Atlantic Mirage Suites and Spa

Just returned from this hotel after 2 week stay. It's the third time we have stayed here.The rooms are very spacious all with great ocean views. The staff at the hotel are nice and friendly helpful, especially Dennis who works there, with a good sense of humour. Elsa,Elizabeth and Manuel who work in the restaurant are nice also. Relaxed atmosphere around the pool .Location is out of the centre of the town on a cliff but you can walk down the steps or take a taxi which would only cost you 6 euros each way. You can stay bed & breakfast or like we did half board, good choice of food for breakfast and a buffet main meal at night, 18.30 - 21.30, you can always find something you like!! Need to get vinegar in the restaurant!! Wife likes it on her beetroot!! Will be back next year!!

I am writing this review from the perspective of a returning guest who visited this hotel in its first year after opening and was highly satisfied back then with a room on a high floor. Unfortunately, my recent stay was a completely different experience due to a very unfortunate room assignment on the ground floor.

Upon check-in, I informed the staff that I suffer from severe asthma and requested a high-floor room. I was told the hotel had full occupancy. When I inquired further, I was offered an upgrade to the top floor for an additional fee, which I accepted. However, a room was not available immediately. It meant that after 3 days of our stay, we would have to pack all our bags, leave the room by 12:00, and wait until 16:00 for the new one. This arrangement would completely ruin one full day of our vacation, forcing us to leave all our personal and valuable belongings in a luggage room instead of exploring the island. To survive the rest of our holiday, I had to decline and adapt: I stopped using the AC, kept the balcony closed at all times, and entered the room holding my breath to avoid the smell.

The ground-floor room was located in a deep, recessed alcove shared with another room, just meters away from the main entrance where smokers gather. Placing a designated smoking area right by the only entrance to the hotel is a major flaw, as guests have no choice but to walk through a cloud of smoke. Due to the lack of ventilation in the alcove, the smoke stagnated there. The room's air conditioning system likely drew air directly from this smoky recess, meaning that even with the windows shut, we could smell cigarettes inside. Furthermore, the hotel allows smoking on private balconies, which means smoke was coming from neighboring balconies as well. This is a stark contrast to hotels like Dunas in Gran Canaria, which truly enforce a "smoke-free" concept by keeping balconies free of ashtrays and placing smoking areas far away from main walkways. On a positive note, traditional smoking is efficiently restricted around the pools by the staff, though electronic cigarettes and vapes were still quite common and noticeable.

When I tried to explain the smoke issue on day one, the reception argued that because I was tired from the journey, I was simply unable to see the hotel’s merits. Having been to this hotel before, I knew the property well, making such comments uncalled for.

The most difficult part of the stay was the housekeeping. One day, the cleaning lady sprayed a strong chemical pesticide (like RAID) directly around my headboard. As an asthmatic, I do not use any harsh chemicals at home—no Cif, no Domestos—as they trigger my symptoms; I only use eco-friendly or homemade products to keep my condition under control. Such spraying should never happen without consulting guests, and according to safety guidelines for products like RAID, the area should be thoroughly ventilated for at least 4 hours without people inside. The housekeeping finished just before our return, leaving me unknowingly exposed to these strong fumes, which irritated my respiratory system and remained highly noticeable for the next 3 days. Fortunately, my boyfriend was able to swap sides of the bed with me, as the smell wasn’t present near his head. To make things worse, the maid left the balcony door wide open after cleaning, which would have left our room unsecured had we gone on our planned 2-day excursion to La Gomera with an overnight stay elsewhere.

On a very bright note, the absolute highlight of the hotel was a wonderful, always smiling gentleman from the staff (with a slightly larger belly). He was truly fantastic, brought so much positive energy to the property, and definitely deserves a well-earned raise!

This is a lovely hotel. Stayed for 6 nights with my daughter. We like to have a Mother Daughter week away to relax and take time out from busy lives. This hotel ticked that box. It's adult only which was what we wanted. Lots of couples but also a few mother and daughters and friends having a get together.
The staff and friendly and hardworking, from the housekeeper to bar staff and waiters. The facilities are great. My daughter likes to keep fit so we used the gym most days. The view was amazing. The pool was never busy and there was always sunbeds free so you didnt feel like you had to rush to get a bed. Most days we used the pool, however on a couple of occasions we enjoyed the sunbeds on the roof terrace. This was lovely and has some hot tubs with views to die for. The food at the hotel was excellent. Lots of choice and well presented. Again, it was a nice relaxed atmosphere without the feeling of being rushed or queuing for food etc. We had a sea view room which had stunning views out onto the ocean. I will miss these views. Good fridge in the room so we could go to the local supermarket to stock up on a few essentials. Was probably a comfortable 10 minute walk. All in all, we would highly recommend this hotel and would certainly consider returning.
