Lara

Opened in 2005 and renovated in Winter 2018-2019, this hotel is situated on 72,000 m2 of an extraordinary garden and pool landscape frontline to the beach and the warm waters of the Mediterranean Sea. The city centre of Antalya is only 17 km away, while the international airport can be reached within a short drive. The hotel excels in every aspect: it features various pools including a vast lagoon-style pool, the largest of the Lara region with more than 3,000 m2. Children will love the children's pools with slides and animation as well as the mini club with cinema, mini disco and a host of other activities. Guests can spoil their taste buds in a buffet and various delicious à la carte restaurants, while 9 bars invite to have a drink. Excellent sports facilities including a bowling alley, an amphitheatre for 1,000 people and a wonderful spa & wellness area complete the offer.

Disappointing for a 5 star hotel

We had a nice time but it's not a 5 star hotel.

Me and my family, 2 adults and 2 children aged 5 years and 8 months, stayed here for 5 days and nights. Having stayed in other 5 star hotels in Turkey it definitely doesn't make the cut. There are some 5 star elements, some 4 star and some things you would expect to find in a 3 star hotel.

Firstly, the hotel itself is lovely with a nice design, very large pool area, nice beach and really good water park at the back. Visually its an appealing hotel as are the rooms. The man on reception when we checked in (at 3am) was polite and the hotel porter was extremely helpful. There is a midnight bar/restaurant so we managed to get food and drinks which was good.

Our room: positive parts, the room was large, nicely laid out, clean, had a safe, mini fridge, hair dryer, plenty of wardrobe space, a secure balcony and we were provided with a good travel cot upon request. Negatives: the bathroom is very basic, as are the toiletries provided, the mini fridge wasnt very cold, the aircon isnt great, the bed is hard and pillows feel like plastic, but the worst part is the sound insulation. You can hear everything, other peopels babies crying, everything in the corridor, the call to prayer at 5.30am etc. If you have booked do yourself a favour and take ear plugs. Little details are lacking that you would expect in a 5 star hotel, for example the tea and coffee in the room isnt refilled every day and you're given tiny wooden stirrers rather than a spoon. The mini fridge isnt very cold and lacks options. The aircon isnt very good, the beds aren't made properly after use. Its the little things that make a hotel 5 star and this was below par in the rooms.

Food. There is always food available but finding it is ridiculous. There are different bars and food stalls across the pool area, beach and water park but they open and close for periods of a few hours and you find yourself having to constantly keep and eye on the clock to know what's open when and where. Ice cream for example is only available 12-3 by the pool and then closes. At all the other 5 star hotels I've been to the different food places are open most of the day. The food is average, not bad but not great, and alot of the servers seem genuinely pissed off that you're there. Some just completely ignore you no matter how many pleases and thank yous you offer. The beach bar stops serving at 6pm which means there is no where to sit on the beach with a drink and watch the sunset, definitely missing a trick here. The main restaurant offers basic food, is very loud and noisy , I recommend sitting outside as its much more peaceful. The deserts are lovely and beautifully crafted but overall its more 3/4 star than 5.

Towels. Do not go to the water park without getting your towels first, or you'll have to walk all the way back to the main pool area as there is only one towel place. Same with the beach.

I think if it was rated a 3 star hotel I would have been impressed, a 4 star hotel it would have just met my expectations but being rated 5 stars you're very underwhelmed.

Overall we still had a good time as the little boy loved the water park and pool, and the weather was good but I wouldnt go back or recommend it unfortunately.

Luxury hotel no good for teenagers or younger couples

Hotel is beautiful by far a 4/5 star rating perfectly maintained and spotlessly clean , fresh towels and a re stock mini fridge daily. Rooms are immaculate. Pools and pool areas are vast 4 kids pools and 1 huge adult & family area that goes all round the one side of the hotel. Beach and peir area also clean and well maintained beach sun huts are extra cost . Hairdryers in room. Fun fair for small children onsite. Basketball court archery etc all going on. Beach volleyball. Kettle in room, frige , safe, hairdryer , tv with 4 english news channels so if u are coming here bring something to watch or u will be climbing the walls with boredom. Beds by the way are rock solid like hard ass the floor but clean and big

Resturant = 1 main Pool bars all open various times but u can eat & drink 24 hours

Shops outside of front entrance

Beach bar

On the beach u can do jet car/ ski para saling / snorkle u can not take your phones but they capture drone footage which is high quality. The price is high to do this and u can get cheaper down the road but it is handy and no messing about because its just there.

Entertainment is very bad, this let down the holiday in fact its shocking. Firstly the game room closes at 10 they say 11 but no one was there after 10 so u cant even have a game of pool after the show. 1 activity round the pool daily, no activities at kids pools slides are great fun and lots of them. Fun fair no good for teenagers. One show per evening and a kids disco. After 10:30 absolutly nothing the pool bar is open but literally the whole place goes quiet and there are no pubs or clubs outside the complex. Lots of screaming kids and nothing really happening for them. The entertainment for adults is nothing short of boring. For the cost of the holiday this really needs to be addressed.

Food - is to taste some good some poor but lots of it .

Go on get yr guide for entertainment & excursions.

Would i recommend this hotel

If u have young children and want an early night yes .

If you have teenagers or older kids and want to stay up later no

If u are a couple and wants a quiet break early nights yes

No cash point or money exchange on site but cashpoints over the shops across the road. BRING EURO not pound or lira !!!! Everything and i mean everything is priced in euro. Taxis are quiet cheap but make them put the meter on or they will have u.

