Barcarola Club Apartments

Just returned from a stay at the Barcarola club apartments going to give an honest review here of our trip. Arrived after a long trip from London at 7.30 pm dropped off at a bus stop and driver pointed down the road and said go down there!! Took us 5 mins to find the apartments not a great start tbh. Was greeted at the gate by a receptionist who immediately explained that unfortunately they were currently experiencing a power and water outage as did a few other shops/restaurants on the block which we found the next day. He was very apologetic - not his fault. We were checked in and made our way to our room luckily was still light outside but unfortunately unable to use toilet or freshen up as no power or water- not a huge issue - so we went to nearest pub/restaurant to eat, have a drink and use their toilets. Was still off when we got back , was darker and nearly fell on stairs as no lights. The power came back soon after which was good. It wasn’t really until next day that we could complete assess our room which was a lovely 2 bed apartment over looking the pool with 2 balconies , we had lovely kitchen facilities everything you needed was there. We even had beach/pool towels in room which was a lovely touch. Lots of cupboard space - we also had a Barcarola Tote bag left for us which was lovely - although was quickly taken by my daughter!! Would love to have asked for another! Good size shower and bathroom with double sinks, the shower had some mould around the edges could have done with a good scrub but wasn’t a huge issue for us. Toilet didn’t flush and air con wasn’t working correctly but a quick stop at reception and both fixed within minutes. Pool was lovely - no towel wars , lots of sun beds available and cabanas to rent, pool and beds cleaned everyday early in morning, lifeguard on duty every day- she was very polite and chatted with us. I think hotel only does B&B and a pool side sandwiches , which was in a lovely round room with extra couch seating if you wanted to relax - buffet breakfast best bit of all holidays - good variety of continental and English. Pool side bar at lunch which of you wanted cold drinks and a sandwich - lovely club sandwiches and chips. Beer/ wines available too. On the second night I was feeling really cold so took a dressing gown out of wardrobe only to find that a tote bag with vapes had been wrapped up in it so lead us to believe the dressing gown wasn’t changed from last visit. Not a big issue we just put it back and threw bag/vapes in the bin. Really forgot about it after that to mention to reception. Just wanted to mention about the dust in the room under the bed -was quite a lot and the big mirror outside bathroom was covered in handprints and they were still there when we left. Even though apartments were given a quick clean daily and towels changed when we requested a few other things were not done which really should have been done before we arrived These did not stop us from having a really nice time in the lovely hotel. The hotel is very well situated on the strip within a 15-20 min walk to the old town, lots of bars/ restaurants within a few minutes walk. The staff were all friendly and helpful and always said hello. The night receptionist always waved when we got back at night. The grounds were well kept and cleaned and well maintained. We asked if we could have a late check out on the last day - which was granted till 1.30 free of charge as we had arrived when they had no power or water- which I thought was a really nice touch, Overall we had a lovely relaxing holiday and would definitely go back( and get another tote bag)!

This hotel is a real hidden gem as others have said. First time in Lanzarote and Barcarola Club didn’t disappoint .

Location - Located at the start of the strip. A small gated entrance leads you into an oasis of calm. We had 2 x 1 bed apartments on the ground floor (block H). Both apartments were just stunning with patio and 20 second walk to pool. Guests were a mix of ages and nationalities. Excellent shower, air conditioning, hairdryer, bath robes, room & pool towels provided. No problem getting a sun bed at any time of the day. No entertainment at pool nor hotel in the evening. Pool bar serving snacks. Pool is so lovely, fresh at first when windy but as soon as you get in it feels fab. Small pool balls and inflatables were allowed. Hot tub.

Breakfast - fabulous choice, something for everyone (served 8:30-10:30)

Barcarola Club Team - All the staff were hardworking and friendly from the room maids, lifeguard, maintenance team keeping the grounds spotless, the breakfast catering team and the hotel reception team. If you wave and say hello they do the same. A lovely stress free atmosphere whilst staying here. Three or so well looked after resident cats on site chilling.

Gym - air conditioned, enough of each equipment for your average gym user

Laundry - on site diy I believe but didn’t use

No iron in room but we took a little portable steamer.

Room - minimal, modern and stylish. For us we found there was enough storage - a large wardrobe with 2 drawers at the bottom. Large screen tv in the lounge. No internal doors apart from the bathroom door - worked well and suited the style of the apartment. Comfy beds and pillows. We didn’t use the kitchen much but there was everything you would need - a hob, pans, chopping board, kettle, enough cutlery and crockery for 4 people, fridge. You just need to bring/buy some washing up liquid and a tea towel.

Location - Step outside the gate and you have the sea on the opposite side of the road, a handy Spar supermarket 3 mins walk to your left, a chemist, enough bars, restaurants and shops so you don’t need to venture far. Pleasant 20 min walk (or Euro 7 taxi) along the sea front to the Old Town passing many shops, bars & restaurants.

We were a family with 2 older teenagers - we all appreciated the tranquility of Barcarola Club. Step outside the gate and you literally have everything on your doorstep.

We would definitely return and recommend Barcarola Club to others.
