This is our 2nd time here and will definitely be back next year. Amazing location, warm and friendly staff. Rooms and facilities clean and comfortable. Great for family holidays… bonus that they don’t let you reserve beds until pool opens at 10am so plenty of sun loungers for pool days! Hope this continues 🤩
I first heard about this hotel through an influencer who stayed here on a paid holiday, although they weren’t advertising the hotel specifically.
On arrival, we were given a ground-floor room right next to the entertainment stage. On most nights this wouldn’t have been a problem as we were usually out late with our 4-year-old, but after arriving late on our first day we just wanted to relax. Unfortunately, there was no running water in the room, it smelt very musty, and it was obvious that recent work had been carried out on the walls as the smell of paint and plaster was very strong.
We reported the issues straight away but were told nothing could be done until the morning and to speak to the manager at 9am. Thankfully, we were later moved to another room, which was much nicer. However, the way this was handled wasn’t ideal. We were asked to pack our belongings and were rushed out of the first room. Staff took our luggage away and told us they would clean the new room as soon as possible and call us when it was ready. By 3pm we still hadn’t received a call, so we went to reception to ask, only to be told the room had already been ready. It would have been nice if someone had simply called us as promised.
Unfortunately, the water issue continued in the evenings. We were told it was an ongoing problem and that something needed replacing. In my opinion, if you’re aware of a basic issue like the water supply, you should either resolve it before accepting guests or adjust your prices accordingly. It’s not acceptable to charge full price when such an essential service isn’t reliable.
The food was the biggest disappointment and, without doubt, the worst all-inclusive food we’ve experienced. There was a different theme each night, but the quality was poor and most dishes lacked flavour. I only really enjoyed one evening’s meal. I usually look forward to the desserts on holiday, but they were repetitive and tasteless too. Even the fruit selection was very limited, which was surprising considering we were in Spain.
The drinks were also inconsistent. Sometimes the cocktails were strong and enjoyable, while other times they were overly sweet and tasted like they contained little or no alcohol.
One thing that made no sense was the soft drinks machine. It was only located at the kids’ pool, which is across the road from the main hotel entrance. There wasn’t one by the main pool, so every time you wanted a soft drink you had to queue behind people ordering cocktails, which became frustrating.
There were also a lot of rules around the pool and in the pool. While I appreciate that these are there for safety, the lifeguards seemed to spend more time policing minor issues than actually supervising the pool. They were constantly telling guests off for trivial things and then standing together making fun of the people they had just spoken to. We witnessed this several times, and it came across as very unprofessional.
Overall, although the replacement room was an improvement and the staff did eventually help, the ongoing water problems, disappointing food, inconsistent drinks, poor all-inclusive setup, and unprofessional behaviour from some of the pool staff meant this wasn’t the relaxing holiday we had hoped for.
In my opinion, this is definitely not a 4-star hotel. The only real positive I can mention is the location and the entertainment team. They were absolutely fantastic and, without a doubt, the best we’ve experienced on any holiday so far. They worked incredibly hard to keep everyone entertained from morning until night and are a real credit to the hotel. Well done to them! The location is great, you can visit 3 beaches that are in walking distance and Cala dor town is only 10-15 mins walk.
We had a great time with friendly staff and lots of activities for the kids. With a beach not far and 4 pools to pick from the girls had a ball. The food was of a high quality and lots of variety for everyone. I would recommend. It is a little bit of a trek to the beach in the heat but overall a fantastic holiday!
Thank you for the wonderful and delicious food! A special thank you to Isa and Ramon for their kindness, warm hospitality, and making us feel so welcome. We truly enjoyed our experience and look forward to coming back!
We had wonderful family holiday at Marsenses Ferrera Blanca. We visited last year and booked to return again this year and I’m so glad we did. We thought the animation team were outstanding this year and really made an effort to engage our kids and get them involved in the activities. There was a great range of activities and we particularly enjoyed the pool party! The kids loved joining in with the dance class and performing at the kids disco. Special thanks to Lorena, Armand, Letty, Andra, Ali, Romie, Steffi and Geo for all their enthusiasm and fun during our stay!
We also thought the entertainment put on by the animation team was fantastic this year and the team must have worked so hard on their timing and performance.
The reception team were helpful and sorted out any minor issues we had quickly. The staff in the dining room were lovely especially Isa who was always smiling and often knew what we were going to ask for before we had to ask! My son is a particularly fussy eater and the kitchen agreed to provide chicken nuggets at dinner time which was really helpful for us. We felt that some of the food wasn’t quite as good as last year with some of the dishes a bit cool in temperature but we still enjoyed the majority of the food especially the Mexican night. Every member of staff in all areas we interacted with were very helpful and the rooms were cleaned to a high standard.
We love Cala d’Or and the location of the hotel is ideal for a wander into the town or along to happy park for the kids to have a play. Will definitely be back!
