We stayed at Bahia Principe Fantasia Tenerife in May as a family of four and had a really enjoyable week. Our room was excellent, very spacious for a family, with a lovely balcony overlooking the pools. The food was good throughout the holiday. Nothing particularly gourmet, but there was plenty of choice and everything was more than adequate. The beer on tap was good, the wine was decent, and the snack bar serving burgers and hot dogs was a hit with all of us, although it could get quite busy at peak times.
One of the biggest positives was the staff. Every member of staff we came across was incredibly friendly and genuinely couldn't do enough to help.
The children's splash pools were always very busy, and there were quite a few parents who didn't seem to be keeping much of an eye on their children, making that area a little noisy and hectic. Fortunately, our two young boys actually preferred the quieter pools further up the resort, which suited us much better.
The evening entertainment was a bit mixed. There was one really good live band, and the singers were enjoyable enough. The castle illuminations were lovely and our boys enjoyed watching them, although once you've seen them a couple of times the novelty wears off. We also watched a couple of the theatre shows. The dancers were very talented and the productions were entertaining for the children, although that style of entertainment isn't really our thing.
One thing I'd definitely recommend is taking a walk along the seafront outside the hotel. It's a lovely promenade and well worth exploring. We also ate out locally on our final evening and had a fantastic meal.
There isn't a huge amount to do in the immediate surrounding area, but for a week's family holiday this hotel has everything you need. We'd happily recommend Bahia Principe Fantasia Tenerife to families with young children looking for a relaxing, easy holiday.
Honest review: Third time here over a 6 year period.
Pros: great staff. Honestly, superb! Issues previously but none of that now. Great kids entertainment Superb kids/family hotel Good shows Good food. Slightly repetitive but they really try to give variety. Catering for an enormous amount of people so they are doing a great job. Good gym and spa
Cons: Not a great location outside of the hotel. You will need to take a taxi to experience some life or shops etc… Slippery around the pools. Incredibly dangerous. Warning signs everywhere. Shuffle slowly and no issues Seriously windy place. Absolutely every single day on every holiday we have had here, it’s is very windy. Can’t change Mother Nature but it’s worth people knowing this. Expect proper wind around the pool and hotel all day everyday
I can’t rate this wonderful place high enough. It was spotlessly clean, rooms perfect and the food and entertainment fabulous. The pools were ideallic. My 4 year old granddaughter swam for the first time without aids. Our stay was absolutely perfect apart from a very rude assistant in the shop in the hotel lobby. She made my granddaughter cry. If I ran the hotel she would be dismissed instantly. All other staff were wonderful and extremely friendly
A Wonderful Stay at Bahia Principe Fantasia Tenerife
Before travelling, I had read quite a few negative reviews about Bahia Principe Fantasia Tenerife and, to be honest, I was beginning to worry that I had made the wrong choice. However, after staying here with my husband and our 16-year-old son, I can honestly say that I was thoroughly impressed with the hotel and our whole experience.
We stayed in a Family Master Suite, which was perfect for us. The room was spacious, exceptionally clean and very comfortable. In fact, the cleanliness throughout the entire hotel was excellent, with all areas being kept beautifully clean.
The buffet restaurant offered good-quality food with plenty of choice, so there was always something for everyone. We also ate at all three à la carte restaurants, and we were very impressed with every one of them. The staff throughout the hotel were friendly and helpful, which made our stay even more enjoyable.
One of the things I particularly loved was the convenience of the water stations on every floor of the hotel. The drink stations around the pool areas were also fantastic, with plenty of choice and very easy access throughout the day.
Although we didn’t book any of the shows, we still found the nightly entertainment enjoyable. There were also so many activities available for children of all ages, including older teenagers, which was great for our 16-year-old son.
The hotel is located in a quieter area compared with some other resorts, but personally, I loved this. It was lovely being able to take walks along the coastline and enjoy the more peaceful surroundings.
Overall, we had a fantastic holiday and I would absolutely return. I’m so glad I didn’t let the negative reviews put me off, as our experience was completely different. Bahia Principe Fantasia Tenerife exceeded our expectations, and I would happily recommend it to families looking for a clean, spacious and enjoyable holiday resort with plenty to do for all ages.
I’ve never felt compelled to write many TripAdvisor reviews before, but this hotel genuinely deserves to be recommended to other families. It’s difficult to find fault. The location is fairly quiet with just a couple of nearby shops, but taxis are easy to get and we rented bikes from across the street which made exploring simple.
The entertainment is on another level. The shows are genuinely theatre‑quality, with impressive special effects, props, and a really talented team. The all‑inclusive buffet can get a bit repetitive after a while, but the standard of the food itself is very high, and I think most people eventually tire of any buffet anyway. The restaurants are excellent, with beautiful interiors. The steakhouse menu was fine, but I personally preferred the Asian restaurant, though that’s just down to taste.
The variety of pools, slides, and activities for children is brilliant. It suited our three‑year‑old and seven‑year‑old perfectly. The slides weren’t quite as daring as my seven‑year‑old would have liked, but he still had the best time. We never had one single problem getting sun-loungers despite never going down to the pool until around 11am and the kids clubs were extremely safety conscious and seemed to genuinely truly love working with the children.
The cocktails and coffees at the main bar were exceptional, and while the other bars were good too, the drinks at the reception bar were always made with a little extra flair.
The hotel has clearly thought of everything to make the holiday feel easy and enjoyable. They even provide mosquito repellent for guests, which is such a thoughtful touch for anyone who usually gets bitten.
The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, and the speed at which they respond to anything - a spilled drink, a remote that isn’t working, topping up bathroom products - is honestly remarkable and the beds were incredibly comfortable too. It might be one of the first times I’ve not missed the comfort of my own bed at home.
Highly recommend, it won’t disappoint!
