Friendly attentive staff and a lovely, peaceful hotel. Our room was cleaned daily and was always fresh. Ideal location right on the river and only a short walk into town. Would highly recommend to everyone.
We have just returned from our third stay at this hotel and have already booked again for 2027. As soon as we arrive we feel ‘at home’ greeted again by the owners and staff who always do everything they can to make our stay with them as happy and comfortable as they possibly can.
The hotel is impeccably clean. The buffet breakfast has excellent hot and cold choices and they also have a very varied lunchtime menu available.
The pool and poolside area is wonderful and there are always enough sunbeds for everyone. If you don’t want to be poolside you can just pop over the little road to the riverside garden which has lots of seating areas, hammocks and even a four poster bed to relax on.
Due to the location and style of the hotel and pool it doesn’t attract many families with children (as much as we love our grandchildren) it makes for a really peaceful atmosphere, allowing everyone to relax with gentle music playing in the background and people enjoying a natter. Indeed we often meet the same friends we’d met on previous years which is a really lovely bonus.
The owners are lovely, always around the hotel, often serving at the bar or doing a little gardening and their two daughters and dog; Kashmir are just delightful!
Special shout out to Eyüp on reception who is incredibly helpful and always smiling and also to Ramz who provides service with a smile at the poolside bar mixing fantastic cocktails.
We can highly recommend this hotel but please don’t tell anyone because we don’t ever want it to be too full for our yearly ‘relaxation fix’ 😂
Where do you start to describe the Potakal hotel, this place is simply fantastic. From the moment you arrive you are treated like family, every member of staff is so friendly and helpful, always giving you a smile and a wave. The hotel is spotlessly clean and you never go a minute without seeing the staff doing something. The staff will do anything they can to make your holiday just perfect.
The rooms are nice and spacious with a large comfy bed and most importantly air conditioning ( at no extra cost) ( we needed this as it was 102 degrees lol), the bathroom is spacious, with a shower with a very small step.
The bar has a friendly atmosphere and is located next to the pool, with a great selection of drinks and cocktails as well as a tv where we watched the England World Cup games ( all the staff wearing England football shirts for the occasion).
Breakfast is a good selection of both hot and cold food, ( meats, cheese, fruit, cereal, toast, sausage, eggs, fried potatoes etc) all served between 8 and 10am. Lunchtime food is also available in the breakfast area ( which is both indoors and outdoors) up to 1600 hrs and is very tasty and well priced.
The pool is beautiful with a good amount of sun-beds around it but without it being overcrowded. The pool has sloped steps at one end given easy access to the to those less mobile ( this was a key factor to us choosing this hotel as we took my 80 year old mother in law, who wouldn’t have been able to access the pool using just the normal pool steps).
The location of the hotel is right on the river so perfect to just sit and watch the boats going up and down the river. The is a small shop about a 4 min walk away should you need any supplies. A walk into town is about 12- 20 mins walking depending on your speed or the hotel will happily order you a taxi which is only 2500TL.
Lovely touch with the hotel management coming to see you off and say goodbye also.
Would I come back to the portakal hotel …..YES 100%, I’d be booking to return today if I could 😀
We loved our stay at the Portakal! What a fabulous hotel. The staff were absolutely great, so friendly and helpful. The location is lovely, it’s right by the river so a beautiful place to watch the boats. It’s an easy, flat walk to town. The pool, the bar, the breakfast/lunch area and our rooms were all really well maintained, very clean and comfortable. In summary, a lovely hotel, and brilliant staff. We really enjoyed our stay there and would love to return ASAP!
The Portakal hotel is very sweet, friendly hotel. Perfect for people who want a relaxing holiday, all the staff are lovely and work very hard to make sure you have a great time. The rooms & bathrooms are huge and have lots of storage and amenities. They have a small breakfast selection but all fresh and delicious, the snack bar is actually a full lunch menu including pizza and salads & grilled meats which is open 12-4pm. They also have a bar which is open all day & night that sells drinks & ice creams. The pool is huge & really nice. There is a 5 min walk down the road to lots of restaurants and shops some selling tourist stuff but also some with really nice local art etc. I would definitely go back to the Portakal I had a great time.