All in all 5 star hotel visually 3 stars if that for everything else. Which is very sad as it has good potential.

Get yourself a better entertainments team

Lovely hotel! 6th visit

We visited end of August / early September for the 6th time & always a lovely stay. The reception staff are always very helpful. Our son is disabled and the guest relations assisted (like they do each year) to ensure we had sunbeds with disabled revered signs. We also had help from the restaurant management to kindly reserve a table to allow for room for our son’s disabled buggy. The staff always are so kind and friendly to our children and go above and beyond to help us. We always book a superior sea view room which is very spacious for our family. The maid and mini barman very helpful and polite. We email the hotel ahead of our stay and request for the chair bed to bed made up ready for one of our boys for late night arrivals. Always so much choice of food in the main restaurant and we also ate the pizza / kebabs / ice cream etc near the pool. Weve never had any issues with stomach problems, food is always cooked so well and so much selection. One of our sons went to the kids club various times (thank you Katife and team) and we sat at the pool very close by to the club without disabled son. All the staff work very hard - from the cleaners around the pool, the roller blade guy with your drinks, the bar staff, restaurant staff, cleaners, front of house / reception team, bell boys, all very helpful and polite. We had a photoshoot done with our good friend Mete who has known us for many years. Shops on site, funfair on site and open certain hours across the day. The children’s loved the smaller water slides whilst Daddy went on the big ones! The lifeguards are always around and on watch. There is a arcade on site, we didn’t use it much this time round but a great selection of games and bowling for the family. There are lagoon suite villas on site which we are looking to stay at next year. These can be upgraded I believe at reception on arrival / not bookable via their website. Plenty of shops across the road and in each direction as you come out of the hotel. The reception staff kindly helped with a late check out due to our disabled son, I was in contact with them leading up to the departure day and paid the late check out fee that morning. We are already looking to book up again for next year. Thank you again for a lovely stay!

Great Holiday

Just back from our 7th visit to Royal Wings Hotel, it has everything we need, plenty of sunbeds,( although we did witness hotel staff removing towels on unoccupied beds before 9am & quite rightly so, if only other hotels did the same, it makes it fair for everyone.) Plenty of choice with food, something for all tastes, you can literally eat & drink 24/7 if that's what you choose to do. Staff very polite & helpful, we always tip as we appreciate the hard work & long hours they all seem to do. Entertainment is fine, much better than we have experienced in other hotels, they seem to hire in for the evenings. If we had one tiny criticism about this hotel it would be lack of curtesy rooms, if you have a late flight, you use the shower at the spa which is tiny & not that great.

ROYAL WINGS ELITE REVIEW 👑

★★★★★ — We came for a holiday. Royal Wings gave me myself back.

Some holidays give you a break. This one meant much more.

My wife Tina and I absolutely loved Royal Wings. A beautiful hotel, excellent pools, great food and drinks, brilliant entertainment and hospitality with real warmth behind it. We enjoyed lively days, chilled days, big nights and relaxed evenings—and the hotel delivered on all of them.

But what we’ll remember most is the people.

I arrived after a very difficult period in my life, including a hospital admission following a mental health breakdown. I’d lost a lot of myself along the way. Spending this time with Tina, laughing, relaxing and enjoying life again meant more than I can properly put into words. During this holiday, I started feeling like me again.

That is why this review comes from the heart.

THE ENTERTAINMENT DESERVES A MASSIVE THANK YOU

Umut, Ibo, Ugurcan, Bahar, Emir, Sofia and Yilmaz—you helped make our holiday. Great fun, lovely people and so much energy. We came away feeling we’d made friends.

From the daytime entertainment around the pool bar to the live shows at night, the team knocked it out of the park. They were a huge part of the atmosphere we loved so much.

The dance night was a particular highlight. Banging music, European dance favourites and international bangers—they had the lot! A brilliant atmosphere and an absolute class night.

Samba night was awesome too! Another real highlight, and together with the other live shows, it made the evenings something to look forward to. We had such a good time.

JUST AS GOOD WHEN YOU WANT TO SLOW DOWN

One of the best things about Royal Wings is that you can be as lively or as chilled as you want. We did both ourselves.

The pools are excellent, the water park is brilliant and the fairground adds another bit of fun. There’s plenty to enjoy when you want to get involved, and we also loved taking things at our own pace and simply enjoying being away together.

Our relaxed evenings deserve a special mention because of our mate Mehmet Şimşek in the lobby bar. Mehmet, thank you for the brilliant service, warm welcome and that great smile. You made us feel at home and became a real part of our holiday. Those quieter moments mattered just as much to us as the big entertainment nights.

HOSPITALITY THAT FEELS PERSONAL

A special thank you to Mehmet Kara. Such a friendly manager, and very much part of the experience himself. Whenever we saw him, he would shake our hands and make us feel welcome, while still keeping an eye on things and looking after the hotel.

That presence makes a difference. You feel acknowledged and appreciated as a guest, and we certainly appreciated it in return.

We thoroughly enjoyed the food and drinks throughout our stay. Add the beautiful hotel, the pools, the facilities and the entertainment, and it was a top-tier experience for us. But it’s the warmth of the people that ties everything together.

WE’LL BE BACK

I could write a book about what this holiday meant to us. The simplest thing I can say is that we arrived needing a break and left with wonderful memories, new friends and a feeling I’d badly missed: being myself.

To everyone who helped make that happen, thank you.

Royal Wings, we absolutely love the place. Five stars from Scott and Tina, wholeheartedly—and we’ll be returning as soon as we can.
