La Siesta Tenerife

Really good hotel. Staff were very good. Went all inclusive and I thought the food was pretty good. Always plenty of choice. The thing that let the hotel down was you've guessed it. Sunbeds! Most of the sunbeds were locked up apart from a few and I think some people must have been getting up at 6am to put their towels down. The rest of the sunbeds were randomly unlocked at anytime between 08.30-10.00. so you had lots of people just sat about waiting for them to be unlocked. Once they were unlocked then you had to get one then as they would all be gone. There were simply not enough sunbeds for the amount of people. I hate giving only two stars because everything else is great but I was here for 17 days and the ability to get a sunbed is such a massive part of the holiday. There needs to be a rethink by the management about them. Tell everyone exactly when the sunbeds will be unlocked not some random time.

We’ve just returned from our first ever trip to Tenerife after a week and honestly, we couldn’t fault it.

As family of 4 (one teenager and a 7 year old) we stayed half board, which gave us the flexibility to choose either lunch or dinner each day. The food was exactly what you’d expect from this type of resort, in my opinion, with plenty of choice. I have a very picky 7-year-old, and even she was happy every day with options like pasta, chicken nuggets, grilled chicken (available at lunch), rice and, of course, the ice creams, which were a huge hit! The only extra we paid for was drinks at lunch. We didn’t feel it was too repetitive as we ate out every night as there’s soo many restaurants nearby to try.

The hotel is in a brilliant central location, so we spent quite a few evenings out exploring Playa de las Américas or nearby Costa Adeje. There was evening entertainment each night.

The pool area was great. During the first few days it was easy enough to get a sunbed, but by the middle of the week people were out reserving them from around 6:30–7:00am, especially those wanting umbrellas/table. Some beds aren’t unlocked until around 8:30am. We actually ended up using the bali beds most days (no extra charge), and they were fantastic. Further away from pool for those with small kids though.

There are plenty of things to keep children entertained too, including a mini soft play, arcade, small playground and pool table. There isn’t a kids’ club, but there were activities running throughout the day such as golf, archery, crafts and a mini disco in the evenings.

There are three pools: a large main pool with a shallow end where balls, ring floats were generally allowed, although the rules on floats seemed to depend on which lifeguard was on duty. There’s also a smaller pool with no shallow end and a splash pool for younger children. The poolside could be a little slippery in places, but staff were regularly cleaning it throughout the day. We took our flip flops down and left them at the side of the pool. The in-house photographers are always out trying to get family photos by the pool for you to later purchase if you wish.

The hotel overall was very clean. Our room was cleaned every day, and the bedding was changed several times during our stay. The carpets in the corridors could perhaps do with a refresh, but that’s only a very minor point and certainly didn’t affect our holiday.

All of the staff we encountered were friendly, welcoming and helpful, and we never had to wait long for service. Even at busy meal times, there were minimal queues for the self-service buffet.

My only small negative was that our room overlooked the outdoor entertainment stage, so it was quite noisy until around midnight. That said, my youngest absolutely loved it as she had the best view to watch it.

Overall, we had a fantastic first holiday in Tenerife and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Alexandre Hotel La Siesta. We’d happily stay here again.
