Good if you have a very young family

Just spent two weeks at H10 Lanzarote Gardens, for the most part it is a very nice hotel. We were originally booked elsewhere and had to move due to build-works next to property. We rebooked to H10 and per bad luck our room was on 3rd floor (not easy with cases) at the very back of property in the Tenerife block, this had building works outside our room, noise beginning at 7:30 each day but not too bad, as other property was much noiser. We went half board and it is possible to upgrade but at €40 per day per adult & €20 per child we didnt see the benefit of it to just add lunch and drinks as we are not big drinkers. There is just one restaurant and main bar so that felt a bit limited having been at other all inclusives with way more choice. The food for the most part was nice though meat selection felt limited some days and not all foods were labelled as to what they were, leading to choosing items that were not to ones taste at times. I would also be concerned for people with certain food allergies if many items are not labelled, but this is easily rectified. The cutlery was odd also with very skinny forks and knives making eating a bit difficult though am guessing this was purposefully done. There was no indication what type of food was served each evening so it was hard to plan if u wished to go eat out if food was not to your liking. There were times the restaurant was very busy and it felt quite chaotic so choose quieter times very early or later after 8. The main issue really was there are alot of really young families here with babies & toddlers so restaurant was often very noisy with crying irritable children. This was the main issue for us as really our children were too old for this hotel at 11 & 13 they fall into the awkward age of not adults but too old for their club that was aged 9-14 as the hotel missed the mark for engaging this age group. The entertainment room and bar was Im sure great for people with kids under 7 but looked like the last place you would choose to go daily for entertainment as it was hectic every evening and again aimed at very young children. We saw examples of the entertainment and really it was not great. We felt the only thing for our kids to do was play pool, this being at the back of the bar and €2 a game, unfair if that was all that realistically entertained this age group. We were not alone in thinking this. The animations team worked very hard with entertainment at the pool and while some was quite cheesy some was really good fun. The pool areas are lovely but main pool is cold at 24c and unpleasant to get into even in the evening. The smaller pools were 26c so slightly better but I felt the water didnt look clean in the smaller pool. Overall we felt the property was very well kept with constant maintainance of landscaping and public areas. It was overall very clean and the very pleasant staff work very hard to keep it so. Our suite room was spacious for a family of 4 with nice shower, proper a/c comfortable beds and balcony area. If you have a young family under the age of 8 then I would recommend this hotel as your children will be well entertained and you wont really mind the noise of other peoples crying kids so much, but I wouldn't choose it if you have older kids as having been at other all inclusive hotels they cater better for older kids and really there is a need for balance to keep everyone happy. We did go on trips to the Aqua park €6 taxi ride away. Rancho texas zoo & water park, rented a car to explore island and manrique museums, snorkled at Jablillo beach and tried as many activities off site to entertain our kids with additional costs, so factoring these things in is important. This holiday for 2 weeks half board with flights was €7,200 so although there were many positives about the hotel it needed more for our age demagraphic

TripAdvisor Review
Disappointed, not 4 star and VERY family friendly!
  • Summary - Really disappointed generally. Poor location, mediocre food and not a pleasant dining experience, basic accommodation, far too family friendly ie little kids / babies for our older crew.

  • Costa Teguise - not a very nice spot, strange vibe, not good shops, even touristy ones were rubbish, lots of empty shop units. Not very scenic. Felt like it has lacked investment lately. No nice walks or views.

  • Hotel;

    • Reception - old and outdated, wierd plastic flower arrangements. Had to carry our own bags to room whereas previous H10 hotel (same 4 star) we had help and a much nicer welcome.
  • Room - basic. Old. Clearly in need of renovation. Not a single piece of art on the walls so basically a white box. Beds are comfy, cleaners made beds daily. Decent size and two balconies but covered in dust due to the wind!

  • Famara Buffet - it’s a canteen. Not a huge variety and my repetition every night. But it was grand, fresh enough. A couple of our fussier kids struggled as they just wants goujons or sausages and weirdly (considering the amount of kids!) they couldn’t get anything like that! We are out twice as we couldn’t take much more of it.

  • Pool Bar - deep fried frozen food Kids liked it! They ran out of stock of the only decent thing (chicken fingers) for three days of our stay! Inside the bar is roasting, outside there are far too few tables. We had to sit on our balcony most nights as we couldn’t get a table!!! Staff work hard and most are friendly enough. Could defo use more staff on busy nights.

