Relax week in Serenity part

Stayed in the Serenity part of the hotel so nice and relaxing and quiet thats why I picked it. I stayed here for a week, rooms were standard, was some issues with the shower but was kind of sorted. Rooms were cleaned and towels were changed, staff were friendly and welcomed and when arrived had a bottle of wine in tte room so kind. There is not air con unless you rent them, so rooms were unbearable and these days have air con free. Food was hit and miss but I am a fussy eater, breakfast was the best. Costa teguise is lovely plenty of places, restaurants etc to see, i wouldn't stay here again...

Lovely Relaxing Week

Lovely stay here with my friend, a week went far too fast. Absolutely no complaints for the money we spent on B&B. Food choices were plenty, more than enough choice. Staff helpful. Will definitely return at some point. Thank you Hotel Sirocco

Should be downgraded to a 2 star hotel

Pros

  • in a decent area, shops, beach and restaurants in a 5-15 minute walk, not a lot to do as you first come out of the hotel but turn right outside of the hotel and you’ll come across multiple squares and mini shopping centres and supermarkets
  • Hotel is clean and kept tidy, bins were always low and not piled high
  • Cocktails were good and was at a reasonable price too! Was a little bit of a wait for them but don’t mind waiting if it’s fresh ingredients they’re using instead of pre mixed cocktails
  • The entertainment guy was amazing!! I didn’t catch his name but please give him a raise!! Even if you don’t take part in the entertainment he is such a laugh and will always talk to you!! Best part of our holiday!
  • Plenty of sunbeds to go around, never run out and there was always space around the pool for them
  • The waiters at breakfast and dinner are lovely! Didn’t get his name but the guy who comes and sings during bingo he is soo lovely and is always happy to help
  • WiFi was relatively good, we was in room 130 which is the furthest away from the lobby so could only get it in certain parts of the apartment but worked everywhere else in the hotel
  • Food that you could buy at the snack bar was reasonably priced, good portions for the money
  • Check out is at 12, we wasn’t getting picked up till 7:30pm they allowed me to keep my medication in their fridge/freezer free of charge
  • More then enough luggage and wardrobe space
  • First adults only hotel I’ve seen where they’ve had lifeguards on duty, will say they wasn’t really needed at the pool wasn’t that deep instead they could’ve been the ones to tell the women to put their bikini tops back on!
  • No aircon but didn’t bother us (for reference we went mid August) really didn’t think we needed it but can rent a fan or air con unit from reception

