We’ve just returned from an 11-night stay at Tamaimo, and overall we thoroughly enjoyed our holiday. We arrived late at night and were shown to our room by a member of staff. We had a single-balcony apartment (Room 209) overlooking the big pool. The apartment was nice and spacious, with one bedroom, a sofa bed in the living room and a fridge. Everything appeared clean on first inspection. The following day, however, we noticed a damp patch on the living room wall, with some plaster starting to fall away. We reported it to reception and were told someone would take a look. To our knowledge, nobody came, but it didn't really bother us, so we just got on with enjoying our holiday. It did progressively get worse, and we mentioned it again later in the stay. We were happy with the room itself and didn't want to move. We did see a few cockroaches in the apartment, but again, they didn't bother us too much as they are something you can expect in Tenerife. We simply put a bin over them and disposed of them. There was also a little noise from the Sunset Bar opposite our room, but nothing that a pair of earplugs couldn't sort out. We were AI (all-inclusive). The snacks at the pool bar were the usual burgers, chips, hot dogs etc. We didn't find the main restaurant food particularly to our taste, so we did eat out a few evenings. Definitely recommend booking the onsite Italian buffet restaurant, much quieter with no queues. We highly recommend Sorriso Italian, which had amazing views! There are plenty of restaurants in the area, so you’re certainly not short of choice. The beach is around a 10-minute walk away, and it’s another 10 minutes or so along to Los Gigantes. Both are beautiful walks with amazing scenery, although be warned — the area is very hilly! For the pool bar, we took our own plastic pint cups rather than using the token system, which I'm glad we did as the queues could be quite long. Drinks included San Miguel, cocktails, wine and spirits, and we found them all perfectly fine. All the staff were lovely, especially the animation team. We didn't stay for the evening shows as we preferred to head out for a walk and have a drink elsewhere. There are some lovely bars nearby, including B Yard, which has multiple pool tables, Route 66 and Terrace Merale. There are also plenty more bars a little further along, so there’s lots of choice. The pool areas were clean and tidy, with plenty of activities going on. Balls and rubber rings were allowed in the pools, which was great. The only downside was the usual sunbed situation, with people reserving loungers from around 6:30am! That said, there were still plenty of spare loungers if you could find somewhere to put them. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely return to the area. Tamaimo is in a stunning location, and there is so much beautiful scenery to enjoy. A couple of useful travel points: Tenerife Airport was very quick and straightforward, with no issues at all with the new EES system. Our transfer took exactly one hour. Overall, we had a great holiday and would happily return to the area.

Worst hotel we’ve ever stayed. We lasted 3 days as gave TUI and the hotel the opportunity to fix the issues however moved today at our own expense. Main issues - cockroaches - we were moved and both rooms had large cockroaches in bathroom and shower. Disgusting! Sofa in the room was riddled with stains and marks. The air con did not work and made the loudest sound to the point I couldn’t sleep. The balcony door didn’t lock either and all these issues left us feeling unsafe and couldn’t relax. The food is another story. The breakfast is actually fine and pleasantly surprised. The rest is just tasteless slop. Constantly pork, chicken legs and that’s about it. The hotel itself is tired and grubby with everyone jammed in like sardines at meals and evening entertainment. Not a place to come and relax instead it’s Busy and reminds me of a butlins complex with noise 247. As the rep said “it’s a basic 3 star” I’d agree with the basic and rate it more a 2 star. We’ve stayed at many a TUI Suneo in Spain and this brings the brand name down. Attitude of reception staff is appalling. Excuse for cockroaches is “it’s the coast”. Never in my life have I experienced a cockroach run across my bed. Having spoken to other people it’s common here and the 5th floor and ground floor having the most issues. Surely if the hotel know there’s a problem then regular maintenance and a thorough permanent solution should be actioned instead of just spraying a shop bought spray. This is a big and busy hotel and I wouldn’t recommend for those seeking chill time or quiet time and we were constantly smoked and vaped over whilst sunbathing. The pool was closed for a full day as someone was sick. The cleanliness overall was a concern for us. Sadly this hotel has deep rooted issues and the hotel are not interested in permanent solutions instead just fill it full and make money. Our requests to change room were rejected due to being at capacity. Overall a very disappointing experience from TUI. I think this hotel needs removing from their portfolio. Positives - entertainment same standard as usual TUI suneo. Tv in room was brand new with Netflix etc and full UK channels. Breakfast was edible. Resort is small and extremely hilly. Not good in the heat but basic bars and supermarket is good. Please don’t waste your hard earned cash on this hotel. I didn’t sleep for 2 days and requested from TUI to be flown home.