  • Pool - loads of sunbeds, a real bonus, absolutely brilliant to not have to reserve or fight dor good spots. Could have a relaxing lay in and breakfast and head down to pool whenever. Really these are the only main positive points for us!

While the pool was nice enough, very clean, great temperatures, the slides were small so they were too big for our kids, more for 2-5 years.

  • Kids entertainment - We had 12,13,15 year old with us as well as a 6 year old. They did not like it. The teen area on the website or hotel map does not exist. I asked reception and they said they didn’t have enough demand (saw plenty of teens there). Tried to get a basketball for them to play on the crappy old courts, they didn’t have one. Nothing for them to do in the evenings except pool or ping pong when tables were free. Always a big queue.

The mini disco was a carpet of babies and small kids and went on for hours and continues into the ‘adult entertainment’ so it’s basically one big mini disco. My kids were bored stiff in the evenings! They couldn’t go anywhere around the hotel as they felt it was ‘sketchy’. Lesson learnt here for us, to find somewhere more teen friendly.

Generally for the amount we paid for this holiday I don’t feel we got what we paid for. I have paid the same amount for similar four star hotels and had a much better experience. Mainly the dining, the area around the hotel and finding a spot to settle in the evenings were the main issues.

If youve young kids you might find this suits your needs, it just did not meet our needs and certainly not the standards I would be expecting of a 4 star hotel.

Book it - You won’t be disappointed

We have recently returned from the H10 suites Lanzarote Gardens on an all inclusive stay as a family including an 8 year old, and what a brilliant experience it was.

From start to finish, this holiday was perfect

Arrival

  • quick simple check in where everything was explained in detail
  • staff incredibly welcoming, always have a smile on their face and go out of their way to support.
  • when we got into our room, it was absolutely spotless, the location just wasn’t ideal for our family. We asked at reception if there were anymore rooms available, and the lovely lady moved us into the most beautiful suite overlooking the pool which was massively appreciated.
  • arrived late but they left sandwiches, fruit and cakes aside in the pool bar for us to collect which was a nice touch

Pools

  • perfect for my 8 year old, she loved them especially the slides and the pool mat which was operated by the fantastic entertainment team
  • children’s pool a bit on the cold side, but it didn’t bother my daughter in the slightest, and as the weather was so hot it was refreshing. Who wants a hot pool when the weather is hot anyway!?
  • heated, deeper pool at the back which again was great. Some days we went into this before getting into the colder pool to ease ourselves in!
  • more than enough sun beds and parasols and definitely no sunbed wars!
  • if you leave your towels unattended before the pool opens, the lifeguards will remove the towels which is a good thing as it stops people reserving sunbeds from silly o clock.

Restaurant

  • amazing staff, very attentive
  • best all inclusive food we’ve ever had, so much choice. For the full English lovers, they have proper sausages, bacon, hash browns and even black pudding which I’ve never had on an all inclusive holiday! For dinner they had a large selection of different meats daily, as well as pastas, different riced dishes and much more.
  • deserts were unreal, white chocolate gateau was to die for!
  • self serve wine, lager, coffee and soft drinks along with plenty of different juices
  • a separate children’s self serve area which was brilliant so the kids can get their own food if they prefer
  • chocolate fountain was a stand out feature for the kids, obviously

Drinks

  • even though it’s advertised as a standard all inclusive holiday, all the drinks are branded and they even had red bulls on the AI if you fancy a boost!
  • lager is estrella, served freezing cold pint glass if you’re inside

Pool bar

  • again, staff were fantastic, they work so hard and always have a smile on their face
  • drinks as above
  • separate section for food which you’re able to enjoy at your sunbed. They serve different baguettes, chicken strips, burgers (chicken and beef), chicken wraps and wings, hot dogs, chips, onion rings and more! All freshly made and very tasty, hardly ever a wait either which is testament to the hard work the staff put in.

Entertainment

  • staff were so so good! Couldn’t do any more for you, seems unfair to single an individual out as they were all great, but carmelo was fantastic, the energy levels certainly raised when he entered the room.
  • shows were fantastic, magicians, dancers and much more. Highlight was the “greatest show” which was done by the entertainment team, 10/10
  • mini disco was fantastic, the team constantly engaging with the children and the dance floor was always packed which tells a story itself!
  • my daughter didn’t join the kids club, but it was always full and the other kids looked to be enjoying themselves so I have no doubt that was brilliant too.

Location

  • location was excellent, a shopping centre just over the road with plenty of shops and a few bars overlooking the stunning beach

I may have missed some bits off, but I genuinely couldn’t think of a negative even if I tried.

