Disappointing stay at this corner-l cutting “5 star” resort, particularly with children
Mosquitoes were a major issue, with multiple bites despite precautions. Guests should bring DEET, as the resort’s measures were insufficient. We've never experienced issues with mosquitoes in rooms in Turkey before.
Our room was not cleaned properly, and the “villa” was much smaller than expected.
Most seriously, it took four interactions with Guest Relations over two days to address a basic safe reset issue. We carried our passports and valuables with us because we did not feel comfortable leaving them in the room. This should never happen.
The food and all inclusive offering were also disappointing, with limited options such as ice lollies not being available throughout the day. We often felt guests were treated as opportunities for extra charges rather than all iinclusive customers. Taxis in Antalya were similarly frustrating, with inflated prices and no meters.
The kids’ club staff were excellent and a highlight of our stay.
Overall, despite some good facilities and staff, the mosquitoes, cleanliness, unresolved safe issue, food quality and constant extra charges meant this did not feel like a genuine 5 star experience. We would not return.
⭐️⭐️ 2/5 – Very disappointing for an all-inclusive resort
We stayed at Selectum Noa Belek for 7 nights and unfortunately, our overall experience was very disappointing. We booked this holiday expecting a relaxing all-inclusive break at a good-quality resort, but there were repeated issues throughout our stay which significantly affected our enjoyment.
Sun loungers were a major issue. There simply weren’t enough for the number of guests, and finding one was difficult on a daily basis. This wasn’t just an occasional problem. We also found there wasn’t enough proper seating around the evening entertainment, so we regularly ended up sitting on sun loungers to watch the shows.
The food was one of our biggest disappointments. It was extremely repetitive and felt like essentially the same options were being served every day, with very little variety. After a few days, we were no longer looking forward to meals.
The main buffet was also extremely busy, crowded and loud. Tables were regularly left uncleared, so finding somewhere clean to sit could be difficult. We often had to find our own cutlery and collect bottles of water ourselves. For an all-inclusive holiday, we expected meals to be a much more enjoyable and relaxed experience.
The drinks service was also poor. Whenever we wanted drinks from the bar, we regularly faced queues of around 15 minutes. This happened repeatedly throughout our stay, and we were also given the wrong drinks several times.
The snack bar was particularly disappointing. We ordered chicken nuggets which arrived cold and had to be sent back, while the pizza had run out when we wanted it. Our drinks took so long to arrive that they arrived as we were leaving the snack bar. After this, we chose not to return to that snack bar for the remainder of our holiday.
The evening entertainment wasn’t what we expected either. There was very little information about what was taking place each evening and the entertainment itself was quite repetitive, mainly consisting of singers and DJs. There was very little variety during our stay. The flashing and strobe-style lighting was also extremely intense at times and made watching the entertainment uncomfortable.
Housekeeping was inconsistent. For two days, dirty towels were folded rather than replaced, mugs were simply rinsed rather than properly replaced/cleaned, and toilet roll wasn’t replenished. We actually had to find toilet roll ourselves during the night. The room was only properly sorted after we complained.
Communication with some members of staff was also difficult, and we sometimes had to use Google Translate for basic requests. We appreciate that English isn’t everyone’s first language, but better communication would have made things considerably easier.
We also had an uncomfortable experience shortly after arriving. We tipped the member of staff who took us to our room on the golf cart, only for him to return shortly afterwards and ask for more money because the amount we’d given him was only a small amount in his currency. We felt quite awkward being put in that position.
Our 3am checkout was also disappointing. Reception staff were quite dismissive and there was very little assistance or explanation during the process. When our transfer arrived, we told reception and were told “one minute”. When we asked if everything was sorted, we were simply told “bye”. It felt very abrupt and was not the standard of customer service we expected.
We also paid £170 through the hotel for a private “Meet the Turtle” boat trip. We completely understand that wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed, but the experience itself was disappointing. Around half of the one-hour trip was spent travelling to the area, the water had virtually no visibility and there was a very strong current. We received very little guidance from the driver about where to swim or how to find the turtles. When we asked for guidance, we were simply told that he didn’t know. While we were swimming around the area, the driver was using his phone rather than actively assisting us. We saw no turtles or dolphins and didn’t feel the experience represented good value for £170.
We appreciate that no hotel is perfect and that some things are outside of the hotel’s control. However, the problem for us was the number of issues and how frequently they occurred. These weren’t one-off inconveniences; there were repeated problems with food, drinks service, sun loungers, entertainment, housekeeping and general service throughout our week.
We have stayed at all-inclusive resorts before and understand that busy periods and occasional problems can happen. However, for the price we paid, we expected a much higher standard and a far more relaxing holiday.
Unfortunately, based on our experience, we would not return to Selectum Noa Belek and would not recommend it to others looking for a relaxing, good-quality all-inclusive holiday.
Absolutely terrible experience. The hotel was awful from start to finish. The service was disappointing, the cleanliness was poor, and the overall quality was nowhere near what was advertised.Definitely not worth the money, and I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. I regret choosing this place and would never stay here again.