Cons

  • check in is a bit lengthy, each person has forms to fill in but the receptionist will only see one group at a time so can be lengthy when 2+ groups get off at once
  • The surroundings and outside local area is quite dirty, bins are always heaving, dead cockroaches on the floor and even found a used bloody tampon on the floor the first day we was here! Although this don’t have much to do with the hotel itself I’d rather book a hotel knowing the surroundings are nice and clean
  • They chain the sunbeds at this hotel for absolutely no reason, there’s always enough sunbeds to go around but at 10am there’s always a queue for the beds as they’re locked up
  • They prioritise the Spanish over everyone else, they allow them to skip the queues and will get served first and will also get free drinks. There was a Spanish party at the hotel and they had a birthday within this party, they got 4 rounds of drinks for free, there was two other English parties with birthdays and they had to pay and queue whilst the Spanish skipped the queue. This is discrimination and is one of the many reasons I will not be returning
  • Not enough toilets in public areas, there is one female and one male toilet in the lobby which personally I don’t think there’s enough of and there’s one toilet for the pool, okay yes it’s a small hotel but only one toilet for the pool? I had to go to my apartment every-time I needed the toilet as I didn’t want to wait I. The queue
  • There’s only one shower room for the whole hotel, so if you don’t want a late checkout room or can’t get one beware there could be a queue, how I seen it was the later the better. I went in at 5pm and wasn’t any queues before I went in or after, but around 1-3pm is when I’ve seen queues. There’s also a sensor light in the room which is a very bad idea. When you’re in the shower it can’t see you so it turns off after 30 seconds- 1 minute which makes things a bit harder. Please just put a normal light switch in there. Shower room also gets very hot so is hard to dry yourself when your rushing!
  • No extraction fans in the bathrooms, our party had a one bedroom apartment and a two bedroom apartment, two bedroom had a window but our one bedroom didn’t. Extractor fans should be basic when at a hotel
  • We went half board, breakfast was okay nothing amazing and dinner honestly was hit and miss with everything lacking flavour. Instead of going half board I wish I would’ve done bed and breakfast as dinner just isn’t worth it, I only had dinner 3/7 days I was there for. Wouldn’t cater for any specific needs at the hotel which wasn’t helpful for me as majority of the stuff I couldn’t eat
  • Bins for the one bedroom apartments should be a lot bigger, maids come approx once every 2 days, bin gets full after a day. We did see a recycling point over the other side of the complex, these should be outside every block then you could get away with the smaller bins
  • Onto the main reason why I’d never come back, we had no running water for the first 3 days, everyday this happened we went to reception to make a complaint, on day one they said they’d send someone over to have a look at the water heater. Unsure on if someone actually came. Second day we complained and reception told us that it was due to our room and that we have the older water heater so it don’t hold that much water so we should wait 15 minutes before using it again. So on the third day we waited 15 minutes after and the water was still stone cold. Bear in mind on this day I could only get 6 minutes of hot water and it didn’t fill back up after 15 minutes so another cold shower was had. We went to reception and asked for a complaints form which they declined giving us, asked for the manager in which the director came out and we told him the problems we were having, he said that he’d send the maintenance guy around to fix it and it could just be the fact that an element needs cleaning, in less then 5 minutes the maintenance guy came over literally looked at the water meter and said it was fine, my mom explained that the director had said he can take it apart and look at it he said “no, it will explode if I touch it” yet he came to the room with a drill? Then started muttering in Spanish? Obviously we didn’t know what was said and wasn’t happy that he was muttering in a different language as we didn’t know what he was saying with that he said in English that he wasn’t touching it as it will explode and then he left. I’ve then gone into reception and asked if we could change rooms, they said yes and I asked what condition the water heater was in and they said they don’t know, asked if they’ve done any checks on it they said they’d don’t know. They said the heaters last a year and then they explode I asked when our one was last replaced and they couldn’t tell me when (at this point I was talking to the maintenance guy, receptionist and director) and I explained that the temperature gage don’t hit red and he said if it hits red it will explode. So on three different occasions I got told these things would explode. Went back to the room and discussed that there’s no point in moving as the other water heater could be in the same condition if not worse. Following this I attempted to contact jet2 who didn’t get back to me on that night, the morning came and jet2 had gotten back to me saying that they have tried calling the hotel but it just keeps going to voicemail (the reception was very rarely busy so couldn’t understand this) we went to reception to check if there was anyone there. Receptionist was there on her own with the director. We went to breakfast and in the space of jet2 actually getting involved (roughly 3hrs) the hotel had agreed to put a new water heater in. Very thankful that jet2 managed to sort it but clearly the hotel was never going to do it on our complaints that we had made for 3 days! Following the new water heater they’ve now put a date on it (when I spoke to the jet2 rep she said that they don’t need documentation of when they was last replaced) jet2 rep also confirmed that they don’t explode. So I’m a bit confused of what to and what not to believe now. Water heater does last much longer now and gauge also goes right to the end whereas the other one didn’t even go up halfway.
  • Although I’m aware this is an adults only hotel, people having their boobs out in my opinion is an absolute no go, there are nudist hotels or beaches that are designed for that. I’ve never felt soo uncomfortable at this hotel, I have been to many adults only hotels and this has been the first and only hotel that I have been too to allow this to happen which I honestly think is vile. You could tell other people were also uncomfortable as they’d move their sunbeds away from these people. The hotel should be putting up signs also spoke to the jet2 rep about this and she agreed
  • On one of our nights there I went to go and get some ice cream from the buffet, the label read vanilla ice cream but instead was lemon i understand this is just something small to be complaining about but someone could’ve easily been allergic to it and could’ve had a allergic reaction. As soon as it goes out the label should be going out with it
  • One day pool floats was allowed in the pool and the next day they wasn’t thought this was very annoying, certain lifeguards allowed them and other ones didn’t. Wouldn’t mind but the pool was completely empty so why it wasn’t allowed I’d never know
  • Small selection of proteins, the chicken they put out didn’t look or taste like chicken, god knows what they was actually serving

Overall I wouldn’t be returning back to this hotel, I honestly don’t know how it’s a three star, I’d say two star on a good day, glad I was with a group of people that we could still all enjoy the holiday but never again would I return

  • shower was dirty, dirty tiles all over the shower. If deep cleans were kept up this could easily be prevented

Relaxing holiday poor customer service

Rooms are spotless and spacious. Pool area is very clean, relaxed with plenty of sunbeds. Location very good, close to beach, shops and restaurants. Teguise beach is beautiful so lovely to swim in. Cleaning staff and office staff were efficient and helpful but the hotel is badly let down by the clearing / bar staff. They were rude and made no attempt to smile , speak English or show common courtesy, with the exception of the restaurant manager. He was very pleasant and cheerful. At breakfast the staff would talk over your table loudly in spanish, fail to acknowledge you and offered no service...reflected in an empty tip jar all the time we were there. The hotel has alot to offer but sadly this failing in training staff in simple customer service would prevent us from coming back.
