than 3 occasions necessitating trips to reception to sort out problems. Though staff were responsive (thanks Mustafa) the fact is that this is an old hotel, infrastructure is failing and so things break down. I note on the website that it was refurbished in 2013 and it seemed to us that more staff were employed keeping the place running instead of where they should be ie "front of house". B. We also had issues with the electronic door access to the rooms- again time taken away from relaxing and a nuisance value after the second or third incident. C. The towel holder fell off the wall in our room and the hair dryer needed to be replaced in the girls' room. This detracted from the holiday as we were always having to keep an eye on admin which should not be the case in a hotel marketed as a 5 STAR. On that occasion, when reported to reception, the staff asked if we could remind them again in the morning which made me think there was no real way of monitoring what work actually needed to be done and necessitated a second visit to reception. D. Food was average and repetitive. Flies plagued the dining room which doesn't help the appetite (we didn't have this issue last year at a different Turkish hotel). If you brand as luxury / 5* you anticipate a high quality of food and this didn't deliver. Queues formed quickly for popular options (usually from the grill) and it seemed odd to us that this wasn't mitigated by the hotel, in fact they seemed to accept this as the status quo. Given that the hotel wasn't at capacity when we were there, I would be interested to see if queuing for 10 minutes for some grilled fish (bonefish?) or meat (often chewy / fatty) is consistent with a high-end experience. E. Drinks also were inconsistent and it seemed there was no standard recipe for cocktails- you ordered something and taste was dependent on the maker and their skill and experience level. On one occasion a request for a Baby Guinness provoked an undrinkable fruit based concoction that had curdled (this was despite confirming knowledge of what was being asked for). On a second occasion, a request for a strawberry daiquiri was met with the makings of a previous customer's drink- the bartender moved on before he could be challenged and by that time I had lost the will to live so found a bottle of water (unchilled). F. Staff were on the whole polite and friendly and trying their best but it was clear to us that they were underpowered ie, they needed the hotel to invest in them as far as hospitality and language skills are concerned and they were rushed off their feet attempting to cover too many bases at once. As a result, attentiveness suffered and the experience was definitely not one you would place in the 5* bracket. So all in all a mixed affair and I hope this provides a balanced view so you can draw your own conclusions.

Hotel is more poor 4* then 5*

We were very disappointed with our stay. This hotel simply does not feel like a 5-star property, nor does it look like it has been recently renovated. The bathrooms in the rooms are more comparable to those of a 3-star hotel.

The biggest disappointment was the food and beverage selection. The buffet was almost exactly the same every single day, with very little variety. They even removed the chocolate spread for the pancakes at breakfast after the first few days, which was surprising for a hotel of this category. The juices were poured from already opened 2-liter bottles, so they had lost their freshness and carbonation. The desserts were bland and lacked flavor. There weren’t even pistachio baklava, which I’ve seen in virtually every 5-star hotel I’ve visited in Turkey—and I’ve stayed in many of them.

To make things worse, the snack bar even removed pizza from the menu during the last few days of our stay, further reducing the already limited food options. The worst thing I think is that in the land of bananas, I need to ask every day in restaurant to give me two bananas for my babys. They dont have it in the fruits corner at all. Sometimes they gave me sometimes they didn’t..

Overall, the quality and variety of the food and drinks are far below what you would expect from a 5-star hotel, especially considering the price we paid. Last summer we stayed at Club Turban for less money, and the food there was outstanding in comparison.

It honestly feels as though this hotel has a management problem when it comes to its food and beverage operations.

The only positive aspect was the staff. Every member of the team was incredibly kind, friendly, and helpful, and we truly appreciate their effort. Unfortunately, great service alone cannot make up for such a disappointing dining experience.
