- Sol Lanzarote All Inclusive

The family-friendly hotel Sol Lanzarote is perfectly situated in a peaceful location in Matagorda, frontline to the sandy beach and the Atlantic Ocean. Guests will appreciate a wonderful pool landscape; part of the hotel is designed in a Flintstones style, with themed rooms and a themed restaurant as well as a Flintstones Bazaar. A shopping centre is only 200 metres away; the popular holiday resort of Puerto del Carmen is easily reachable by public transportation. An ideal hotel for families with children who wish to spend a beach holiday. We would like to inform you that the time has come to proceed with the repair of our three pools to offer a modern and functional product. For all this we wanted to inform you that we have decided, for the best achievement of this repair and above all to avoid inconvenience to our customers and partners, proceed to the temporary closure of this pool from the day 12/11/2020 with an estimated duration of 1 month. We are delighted to inform that the hotel will have another 2 swimming pools available and all the services will run as normal within the new reality adapted to the Covid-19 under the program Stay Safe with Melia.
Fantastic location very close to the local shops and the beach just across the road. The staff were all very friendly and happy to help, especially Nathan who had us involved in all the activities having a laugh.
⭐ Avoid – nowhere near a 4-star all-inclusive experience
We stayed at Sol Lanzarote for 14 days and, unfortunately, this has been one of the most disappointing all-inclusive experiences we’ve had.
The food is by far the biggest problem. The quality and choice are extremely poor and nowhere near what I would expect from a 4-star all-inclusive hotel. For much of our stay, the only thing we have found reasonably edible has been the desserts. We have genuinely gone hungry rather than eat much of the food being served. After paying for 14 days of all-inclusive, that is completely unacceptable.
You would honestly be better off renting a villa and cooking your own food. At least then you could enjoy decent meals rather than paying for an all-inclusive package and struggling every day to find something you actually want to eat.
Another important point that we were not aware of when booking is the beach is public and not a private hotel beach. The sunbeds on the beach are not included in the all-inclusive package and cost around €14 per day for two. We did not see this made clear when we were deciding whether to book. Over a 14-day holiday, that is a significant additional expense if you want to use beach sunbeds regularly.
The pool situation isn’t much better. Guests are reserving sunbeds from very early in the morning, so if you don’t join the daily race, you can struggle to find somewhere to sit. A 4-star resort should manage this properly.
Cleanliness is also disappointing. The floors don’t appear to be properly swept or cleaned regularly. Basic cleanliness should be a given at a hotel claiming a 4-star standard.
The entertainment is overwhelmingly aimed at children. Even much of the supposed adult entertainment feels like children’s entertainment, so adults looking for a decent evening programme may be disappointed.
There is also a €10 deposit per pool towel. It may be refundable, but it’s another detail guests should be aware of.
We’ve stayed at all-inclusive resorts before and know the level of food, service and facilities that a good all-inclusive can provide. Sol Lanzarote simply doesn’t come close to that standard.
Between the terrible food, cleanliness, sunbed situation, disappointing entertainment and additional beach costs, we would not return. For what we paid, renting a nice villa and buying and cooking our own food would have been a far better holiday.
Great hotel from start to finish- can’t fault the hotel at all. Beds were super comfy, nice air con, lots of different foods each day to select. Everything was super clean. Staff were friendly. Would definitely stay again
We loved this hotel and had a fantastic holiday. I don’t understand the negative reviews. The place is really clean and staff work hard to keep all areas constantly clean. It is in a perfect location right on the beach. The food was always varied with plenty of choice -something for everyone. Food was constantly topped up and there were lovely places to enjoy eating outside. Snack bar provides extra snacks such as ice cream, cakes, nuts, fruit, churros etc! The self service drinks machines made it easy to go and get what you wanted. The pools were spacious (though deep) and had fun activities such as water polo and paddle boarding. Staff were friendly and fun keeping everyone entertained. Evening shows were good too and the children loved the movie night with popcorn. A brilliant family hotel in a great location on a beautiful island which was really interesting to explore.
Staff are very helpful and very clean place
