Not what we expected

Firstly I agree whole heartedly with Sue S, we were there for 11 nights from 22 June. The first few days were not as busy so pool areas were easily accessible but come the weekend it became horrendously busy. Children were climbing on one of the bridges over the pool and jumping off, they were just watched by a female life guard that just walked to the bridge to deter them then walked away and so they continued with this very dangerous activity, someone could have been seriously injured. The pool temperature was perfect but the constant banging music all day long with no change in genre was dreadful and ruined the experience, it was also playing loudly through the speakers in the pool eating area. Having sat in different locations around the pools we found some pool areas were never serviced at all by the waiters so we collected our own drinks from the bars, however we found most guests were arrogant, rude and self centered at the bars and everywhere in the hotel, they jumped queues and the staff let them do so. Meals in the main restaurant were tremendously disappointing, first you had to find a free table, the “hot” food was always lukewarm or cold severely restricting what we ate. The plate warmers were never on until the last 2 days we actually found 1. The food platters were never warm, even the ones with a temperature gauge were below temperature, this is not good. The best food we had was the pool area where we actually had some hot food. We found the staff in the restaurant were always very pleasant but busy and helpful. Rooms were a great size but we found you could not secure a late checkout until the morning of departure. We were glad that the holiday came to an end and will not be returning to this hotel or the Stone group hotels.

Good facilities, but severely let down by staffing and poor communication

We (family of 3) stayed here at the beginning of July. While the hotel has good facilities and plenty of potential, it fell short in several key areas, particularly for an establishment supposedly carrying a 5-star rating

Reception

We arrived just after midnight and had to wait around 20mins to be spoken to. I appreciate that there is a lower staffing level at this time but this didn't set a good tone to the start of our holiday.

On another occasion I had a query about getting some euros - there are cash machines nearby the hotel but they all charge 9.99% commission. It turns out there is no facility to exchange euros in the hotel, which is disappointing for a 5 star hotel. But when I asked if there was any other facility nearby to exchange euros without such a high commission rate I was met with only a shrug of the shoulders.  Not at all helpful.

I did have a more positive experience at reception when I was trying to sort out wristbands for the slides (see below). The person I dealt with at this time was an older gentleman (I didn't get his name) and he was very helpful.

Water Slides & Pools The pools and slides are a major positive. The main pool is large, well-configured around corners, and a consistent 1.4m deep—ideal for older kids confident in the water.

An issue, relating to other guests, is that groups quite regularly congregate at access steps. This can make it awkward to access / exit the pool unless jumping in or climbing out.

The slide setup is excellent: three racing slides, three fast slides, and three tube slides (including the Cobra). The Space Hole slide was closed during our visit.

I witnessed some arguments at the tube slides as there is a limited number of tubes. At times there is a staff member managing this, I.e. taking tubes from people who have just used them and making sure people waiting get a turn; however when staff members are not fulfilling this role (not enough staff available?) some people hog the tubes resulting in "disagreements". I get some kids might not understand sharing but grown adults should really know better.

There is a strict 1.2m height limit on all slides and a minimum age of 10 for the Cobra. This is only stated on a sign right at the slide entrance and is managed via wristband colours.  A grey band is needed to ride the height restricted slides, and orand for the age restricted (cobra).  I witnessed a significant number of children with blue bands walking back down the stairs in tears having been refused access to the slides.

Our 7-year-old son was given a blue band at check-in with no explanation as to what this meant, only to be turned away at the slides. We had to go back to reception, get him measured, and sign a liability waiver to get the grey band he needed. If your child is tall enough, sort this out on day one to avoid unnecessary disappointment.

Main Restaurant & Dining The main buffet restaurant was highly inefficient and overall the weakest part of the experience.

Staffing: The restaurant is incredibly busy, and there simply isn't enough staff in the seating area to cope. While there were physical tables available, most were left piled with dirty plates and glasses from previous guests. Finding a cleared table was a daily struggle.

Service: Ordering drinks at mealtimes was completely hit-and-miss. We frequently sat halfway through a meal before anyone took an order; on one occasion, I had to ask three separate staff members just for a glass of water.

Food Quality: The food quality is not up to a 5-star standard. It is highly repetitive, relying heavily on cheaper cuts of fatty meat, chips, nuggets, and basic stews. Sometimes steak or lamb is available but it is overcooked and hence dry / chewy.  The evening fish options were consistently bony and carried a very strong odor.   Prawns are available on one night per week, but these are generally overcooked.

