We have just returned home after a second visit to Barut Goia and found this year to be disappointing compared to our visit last July. We returned with extended family members this year as they were keen to visit for themselves after hearing about our fantastic experience last year and we left feeling disappointed that this year didn’t live up to the same experience we had on our last visit. I’ll start with the positives as not everything is bad-
The negatives-
The buffet restaurant was the same, understaffed and the poor staff were running round and didn’t stop. They clearly couldn’t keep up with the workload as lots of tables were left waiting to be cleaned and reset and we were often stood around waiting for a table to be cleaned before we could sit and eat. Last year tables were cleaned instantly as soon as guests got up and left enabling the next guests to sit down without a wait. This is not acceptable for a 5 star hotel. The staff who were working under pressure still smiled and greeted us even though it was clear they were struggling. Understaffing was clear in the housekeeping department too and we felt sorry for our maid who was also clearly overworked and didn’t have time to clean our room as thoroughly as last year, often only changing bedding and towels and a quick sweep of the floor. Last year there was a team of housekeepers working on the same corridor together whereas this year we only saw the one maid on her own.
The food whilst still very nice and lots of choice, has clearly had some budget cuts as last year there was smoked salmon available for breakfast daily and I only seen it available twice during our 14 day stay. It was replaced by cheaper variety’s of fish which is disappointing. Last year crawfish and crabs were available for dinner some nights and this year not available at all. A lack of seafood in general this year. Also witnessed a lot of flies landing around the salad and cold meats which is concerning and nothing being done to deter insects.
Branded drinks were not served this year when asked for and we were often served the cheap local equivalent instead. I often asked for branded Malibu and baileys and was given the cheap white rum and Irish cream liquor instead. Last year branded drinks were served as standard when asked for.
No evening pool parties or synchronised swimming as we saw last year. Our children were also looking forward to the interactive games they had by the pool in the evening once a week however this was not on the schedule this year.
Animation team- disappointing compared to last years team. With the exception of Liza who went out of her way to interact with our family and had some lovely chats in the evenings, the rest of the team lacked any kind of personality and were honestly quite boring for an entertainment team! Last years team were full of life, went out of their way to engage with guests and had energy. This year the team looked like they didn’t actually really enjoy their jobs, barely engaged and didn’t really make any eye contact when passing by.
Reception team were quite rude, abrupt and lacked customer service skills. When checking out we handed the key cards back and the lady at reception barely engaged and simply said “that’s all bye” not even a thanks for staying or asked if we enjoyed our stay, literally nothing. Poor for a 5 star hotel.
The bell boy who helped us with our luggage in the luggage room was amazing and was extremely helpful and friendly.
Overall we had a pleasant stay however we would not return back to Barut Goia as it is clear that the hotel is cutting back on their budgeting and the standards no longer meet 5 stars in our opinion as a lot of things offered last year are no longer available and the prices they are charging no longer reflect the same standards offered. When speaking to other guests during our stay who also have visited in previous years, they have all said the standards are not the same this year. It’s a shame as the hotel will lose returning guests.
This was our 2nd visit to the hotel after a fantastic time last July. Unfortunately this time round did not have the same vibe or excitement. The reception team have zero personality and barely engage in conversation when approached. The biggest issue with them when checking out, to not even be asked if you have had a good stay which should be generic. Constantly having to wait to be served at bar areas as there is only 1 member of staff where as last year they had multiple staff and staff would bring you another drink before finishing the 1st one. A few times waiting at the bar (which was open for serving busy pool side to go inside and wait there as he was the only member of staff serving, surely if you have 2 bars open it would make sense to have at least 2 staff as minimum. The same issues with the restaurant and cleaning. Minimal staffing for a large hotel. The staff that were there worked very hard and could not fault them, it's too much work for that amount of staff. The food was so much better last year with salmon etc served every day where as this year only seen it once. Entertainment team bar the odd person did not have the same up and go and vibe as last year. Overall based on this year's holiday as much as we loved this place last year, we will not be returning again any time soon.
Stayed for 11 nights in July 26.
Absolutely outstanding hotel, can't wait to return.
By Turkeys standards its a small hotel. We had a first floor room on the entertainment side, our maid Gonul was fab and the room was immaculate. Food was always great, not once did we struggle to find something to eat. Favourite lunches were at the Fely al a carte, or pool bar sandwiches and waffles. Main meals at the Olea and Fely a la cartes were beautiful. Set a reminder and sent WhatsApp at 9am and was easy to book, anytime after 9.10 and you've low chance of getting in as they book half capacity. No sunbed wars, always somewhere to sit. Of course, there were maybe 2 dozen European stereotypes that reserved sunbeds and didn't appear until 3pm... But even so there was plenty. Evening entertainment was a bit poor compared to the cost of the hotel and other turkey hotels, but was fine and entertained the kids. This is the first hotel I've been to where the staff all seem to genuinely love being there, not one person was rude. We tipped accordingly because they work hard, the maid worked her socks off. We took taxis to manavgat market €17 each way, and to the old town €10 each way - the taxi rank outside the hotel has set prices and we liked that. The walk to the roundabout was ten mins and we walked it several times. Word of warning..... The football shirt shop downstairs is a scammer - the shirts on show are better quality, the ones in the boxes are absolutely awful. But for 12€ I thought it keeps the kids happy - when we got to pay he said I misheard it was 20€ a shirt and as my son had tried it on we had to take it. I met another person he did this to so be on guard! He's not hotel staff and rents the unit but it really knocks the reputation of the hotel. We used GetYourGuide app for 2 excursions, absolutely brilliant and a fraction of the price of Jet2 and the guys on the street.
