Elba Lanzarote Royal Village Resort

We’ve just done a week here. Unfortunately we won’t be returning to this hotel or the Elba hotels. Money appears tight (greedy) like it’s not willing to be put in to improve the business! We’ve done a few all inclusive holidays as it’s very convenient having 3 kids! I just feel the buffet through out the day is not to a 4* standard, I would say more of a 3*. Food is just slapped out to serve as quickly as possible! The kids burgers did not look like burgers! The salads and ham/cheese were sweaty with flies around! The drinks machine at breakfast for the juice kept coming out as water. My ten month old and my partner were also very sick! That was after eating the meats… maybe a bug? But I didn’t eat the meat and I’m not ill. The plates were dirty on a few occasions, I went to get a bowl to put baby puree in and all the dishes were dirty. I’d pick my cup up at breakfast and that would be dirty.. maybe they are short staffed and pot washing just gets done asap but that’s no good. The hotel is not clean! My partner pointed out some things and then I couldn’t stop seeing it. You only see housekeepers in the rooms, all week I never seen one in the reception and bar areas! Two drink at a time at the outside bar but on my last day the lady in front of me was served 4 drinks! When I asked a staff member about this she just told me her English was too bad. The British girl that does photography at the poolside and the younger lifeguard spent most of their working day flirting with one another and the photographer was slagging the company off to some guests,, I’d of liked family photos in the pool but it put me off as she looked as though she didn’t want to be there. Kids club is lovely as it has a soft play for my little one but again, not clean!!! Only went once for this reason. Maintenance issues in room.. my partner fixed our toilet flush 3 times! My daughter accidentally turned the bedae on and it flooded the bathroom! Turns out there was a crack in it! Thin walls, you can hear your neighbours. Aircon barely touched the room! We were boiling all week!!! Just fans everywhere. There’s such a list, we couldn’t wait to leave. Town was nice and only a 10/15 min walk.. that’s what kept us sane and changed our scenery. Our daughter enjoyed the pools and the mini disco in the evening. I have left the hotel a review and I will be writing to them. I just wanted to point out these things because if your saving your money all year to go on a holiday like this, I feel you might be disappointed if you want the 4* feel as it’s more of a 3*.

This hotel had everything, great choice at the buffet, little touches like sweets and crisps on the bars. Very clean. The animation team absolutletly make the holiday, they’re all so talented and brilliant with kids.

Location is great, 15 minutes from the beach down a great paved walkway. Atmosphere is dead!! We're in the adults only bit, and before 9pm no music, at 9pm a saxophone unenthusiastically plays along to a karaoke track. Much more stuff happening downstairs, but it's a kids club. Food is bad. Only good if you like ultra processed carbs and sauce. Drinks if you're not all inclusive are €10+. Lunch is genuinely shocking, staff apologise when they serve it. Apartments are clean and spacious, pools are really nice. There's just nothing to do.
