This sublime beach hotel enjoys a stunning location on the vibrant island of Tenerife. The airport is just about 15 to 20 minute-drive away. The hotel is situated just across the promenade from a pristine sandy beach. Guests will find a selection of shops, bars and restaurants nearby, while the Magma Convention Centre is located at a walking distance. The hotel is the ideal choice for thrill and pleasure seekers alike, with an abundance of leisure and recreational facilities for guests to enjoy. Business guests are able to host meetings, conferences and other private events in the property. The rooms are cheerfully decorated in a light-hearted style, creating a calming ambience in which to relax and unwind in comfort at the end of the day.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
I went with my 4 years old son and my mum for 8 days at the end of August. We went with Jet2, so transfer from the airport dropped us on. The reception staff - (I think the manager) helped out as one person was being served, so he tried avoid our wait… we have been told that the room is not ready and we have been offered to leave suitcase in there till 2pm. It was around 11.30, so we have decided to check the pool. Pool was very full - no sunbeds available, so we decided to check the beach which was literally across the road - so close!! we also went to Mcdonald’s for lunch (next to the hotel) as we had inly half board anyway.
At 2pm , we got a room keys and went to our accommodation. We have been surprised - the room looked absolutely fabulous, very nice and stylish simple look and bathroom as well (pictured). After a bit of unpacking and wondering around, we went to dinner . The dining room matched style of the hotel (lobby, rooms etc) and was also very stylish, clean and everything looked as new. Staff friendly, even when really busy - I mean VERY busy. and OMG … the food was exceptional. We have been in so many countries and hotels before and we agreed that this hotel had the best food! Every day it was different choice and part was “based” on different country as well as others dishes … So, we have been very pleased with the hotel.
We went to different beaches in area (and by local bus). We could not use the popular scooters as we had my son with us, otherwise we would be riding on it too as they have been everywhere. There were local sightseeing train, which we did not used but heard it is good. There is plenty local stores with various stuff as well as small Spar (5mins walk) to get fresh baguettes, cheese and ham …
The hotel gardens are all tidy and very nice, we could not visit the over 18 pool (as had my little one with us anyway).
Overall we have been very happy, we just been a bit annoyed by tourists “reserving” their pool spots by putting their towels on sunbeds (but i guess is everywhere like that, but hotel should do something about it). Also, the entertaining team was always starting late and not interacting with guests as we had in other hotels. The evening entertainment was pretty much all the same - singing 🙄.
The noise was until late evenings and some days, noise from other clubs was disturbing our sleep, so if you are very light sleeper- you might don’t like it …
we would definitely come again to this hotel!!!
Good location, where do I start ? Came here for family holiday for 11 nights , half board , start with the restaurant standards are food very poor , not much choice same every day hot food was cold not any effort put in to pleasing customers, no pizza either, serving staff are miserable and rude , table mats worn and smell , cobweb on ceiling in corner , I had a small piece of glass in my food which I discovered while eating Rooms basic , need an uplift , mould on sealant on glass shower partition, on the 6th day very bad smell of sewage in bathroom , the toilet pedestal was dirty when we arrived with bits of sick still on wall near toilet , balcony door is dirty with marks all over it , air con is a vent , main door to room has a gap a bottom you can hear doors slamming, people talking and shouting and running up and down corridor Pool area , always busy no sun lounge as people are saving them with towels, plus the swimming pool smells , My two sons had there room card checked just gone 12 , as myself and daughter came in half an hour after we didn’t have ours checked, so the night staff behind the reception are stereotyping my sons which made my sons feel uncomfortable, shame on you troya hotel
This hotel was so good. Reception staff were so friendly, helpful and welcoming. Breakfast was good, always something to have to start the day. I only had dinner a couple of times, went out to eat as a buffet dinner isn't my thing. Prefer the many lovely restaurants around. Didn't use the main pool as there is the most beautiful adults only infinity pool at the back . I did have lunch there a few times which was lovely as was the staff. Beach is just across the road which meant I could just nip over when I felt like it for a swim in the sea. Room had a lovely view and the shower was great. 2 lovely shops in the hotel which sell everything you could need. Location for me was perfect. Yes its next to Veronicas but i usually stay around that area so didn't bother me as i prefer a busy area. And they also make gorgeous Baraquetos 😋 Will definitely be going back to this hotel.
Lets start with the fact this place is nowhere near 4 star standards! Broken light fixtures and fittings exposed wires for "mood lighting" incredibly slow draining plumbing building work taking place in JULY! (Not off/quiet season). I could go on and on this is just not at all a 4 star hotel ive been to premier inn that were nicer!