Thanks H10, please never change and we will see you again soon no doubt

Great hotel but needs some polishing. Worth visiting

H10 Lanzarote Gardens

First impression a good hotel but needs polishing, hence the 4.5 stars. Last-minute family holiday to Lanzarote with daughter, 4 years.

Arrived late morning to the hotel; first thought was the reception area and lobby bar need modernising, but if prioritising funds, I would spend them elsewhere, which presumably the hotel did, as the rooms were clean and modern-ish, pool and restaurant area well maintained.

Check-in was prompt, quick, and easy with credit card registration for any misc. purchases, and our room was ready, staying in a family suite which has a separate living area with a sofa bed and a mini kitchenette with a fridge, sink, kettle, and coffee maker whilst we booked all inclusive; good touch to wash bits up, etc., and if travelling with a young family, this would be a big advantage.

The hotel is made up of blocks of suites around the property perimeter with the pools and restaurant in the middle.

Pool bar/snacks: you can have drinks on your all-inclusive package from the bar throughout the day along with some basic snacks, nachos, chips, burgers, etc., which were okay…. Service here was mixed; often slow but was no real issue; appeared to be a ‘classic’ holidaymaker area. The area overnight, however, was not cleaned by the night staff, just left for the morning, which when up for breakfast early was a sight!

Pool - Slippery floor around it, but with care isn’t an issue; the gradient of the main pool is good with a splash/toddler section and then a slightly deeper bit with slides makes it easier to play in the pool and also relax due to the water depth. Good selection of slides for the kids. Pool was clean and well maintained; had on most days three lifeguards. And the hotel provides one set of clean towels, but changes are €1 per towel. Guess you could balcony dry them. Seems to be plenty of sunbed availability.

The pool and sunbed area was cleaned daily, but often bits of crockery /glasses were missed again. No real issue for us, just moved them. On a positive note, the hotel staff moved towels off sunbeds not in use. There are clear signs and advice not to rudely or selfishly reserve sunbeds, which is great. The pool toilets need cleaning out more frequently during the day as the floor gets very wet

There is a small play park for kids at the side of the pool, which whilst small is ok. This was attached to one of the three kids clubs, which were categorised into ages: baby / toddler up to five, then a junior club. These were staffed with a good ratio of children to supervised staff,

Hotel has daily entertainment provided by an in-house team that provides a timetable of activities.

Food

Breakfast Good selection of both cooked and cold foods: yoghurts, salad, and cooked meats along with the usual stuff. Only one issue: a few mouldy oranges, which was a shame as everything was ok Lunch Good selection of lighter food, fresh Mediterranean-style salads, etc., a cooked option, pizza, and the usual stuff. The selection was good and finished to a decent standard considering it’s an all-inclusive buffet.

Dinner: We tried to mainly go for the 18:30 opening as this is later than we would usually eat with our daughter. The restaurant capacity was ok at this time, but when we left, it was chaos. Serving staff were very polite as were everyone, no grumbles with attitude but very slow and clearing tables even if they do them at all between courses.

Check out was prompt we had a late morning flight and was able to store our luggage briefly however the hotel does offer long term storage and changing facilities for those guests needing rooms or a place for an evening flight. Not sure if this is a charge or not.

Overall great holiday

Best Hotel and Animation Team

Our family of 4 has just returned from the most incredible holiday at H10 Lanzarote Gardens, and we honestly couldn’t recommend it enough!

From the moment we arrived, everything exceeded our expectations. The hotel was spotless, beautifully maintained, and in a fantastic location. The food was excellent, with so much choice every day that there was something for everyone, including our kids.

What really made this holiday unforgettable was the amazing animation team. They brought so much energy, enthusiasm, and fun to every single day. There was always something happening, whether it was games, activities, or entertainment, and they made everyone feel included.

The foam party was an absolute highlight for the whole family, and we were lucky enough to experience two incredible White Parties too. The music, atmosphere, and energy were simply fantastic – they created memories we’ll never forget!

A special mention also goes to the kids’ club. It was safe, well-organised, and our children absolutely loved it. The staff were caring, engaging, and made it easy for us to relax knowing our kids were having the best time.

This was genuinely one of our favourite family holidays ever. If you’re looking for a fun-filled, family-friendly resort with outstanding entertainment, fantastic facilities, delicious food, and wonderful staff, H10 Lanzarote Gardens is the place to go. We can’t wait to come back!!
