Grand Kaptan

So we arrive and the staff at the hotel were attentive and smiley on the reception who helped us with another room so that was great. Two gentlemen and a lovely women who I think runs the reception area. Get to the rooms and rooms are ok but a bit dated and my room had a shower curtain which I thought for a 5 star hotel was a bit of a downgrade, the air con is ok and was this small vent on the wall which wasn’t fully functional and especially in the heat it was needed. WiFi isn’t free in the rooms so had to purchase that at the lobby. I wouldn’t class this as a 5 star hotel more like a 3 star. The bag boys were lovely and always happy to help you.

The staff aren’t very helpful unless you tip them and just walk straight past you like you aren’t there. I will give a massive shoutout to this one lady waiter at the pool bar who unfortunately didn’t catch her name but she was lovely and always smiley and another young lady waiter who was also great. Out of all the staff, three waiters stood out for us but the rest couldn’t care less. We went to the beach a few times and the staff at the beach bar are miserable and don’t care. The umbrellas are useless. There is plenty of sun loungers at the pool and the beach so we never had to scramble for one or leave our towels on one so that’s a plus.

The food is nice just like your bog standard all inclusive range. A lot to choose from but if you are a meat eater I wouldn’t bother as it was very dry. Loads of tables and an outside area which was lovely but yet again staff are standing around looking like they don’t want to be there.

Entertainment team are absolutely lovely and always interact with you and trying to get you involved with the activities. Big shout out to Momo he was brilliant and the blonde lady who called me “strawberry”.

The spa is an absolute must!! The gentleman was lovely who was on the front desk outside the spa and the ladies who did our massages were amazing. We had 3 sessions booked straight after we had a Turkish bath and couldn’t rate them more. Nisa and Rida you were brilliant and really helped us with our aches and pains. The spa made our holiday. 10/10 experience with them.

Overall we won’t be returning. Very overpriced hotel. Not a 5 star hotel!!

The hotel is okay overall, but there are several things that pull it down. The rooms were fine and the rest of the hotel was also acceptable. The food was a bit above average, but with far too many repetitions – it quickly becomes monotonous. The drink selection was unfortunately disappointing. There were only 4 cocktails, all poorly made, served with lukewarm soda, almost no ice, and in warm glasses. The pool in the aquapark was the biggest issue – the water was almost milky in colour and looked so dirty that we didn’t feel like swimming there. The staff generally seemed a bit grumpy and disengaged (maybe they’re just very serious). The animation team, on the other hand, was really nice and friendly – except for the manager, who came across as arrogant, clearly favoured Turkish guests, and wasn’t very kind to his own staff. Another manager even cut in front of me in the queue and acted like he was much more important than the guests. We didn’t have a bad holiday, but the standard isn’t high enough for the price. If I ran the hotel, I would get out of the office a bit more and get a grip on the basics – cleanliness, service, and quality in both food and drinks.