The food its typical all-inclusive multi nationality type offering breakfast being especially poor i know food is down to personal preference but it really is pretty bog standard. Half board may be better for people who dont drink alot.
The rooms ive touched on being very run down yet still trying to be "modern" hair dryer in the bathroom bit poor ladies bring your own. Unless your in a "family room" or "panoramic room" your gonna be VERY close quarters sleeping. The nosie from the bars close by isn't actually that bad they've done a good job of insulating the rooms that I will say and the AC does the job.....(just) and for god sake make sure your door is actually shut and locked as the catches are at best crap. The door can appear closed but it not always on the catch and locked meaning a qucik gentle push and anyone can be in when your out. The shower however is absolutely fantastic i do rate a room by its shower and the room i was in had a brilliant mixer type shower with very good pressure (one of the few redeeming factors of this hotel).
The pool area two large pools one warmer than the other the colder pool being the rectangle shaped one but still acceptable temperature its a fairly clean area and the pools seem to get cleaned by dedicated staff every other day. There are lifeguards on duty from about 11 but if theres anything interesting happening poolside you better be sure they wont be watching the pool.
Staff try their best some try harder than others and some are absolutely useless.
If your going to be coming here expecting 4 stars you'll be majorly disappointed think of it as 3 stars at best and you'll be fine.
I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone under any circumstances at all at any price point I just wouldn't.
Sorry but there's so much that needs fixing/improving.
Dates: 1 Week in July (All-Inclusive) | Party: Family of 4 (Kids aged 5 & 11) | Room: Junior Suite with Spa Access
I was so dubious about booking this hotel and checked the reviews constantly, debating several times whether to switch. I am SO glad we didn’t.
While I’d rate it closer to a 3-star plus rather than a true 4-star, we had the most amazing time and none of us wanted to leave!
Check-In & First Impressions We arrived around 11:00 AM, and to our delight, our room was ready early (check-in is usually 2:00 PM). The reception staff were friendly and helpful, directing us to scan a QR code for information on hotel facilities and the All-Inclusive package.
The Room & Balcony We were blown away by our Junior Suite—it was spotlessly clean with nice, modern decor. The highlight was a humongous sea-view balcony equipped with two sun loungers, a sofa, and a daybed. It was the biggest balcony I’ve ever seen with tons of space.
A note on noise: Our room overlooked the Veronica's strip, which had made us nervous after reading other reviews. While you can hear a slight thumping noise at night, the balcony doors do a fantastic job of blocking out sound, and it didn't keep any of us awake.
Pool & Facilities
Sunbeds: Finding sunbeds was never an issue at any time of day, even with the hotel at 98% capacity! At 1:00 PM on our first day, we easily found three together.
Pools & Staff: Great size pools with daily activities. The entertainment staff work tirelessly to keep everyone happy.
Food & Drinks
The Restaurant: There’s no greeter, so you just seat yourself (we always found a table easily). Waitstaff were quick to take drinks orders—contrary to other reviews, we were easily able to order second drinks during meals without any issues.
Food Variety: There was plenty of choice and everything was surprisingly delicious, even if some dishes didn't look high-end at first glance. They have two live cooking stations (one for meats like steak, lamb, and chicken; one for seafood like prawns, cod, and tuna).
For the Kids: Our kids stuck strictly to a "beige diet" (chips, spaghetti, chicken nuggets), but they were completely happy!
Pool Bar: This was the only slight letdown. Service was quite slow (20+ minute wait at times). The cocktails are pre-mixed and sweet (you won't get drunk on them, but they’re pleasant), and the wine at dinner was lovely.
Entertainment
Kids' Disco: A massive hit with our 5-year-old, who loved dancing and making friends.
Evening Shows: A bit hit-or-miss depending on the night, but the atmosphere was generally great and the kids really enjoyed themselves—which was what mattered most to us.
Location & Safety
Safety: We saw no issues with crime, pickpockets, or drugs. The only thing we noticed walking near Veronica's in the morning was a few discarded gas canisters/balloons from the night before.
Troya Beach: Lovely beach nearby with plenty of space. Top tip: Bring your shoes! The sand gets scorching hot on the walk down from the boardwalk. The local beach sellers leave you alone if you just politely say no straight away.
Final Verdict We had a fantastic week, loved every minute, and would absolutely recommend this hotel to families. Don't let the negative reviews scare you off!
