Royal Asarlik Beach Hotel

We enjoyed our first visit to Turkey . Staff were exceptional and friendly . Good service ! Especially our waiter Mustafa (I get a picture later he was a busy guy).

Lovely location beachfront and watersports / trips available at a variety of prices .

We made use of hiring a electric catamaran and took it out with friends for two hours .Good price organised by the hotel staff Vadat .

Variety of food , could been bit warmer but choice available to meet everyone's requirements . Booking the a la carte options was not great due to queuing for 45 minutes then finding some were not open . Maybe a better system to do this would be a recommendation.?

Room was clean and comfortable but a little tired as in decor and some maintainance required.But no complaints otherwise .

Near bus route to Bodrum and taxi s available . Other bars and restaurants in walking distance if you required a change of scenery .

Historical sites like Bodrum castle well worth visiting ( but not if you have mobility issues) and the windmills . Other places of interest available and tours to these as further afield .

Walked to nearby Bitez lovely quieter beach. .

Our friends arrived two days before our departure and messaged to say no kettle in room and hotel would not supply one. I called EasyJet who assured me that a basic amenity kettle would be provided. We had been given an upgraded Relax Room, spacious room but very tired and the shower room stank of drains/mouldy cabbage. We then noticed two cracks side to side and one vertical in the sliding patio door, very dangerous. Called reception (safe not working either) bell boy attended took pictures. Two days later nothing further went to reception and they said maintenance was on way, 20 minutes later maintenance guy arrived armed with a can of WD40 looked at the cracks went arghh and took pictures. 2 days later I chased with EasyJet, 2 days later they offered to move us to a sea view room, but by that point we're halfway through the holiday so didn't take up the offer. Food is good if only they could keep it hot or even just warm would be an improvement. There's only one toaster for 450 guest's. Main bar only had out of date (May 25) tonic that was flat, red wine was absolute paint stripper. Sweet cheap mixer's so most cocktail's were sugary. Nice location on the beach. Two swimming pools with a whirlpool between them, the whirlpool does not work asked the life guard and he just said ah not worked in ages. The disco pool is a decent size if you can stand the boom boom music at full blast. Generally the staff are 10/10 reception staff have limited English. Majority of hotel guests are Russians. Gumbet bay was a dirty mess with discarded cigarette ends all over the beaches and lots of large dog turds. Nice guy selling the boat trips, eventually he accepted we were not interested in an all day trip. We did hire an electric catamaran for two hours and pootle around the bay. Wouldn't return to this hotel or Gumbet.
