Yalihan Una

Just back from a 10-night stay at Yalihan Una, and unfortunately we were largely disappointed, especially after reading so many positive reviews. We arrived at 19:30 to be told our room wasn’t ready. Reception simply shrugged, laughed and said “these things happen.” We were told to stay in another room for one night and that our correct room would be ready tomorrow. The room they suggested we stayed in was dirty with a wet floor and a mirror hanging off the wall (see pictures).The next morning, we were laughed at again and told the room we had been given was actually ours — despite it having 3 single beds and a partial sea view, rather than the double sea view room we had paid for. After back-and-forth, we eventually got the correct room, with no real apology. Unfortunately, things didn’t improve. The food was lukewarm at best, and our visit to the Divian Restaurant was even worse, with a table of four next to us spitting out and sending dishes back. Despite the hotel stating that staff speak English, around 95% of staff didn’t, and we were frequently laughed at or rudely dismissed when communication was difficult. On our final day, we paid for a day pass at their sister hotel and were told we could stay until 11pm. We returned to Una at 5pm, only to be woken at 23:15 by reception demanding our wristbands back. We explained that we had removed and binned them hours earlier and had been back at Una since 5pm. Despite this, they continued demanding them, and five minutes later a staff member came to our room and demanded to see our wrists. We made a formal complaint to the guest relations manager the following morning and asked for some form of refund for the incorrect room and the poor service throughout our stay. The manager’s solution? A 3-hour late checkout. When we pushed the matter further, we were simply ignored. We also met our representative on day 2, He told us how much the hotel cares about its reviews and claimed that bad reviews are sometimes persuaded or bribed to be removed. This would certainly explain why the reviews are so overwhelmingly positive compared with our experience. Please don’t make the same mistake we did and rely solely on the positive reviews. Our experience was extremely disappointing, and we would never return.

Wonderful hotel right at the beach. Great kind professional staff. Excellent food. Most guests ate from Germany and Scandinavia.
