Not a 5 star hotel
Stayed here a few years ago and thought must try again , just had a week at the Gran Costa Adeje and in my option it’s not what is was even after the refurb. Good points rooms are very good , food is good and fresh. Pool areas can get a little busy but it is what it is. Now the poor bits and no way a 5 star hotel . Waiter service at night is a comedy of errors with drinks arriving eventually and there was only 2 of the waiters who had a good service level. One evening I had the waiter shout at me WAIT, if I was being loud or pushy then I would expect a stern telling to wait but when your polite and understand there not got it right I thought was very rude and so unprofessional in my option and I’m a straight forward person. Over the week all staff looked like they was all training or on some kind of work experience which again I understand that everyone has to be trained up but when it’s so unorganised and a mess it doesn’t come across and says we are a 5 star hotel. Hope above doesn’t sound petty but my experience over this week at a 5 start hotel wasn’t what i expected. Overall Hotel rooms , food and first impressions are very good , food service is good but night service is s shambles and the entertainment is not the best some nights very poor, entertainment team also not the best in my opinion. I have stayed at better 4 start hotels.

Beautiful hotel
The hotel was very beautiful and we enjoyed our stay here. We were bed and breakfast so can’t comment on the lunch and dinner offerings, but the breakfast was good, and there was a wide variety of food available. The rooms were lovely and big, and the beds were very comfortable. They also smelt amazing. There was plenty of availability of sun beds around the pool, but this may be to do with the time of year we went. We don’t have kids, but the kids clubs and children’s pools seemed very good.
It is in a good location, with The Duke Shops next door, with plenty of restaurants there. Plaza del Duque is a luxury shopping centre that is a few hundred metres away but it is down a fairly steep hill, so bear in mind for walking back. The same for walking down to the sea. It’s not far but walking back will be a challenge. We did not watch any of the shows, but seemed like generic hotel offerings.
A few negative points. The pools are advertised as heated, but they are definitely not heated. There isn’t a lot of information about how things work around the hotel, so there was a bit of figuring it out as we went. You get given a card for your towels by the pool, which you give to the lifeguard in exchange for the towels. That card stays there for your stay, and you can just get new towels as and when. Then before you leave, return the towels and get your card back. They will ask for it at reception when you check out. There was a kettle in the room, but no mugs or tea or coffee. Unsure whether this is an all inclusive thing, or whether you have to ask for it. We never figured that out but we didn’t need it. The jungle cocktail bar was good, and the cocktails were lovely but they were very expensive compared to the nearby restaurants. It also seemed like the normal drinks at the poolside bar (soda and local beer) was very expensive. I don’t know if this is to entice people to choose all inclusive, but it was a mistake we only made once.
Overall we did enjoy our stay and would stay there again in future, just a bit more forewarned!!
Lovely hotel
The hotel it’s self - beautiful and spotless. Room was immaculate!
Staff- incredible. So lovely and always said hello good morning and always smiling!!
Food was ok - not 5* not much for the kids either.
Entertainment was rubbish if I’m being honest. Kids disco coulda been earlier than 830 I think that’s quite late to be honest. Kids club needs more toys it was empty ? Kids were bored running around like lunatics felt sorry for the x1 staff that run it every night. They need more things to do in there.
I wouldn’t return but over all had a lovely stay!

Excellent Holiday, Smashing hotel
Returning guest..Had a wonderful week at the GF gran. Check in quick easy, offer of bellboy taking cases. Rooms very nice, plenty hanging space and shoe space. Bathrooms spacious, nice body wash. Lower showerhead useful when not washing hair. Washing line for wet swim clothes. TV had a few english channels and music channels. Tea coffee , kettle, bottle opener. More times you visit you get rewards, as a Gold member the fridge was full of water, alcohol, juice, chocolate. Bottle Cava, fruit bowl, flowers. Pools lovely, as it was school holidays lots of kids, balls games in pool, lot of lilo's..good ents team for pool fun if you want..plenty sunloungers, rooftop very quiet, over 18.. all inclusive at pool bar very good, delish piza, ceasar salad, breaded chicken, spag bol, chips onion rings, or we went to full lunch buffet. AI drinks very good and worth the AI cost tho i didnt like the wine. Cava was okay, dry, great as a bellini or mimosa all inc. App was good for checking what was AI or not.. lots top spirits AI. More has been added since last here July.. Breakfast food faultless tho very busy. Open till 1030 so we often went late when quieter. Dinner, options. Fresh pasta, pizza, meats, fish, Gluten free menu. Pool bar busy ,extra staff put on after issue was raised of queues. Entertainment was great some nights Tina, Queen ,Abba noteable, locals come to hotel to see them. Main bar busy, often we went to bar ourselves as quicker. Reception staff, some new starts but experienced staff on hand. Del Duque shops bars restaurants beside hotel, supermarket, hairdresser nail bars, quirky coffee shop, really nice.. 35 euros to fro Airport. Reception called taxi, 2 minutes..Airport no probs both ways.. altho slow motorway traffic on return so leave plenty time. Beautiful hotel.

Disappointing
Avoid & book elsewhere! The hotel itself is lovely, however there were so many things that let it down, to the point where we left early.
Food - I confirmed with the hotel that they catered for vegans before booking. Unfortunately, this was not really the case. The options most nights were fruit, boiled vegetables and salad. The staff told us that rice (which had the milk allergen symbol on the sign) was vegan, and that a seafood rice was also vegan. When asked if there was any possibility of other options, the restaurant said to speak to reception and reception told us to speak to the restaurant. We confirmed with a waitress if the only options one night were the boiled veg and salad and she said yes, and that the boss wouldn't do a separate menu for vegans. After this point, we received an email asking how our stay was and this was relayed back to them. Reception then asked us to speak to the sous chef, and he informed us that another family there were also vegan and he had been preparing food separately for them and he would for us for lunch and dinner for our remaining nights. This was great, however, no improvement for breakfast. The sous chef also informed us that the rice was vegan and said they made an error with the allergen, and showed us that they had changed the labels to say vegan - the next night, the milk allergen symbol was back on the rice and no vegan label. We did eat out most nights, which cost a fortune. My family are meat eaters and they were given undercooked omelette, and sausages. A batch of fresh chicken tenders were put on the kids buffet bar and when my sister in law cut into one before giving it to the kids, it was pink and undercooked. We immediately informed the staff and it took 4 different people communicating with each other for them to remove them.
Drinks - if you go all inclusive, be aware that not all drinks are included. Cider isn't included - no brands at all. Certain cocktails aren't included - but all of the spirits for them are (we ordered the spirits and mixers separately and mixed our own). It doesn't really make any sense. I would advise checking the menu before going to check if the drinks you like are included, if not it isn't really worth it.
Hotel room - the rooms are lovely, however ours was infested with bugs. We kept the balcony door shut, and still had bugs - crickets, ants and woodlouse. We also had some kind of emergency light come on in the night for over an hour, that wouldn't turn off. It lit up the entire room. Not ideal as I was having a bad migraine attack. Reception were called and we were advised that there was nobody there to look but security would come and check. Security never came.
Kids mini disco - not really sure what the point of this was. It started at 20:30 and only lasted for 15 minutes. Then you are quickly shooed out of the room.
Considering the cost of the hotel, it is not worth it at all. It definitely is not 5*. Save your money and book somewhere else.
