Im not one for writing reviews but we read a lot negative reviews and wanted to give our honest opinion as they do not do the place just justice.
We went as a couple for 4 nights and paid £900 all inclusive. Value for money we thought this was fantastic. Drinks alone you get value for money compared to b&b option. We never struggled to find sometjing to eat. Plenty of choice. Breakfast was great.
The pool area was clean and tidy. The maintenance staff were always working to ensure this. The staff in general were very friendly and helpful. The room was ideal, great size. Room cleaned and fresh towels every day.
The hotel is in a perfect location. Plenty bars and restaurants a 2 or 3 min walk away. Overall we had a great 4 nights stay and would encourage anyone reading negative reviews to ignore them. As always if you want 5 star luxury then book a 5 star hotel with the price tag included.
I would rate this hotel as a 3 star. The location is brilliant, we had a pool view, the sea view would have been much better. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The issue we had was the room, signs of wear and tear generally, broken door surrounds, stains on chairs and bed. Bathroom had mould actually in the door bottom and all round the shower's silicon. Fridge door shelf broken so could not put milk in it. Not enough plug points constantly switching devices and appliances with TV and kettle plugs near tv. No plug in kitchen, so had to move toaster to another plug to use it... But what worried us the most was we had 4 bed bugs over the week and 1 cockroach. We were most worried about the bugs biting us in the bed and literally stripping beds and searching for the bugs we could have done without. And as with most hotels we had dirty feet and had to buy slippers. We are very easy going so it did not ruin the trip, but we would not go again unless the rooms were upgraded. I believe this has happened to some blocks but not our block, block 4. Also, everyday we would get drain smells around the pool, but I don't think this is the hotel, more just a problem with the general area. Update - I am most upset to have now come out with bed bugs bites on both arms and on 1 leg. I believe they are bed bug bites as they have been identified and apparently it can take 1-14 days for the bites to show on your skin. So we were in room 4212 and my husband has told me one night on he a bed bug coming out of the ceiling out of a tiny crack as well, so that makes 5 definite sightings. I also have photos of the bed bug. I am most upset as I go on holiday regularly and this has NEVER happened before. We wish we had requested a room change now. Please be aware.
We were apprehensive about firstly going on holiday in the middle of August (always avoid school holidays) and just some of the negative comments on here about this hotel. However, we were really happy with our stay... some of the comments on here seem massively exaggerated OR people just went on a poor week for the hotel, who knows... but for us:
It started with a wonderful reception by two male staff behind the reception desk. Both were very happy and greeted us with a laugh and a joke, even though one was suffering a little with man-flu. They upgraded our room to a sea view for no apparent reason (though I am sure there was an operational one, but it suited us, so never asked). they explained everything we needed to know clearly and concisely and checked us in, in under 10 mins. This small greeting set us up for a lovely stay at THB Lanzarote Beach, so thank you gents.
We got to our rooms to find them exactly as shown in the photos on Love Holidays where we booked, they were both lovely, really well decorated, maintained and clean. We had everything we needed, unpacked in 30 mins and felt we had plenty of space in both the living area and bathroom.
The Hotel facilities are great... The pool (whilst we prefer bigger and deeper) is fantastic for a family holiday and adults alike, plenty of sun beds, no wars in the morning to get one - always seemed a couple spare here and there through out the day. The pool area and pool itself was very clean - we used the pool generally 08:00 - 10:00 most days before heading out, and at 08:00 there were a number of staff there daily checking water cleanliness, jet washing the surrounding area and maintaining the plants and grounds. All of them seemed passionate about what they were doing and all were polite and pleasant to chat with - these employees can often be overlooked in a hotel by tourists as they are not often seen, but these were all a credit to the hotel and made our stay even better. The pool is a decent temperature, cold enough to cool you in the heat but not so cold people were screaming to get in... it ranges from 1m - 1.35m and has various places to access including ramps for those that need them, and it was a funky shape. There were a few broken parasols dotted around and not enough for everyone, but that's usual at any hotel.
The hotel also has its own evening bar, a relaxing lounge area with a mezzanine that holds table tennis, pool and a stage for events. There is a large TV in the lounge are, often showing the football, and there are entrance / exits to the back and the front of the building.
There are various water stations dotted around the hotel community areas, offering ice cold, tepid, warm and very hot water for free, which is great.
I am not a great sleeper - bit of an insomniac, and naturally hot, but the aircon in the rooms was excellent, also having a see view meant we could sleep with the balcony doors wide open breathing in the fresh air - and I slept like a baby most nights. Despite looking out over the promenade, with a few bars and cafe's below us and a regular group exercise area, we were never disturbed by any noise.
We only had a room, no food, as we prefer to eat out and choose whatever we want as we go, so I cannot comment on the food, but the various eating areas all looked very nice, and very clean and smelled great - spoke to a couple of our holiday makers staying at THB, and they said the food was excellent...
The only things I could point out that we did report to reception but nothing was ever done about were:
...But that was it, and these were all very minor things that really never bothered us at all, we couldn't hear the running water from within the living area, even with the bathroom door open. The flooding was easily mopped up with a towel, and we didn't use the bathroom window really as it (weirdly) opened out on to the communal walkway inside the hotel.
Overall, would highly recommend this hotel (and Costa Teguise) if you want a nice, relaxing holiday, 100m from the beach, and happy staff and locals... not sure if it really should be a 4*, but it's far better than any 3* star I have ever stayed in, and we didn't use all of the facilities, so it would be unfair to say it isn't... we'd give it a 3.75* but would definitely go back to test it out in full.
Great Hotel, Great Staff, Great Holiday - thank you.
Excellent hotel. Food wonderful and varied throughout the week. Staff were helpful and accommodating. Great facilities. Entertainment for children was great. The young man organising the entertainment encouraged the children of all ages to join in and learn the party dances. Good acts each evening. Rooms all had lovely views of the pool. Easy walk to beach, Marina and port.
We have just returned from a week's stay here with my husband and two children, aged 11 and 7.
Room: We stayed in a sea view room in Block 4. The room was clean, spacious, and well-equipped for self-catering, with everything we needed during our stay. The only downside was that there wasn't a dining table or designated area to sit and eat. However, this wasn't an issue for us as the hotel is in a fantastic central location, right next to the beaches, bars, and restaurants, so we rarely ate in the room.
Pool Area: The pool area was clean and well-maintained, and we never had any issues finding sunbeds. I had read some reviews saying the pool was cold, but unless a pool is heated, that's to be expected. It certainly didn't seem any colder than other pools we've used, and it was very refreshing in the heat. All of us enjoyed spending time there.
Food & Staff: We didn't eat at the hotel, so I can't comment on the food. However, the staff we encountered were polite and friendly.
I have stayed in a number of 4-star and 5-star hotels, and based on what I saw, I would say this is a solid 4-star hotel. We stayed at the Barcelo Active Resort earlier this year and personally preferred this hotel.
Overall, we had a very enjoyable stay. The location is excellent, the rooms are comfortable, and the hotel provided everything we needed for a relaxing family holiday