On the plus side, the salad and fruit selections were fresh.

Allergens: There is a distinct lack of allergen labeling. Several dishes contained nuts that were entirely unlisted in the basic descriptions.

Logistics: The buffet environment is chaotic. Pushing, queue-cutting, and unsupervised young children running into your path make retrieving food a frustrating experience.

The daytime snack bars (Amphi bar, beach bar) offer much better quality. The menu is smaller and the hours are limited, but the fresh doner, pizzas, and Gozleme (Turkish flatbread) were excellent.

Bottled water is also readily available at all of the bars.

Other Guests There are guests of various backgrounds and nationalities at this hotel. Whilst most are fine, a number of guests were rude and fairly obnoxious, pushing into queues in the dining area and bars, barging past if you're in their way etc.  I even had one person being fairly passive aggressive (walking behind and in contact with me) as I had the audacity to enter a lift before him without letting him push his way in. This isn't the hotel's fault per se, but it does affect the overall experience.

Rooms We booked a Superior Room (the base tier) and found it very spacious for three people. The layout is good, featuring a large bathroom with a separate toilet area. The monsoon shower worked perfectly with no issues regarding water pressure or temperature.

There is a mini bar in the room that has soft drinks, water, beer etc. These are all included in the AI and are replenished daily.

The decor is looking slightly tired and could use a freshen up, but otherwise the room was sound.

Kids Club & Activities The hotel website claims to offer tiered kids clubs by age (Mini, Maxi, etc.), but Guest Relations seemed entirely unaware of the "Maxi" club when asked. The activities on offer were strictly geared toward very young children (face/stone painting).

Outside of the pools and slides, there is very little for older kids or young teens to do. Daytime activities like darts and archery are strictly 16+. They ran a pool foam party one day which was excellent, though shorter kids will struggle with the 1.4m depth.

Also note that the beach pier has a sign explicitly restricting access to ages 12 and over, so we couldn't use it.

There is an outside football pitch which is open 0700 - 2000. The activity team stops at 1700, so if you want to play football after this time and don't have your own ball then you need to hope someone who does will arrive.

Entertainment & Extras Luna Park: The fairground rides are advertised as open 15:00–17:00 and 19:00–21:30. However, during the afternoon slot, only the bumper cars and trampolines were running. The evening slot had almost everything open.  Most rides are for kids 7+, with 2 rides plus trampolines suitable for 3+.

Some of the music played, particularly during the evening session, isn't suitable for kids - Eminem, Rihanna etc. but not the clean versions.

Game Zone: The arcade downstairs is not part of the all-inclusive package. It costs €10 for 7 tokens, with most games costing 1 or 2 tokens per play.

Bars: The bars themselves are good and well-stocked, though the outdoor areas get very crowded during peak times.  Staffing at these bars is generally good.

Evening Entertainment: We didn't attend the evening entertainment, as my son wanted to watch World Cup football instead, so can't comment on the offering

Verdict The infrastructure and facilities here are good and hence the hotel has a massive amount of potential, but the operational management / staffing / communication and some other guests behaviour lets it down. Having stayed at lower-starred hotels in the Antalya region that offered vastly superior food and service for a lower price, Royal Seginus does not deliver a true 5-star experience.

Overall I would not return to this hotel based on this experience, and would look at other options in the Lara Beach area.

Nice rooms but better service

We came back yesterday from this hotel. We moved there from Royal Holiday Palace after two days. Rooms are very nice, modern, cleaned, family room was with two bedrooms and big bathroom. I realle appreciate that in the second bedroom was a balcony acces on the key, so I knew, that my children cannot go there alone. Room service was average. But we didnt miss anything there. Lunapark and aquapark were allright, Cobra tobogan was top. Miniclub was OK. Food was good, but nothing special. Still the same food, service was little bit lazy. When you wanted to come later than was opening, you had to catch somebody to clean your table and bring you drinks. What I missed was a service by the pool, nobody came to us in this 5 days to ask us if we want something to drink. And queues at the pool bar were crazy. Pools were nice and small pool for children and area with splashing water was perfect. Hotel is not at the beach, but for all the day there were two shuttle buses and when you walked, it was nice three minute walk through nice green way full od flowers. So I didnt mind, it was nice.

We all had a great experience in general

Everything was great and the team at night shows were amazing but live music shows could get a little boring some night but other than that everything else was pretty good and to be honest the food quality could be better for a great hotel like this.
