Rock Nation - top performance
Just watched Rock Nation perform. Despite England losing the World Cup semi final, this Argentinian group were absolutely marvellous, performing for nearly 2 hours. Well done to everyone concerned.

It calls itself a 4 star so should be judged as one hence the rating I have given.
Rooms: premier inn 3star level. Spacious rooms can see the sea and also some industrial unit with wind turbines. Bathroom large, all very clean, beds ok, large tv. But Basic, cheap furnishings and very poor air conditioning, which is a common theme across the rooms on the active side. It’s hot outside and cooler than the air conditioned rooms!
Pool: if you want to be around the pool get ready for a race to the beds at a 9am rope drop, pretty pathetic, if they are going to allow people to reserve then let the early risers win in a free for all. If you don’t specifically want to be on top of the pool, the noise and the loud kids, you can reserve beds on the terraces from anytime.
Restaurant: nice, staff very attentive, use of Aircon should be a given in a 4 star, if you can’t get outside prepare to sweat whilst eating not very relaxing. Lots of food, and choice although it doesn’t change much, luckily we only have 7 days, 14 would be too much. They constantly replaced food, fresh but relatively tasteless and dry/overcooked meats and fish. No à la carte or theme restaurants included, unlike most other 4 stars. Gym is good definitely 4 star, beach is pointless it has no sand! On a good bus route to get around the island whether it’s Costa teguise or Costa Blanca. Entertainment: average If you want a late check out room, almost zero prospect, but we have heard you can use the gym to change. Can’t see us coming back.

Avoid at all costs!!! Infested with cockroaches and the staff says it is normal
We are a family of five (2 adults and 3 children aged 10, 8 and 2). We stayed at Barceló Lanzarote Active Resort from 4 to 11 July.
From the moment we arrived, we found cockroaches in our room. We immediately reported the problem to reception. We were offered two options: move to another room or have our room cleaned again.
The first room we were shown was at the other end of the resort, much too far from the pools for our toddler. It also had a toilet that was constantly running. We therefore chose to have our room cleaned.
The following day, despite the cleaning, we found cockroaches in our room again. We reported the problem once more, but were told we would have to wait until another room became available.
We arrived on Saturday and were only moved to another room on Wednesday evening. During those four days, we continued to see cockroaches. My children slept very badly and were terrified. One of my daughters even woke up screaming after seeing one. Those first days of our family holiday were filled with stress instead of enjoyment.
What shocked us the most was being told by reception that seeing cockroaches was "normal" because we were in Lanzarote. While we understand that insects exist on the island, we do not consider it normal to repeatedly find cockroaches inside a hotel room costing around €2,650 for one week's stay.
After changing rooms, we no longer had the problem, which we appreciated. However, this did not give us back the four nights of our holiday that had already been ruined.
As compensation, the Guest Experience Manager offered us one dinner in the à la carte restaurant and later a 20% discount code for a future stay. Our request for financial compensation was refused.
We have photographs, videos and the complete email correspondence documenting everything that happened.
If cockroaches do not bother you, this may not be an issue. But if, like us, you expect a clean hotel and good customer service, we cannot recommend staying here.

Highly recommended hotel with all the amenities! Many attractions, perfect for families with children, and fantastic and very helpful service.
Clientele and food a let down
The hotel itself is nice and facilities are good. All the staff are great and very friendly and helpful. Bars and drinks are good for all inclusive The location is not an issue with the nearest town a 40 min walk or easy bus drive. This takes you to a beach with few bars and shops. The bus to the Sunday market isn’t reliable but there are ways to get there and is worth a visit. The rooms (active side)are good with separate living room, decent bathroom and balcony. No issues with sunbeds with us always able to find 1 or 2 at any time of day with no need for the 9am rush. This is all due to hotel clientele rather than the hotel. This is what lets the hotel down. The irony of this hotel being marketed as active and wellness isn’t lost - the vast the majority of customers are neither active nor well based on their appearance, amount of drink, vaping, swearing/shouting and awful tattoos that were present.
The food isn’t great. Poor selection across both buffet restaurants, warm and not well cooked. Probably the worst all inclusive we have been to. This is a with the exception of the breakfast where the selection was good and enjoyable.
A disappointment but as we were only here for a few days it didn’t spoil our break.