We would return without a second thought. If I could pick one thing to change, it would be to add ice lollies & cornets, scooped ice-cream just doesn't hit the same on a hot day
this is my second time at barut goia. my first visit was october 2025. the hotel is good. the rooms are very spacious and good layout. drinks are good quality. food unfortunately isn’t great. the buffet doesn’t have much choice and there were a few nights where there was nothing i would eat apart from chips (i am however picky) the buffet restaurant itself is small, and you’re lucky to find a seat indoors. the outdoor section of the buffet has lots of seating but it was far too hot to sit out there. you are rarely approached by waiters to get a drink, which is one of the main points as to why i think the hotel is not a 5 star. the orange juice in the morning (freshly squeezed) tasted very watered down this visit compared to my visit in october, and compared to the other baruts i have visited (arum, anda, hemera)
there are only 2 ala carte restaurants, and they are not unlimited like they are at the other baruts. the food also isn’t great, it is better than the buffet though. i would not reccomend visiting the hotel for longer than a week as there is not enough food variation. the class of people at the hotel is very different than the other baruts, the level of disrespect from some of the other people staying was actually quite unbelievable. we had people sitting on our sunbeds whilst we were on them when there was free sunbeds around us!!
the man who checked us in at reception did not check us in properly, he called the room at 12:30am asking me to return to the front desk as he hadn’t scanned my passport properly. i went down immediately, however half an hour later (an hour after we had arrived) we had still not been let into the wifi. we went back to reception to ask and he said give me 20 mins. 20 mins later we were still not on. by the time we were actually let into the wifi, we had been at the hotel for 2 hours.
the pillows were absolutely awful, like sleeping on a rock. apparently you can ask for different pillows at reception but i wasn’t aware of this, it’s something to bare in mind if you will be staying soon.
overall i would reccomend the hotel, for the price it is good value. but if you are a barut fan like me, don’t expect the same quality and service compared to the others as this does not come close. i would say this is more of a 4 star hotel rather than 5. i would return, but only for a cheap break for a few days rather than a 10-14 day holiday.
I have just returned back from a 10 night stay at the Barut Goia, Side Antalya, and this hotel did not disappoint. Food - the food was excellent, there was something different every meal every day, with fresh fruit and salad available all the time. For me there was defiantly enough choice. The attention to detail on the presentation of the food was outstanding and there was a constant replenishment of food if something was running low. Service - the service at this hotel again was top notch, nothing was ever too much trouble. the waiting staff work tirelessly, cleaning tables, refilling drinks, I want to give a special mention to restaurant worker Mehmet he made every evening meal delightful, remembering our drink orders - amazing. Also the housekeeping staff, again fantastic, rooms changed and cleaned everyday, fresh bedding, towels, minibar restocked so polite and a pleasure to chat to. Pool / beach - the pool areas were kept clean and tidy all the time, staff walking around clearing glasses and plates from sunbed areas, with floors and pool areas immediately cleaned. We had a couple of days by the beach which was beautiful. The food and staff at the beach bar were excellent. Obviously the food choice was not as extensive as the main hotel restaurant but still plenty to choose from. We spent most of our time around the main "activities pool" side with the water slides, music and activities etc. we did have a walk a couple of times on the "other side" of the hotel where the tennis courts and other a la carte restaurant is, and it was quite. There were always plenty of sunbeds available throughout the day across both pools and the beach. Entertainment - this blew my mind... the evening entertaining shows this hotel put on was one of the best I have ever seen. Every evening something different and just as amazing, then live music outside on the terrace - dance the night away and make amazing memories. I just want to say a special mention to entertainment team Anel, you are amazing, such good laughs and what memories we have created together... your exercise classes are fun, engaging and I loved them all. The rest of the entertainment team were also amazing, polite, and helpful. We didn't use the kids club, but there were plenty of kids and appeared to like the staff that ran that. There are plenty of activities to get involved with and the team are always welcoming. Overall - this hotel and holiday for me was fantastic, the staff were amazing and a simple polite "hello or good morning / evening" or a smile , a wave, acknowledgement and a simple thank you / please, do go a long way. I never normally return back to the same area or a hotel, but this one for me is a total exception... I will defiantly be returning later this year and in the future. Do not take any notice of any of the negative comments about this hotel, this hotel will not disappoint you. Enjoy the "showtime" it was "suppper" and feel the "magic in the air"!!! Get up and Dance
