Lovely hotel

Lovely hotel, great food at the buffet, lots of entertainment and very friendly staff

TripAdvisor Review
Enjoyed our stay but the hotel needs some work

We did enjoy our holiday but the hotel wasn't really up to our usual standards

The goods things - The food is lovely, i was worried when i saw reviews saying there wasn't much choice or the food wasn't good.. Unless you like bland boring food, you'll be fine because the food was full of flavor and there was plenty of choices!! The restaurant round the pool always had rice, kebab chicken, salad, and turkish wraps which were my favourite (along with pizza, chicken nuggets, burgers, pasta) Our room was really nice and kept clean by the maids but we did pay extra for the sea view room so our room was bigger than the basic ones. Also had a lot of wardrobe space which was nice. Most of the staff were lovely and really helpful, Burska who was usually down at the sea bar was so lovely and the special drink that she made was amazing, we drank this most of the holiday They also have an ice cream cart near the front door of the main building after dinner which was really good too.

The not so good The beach is pretty small and runs along the whole hotel, there is no Jetty there anymore like there it shows on the pictures on here so that was really disappointing. The sand isn't nice sand, its hard and full of stones. There is a beach which is also open to the locals next to the hotel (after you walk past the watersports hut) which is a lot nicer and not so stoney because the sea at the hotel is extremely stoney, you will need sea shoes!! We didn't really go round the pool much because it was in the sun for like 2 hours in the morning and then is shaded the rest of the day. The hotel itself is pretty dated and really needs a remodel, the toilets would sometimes smell which I found horrible and really didn't like.

All in all I would say this hotel is a 3 star hotel and I wouldn't return or recommend anyone I knew to stay

We had high hopes for this hotel after looking at photos, website and other reviews. Unfortunately it fell pretty short from what we expected from a 5* resort. This is a 3* hotel in our opinion.

When we checked in the man who spoke to us wasn’t the friendliest, took our passports and disappeared with them (not a good first impression) we wasn’t given any information at all regarding the hotel other than shown to our room. We didn’t know what time the restaurants opened, where the pools were, what time the entertainment started, nothing.

The room wasn’t too bad, quite small but fairly modern. The view we had wasn’t great, we overlooked the staff area and bin storage. The bed was extremely uncomfortable and was given a thin blanket as a duvet with overnight temperatures dropping below 8 degrees some nights. They did eventually give us a duvet after asking reception 3 times and a 2 hour wait. The room cleaning was hit and miss, one day it wasn’t cleaned at all and another time they left out used towels on the floor by the door which we had clearly left there to be changed. All rooms have Air-con which works well but it’s loud.

The food was probably the biggest disappointment of the holiday. The main buffet style restaurant is extremely busy, you struggle to find a table (we went in low season!) and it serves the exact same thing every day, there is a variety of maybe 2 -3 dishes through the week. The actual quality of the food wasn’t too bad but again far from what you expect in a 5*. The snack bar opens from 12pm-4pm and again serves the same thing every day (burgers, chips, nuggets & salad). The snack bar does serve traditional chicken donner which is very nice. After 4pm the only food available is the sandwich & panini bar (which only had paninis on the final day all other times was toasted sandwiches) until 7pm when the main dinner opens. This can be a long time to wait between food, especially if you arrive to the hotel around 4pm after a whole day’s travelling. There are 4 À la carte restaurants - Italian, Asian, Turkish and Seafood. You can only choose one to use per week which I think is a bit of a shame. We used the Asian one, it’s a set menu and honestly the only positive was that it was something different to the main restaurant.

The drinks are ok, probably the best alcohol wise that we’ve had at an all inclusive resort and didn’t taste like paint stripper. The let down is the juice and syrups in the cocktails are all so sweet they put you off after a couple of them. There is a ‘Starbucks’ it’s ok but don’t get your hopes up for a traditional Starbucks as you know it. The queue is also always massive.

Staff are all pretty friendly and do try their best with English so I can’t fault them.

Entertainment is mediocre, not much in the day time. Evening entertainment can be good or totally shocking, we had acrobats one night who were fantastic, followed by “Miss Duja” which we left after the first round with 4 female guests competing against each other. Absolutely shocking. One night there was bingo which cost €5 per ticket (not book just a single bingo box) with prizes where you could win a massage, bottle of alcohol or a meal at one of À la carte restaurants. I don’t think we should have to pay to participate in the entertainment.

The pool and beach are disappointing. The main pool isn’t that big and the sun loungers are packed in like sardines, you have to squeeze past everyone to get to the bar so there’s no relaxing with people trampling past every 2 mins. The music round the main pool is also ridiculously loud. If you don’t get to the pool by 8am you won’t get a lounger in the sun as the hotel building creates shade most of the day other than a small section in the middle which as you can expect is always packed. The slides are pretty fun though! The beach is stoney, nothing the hotel can do about that but just be warned and bring shoes. Same situation with the sun loungers, if you don’t get there early you won’t get one, there just isn’t enough sun loungers. The view at the beach is absolutely beautiful so definitely worth a visit.

The hotel grounds are well maintained, not a huge amount of flowers or colour as you usually get in other resorts. There are lots of cats & kittens that live at the hotel which if you like animals you’ll be in heaven as they are very friendly, however if you don’t like cats you may have an issue.

There’s some shops in the hotel which sell some good things but a bit on the expensive side considering what you can get usually in Turkey.

We did happen to one day sneak round the beach and into the neighbouring hotel where we made use of their all inclusive facilities which are just better in every aspect quite frankly.

We did enjoy our holiday at Duja Didim but would we go back? No.
