- Corallium Dunamar by Lopesan Hotels

This beautiful hotel stands in a privileged spot on the well-known Playa del Inglés in the south of Gran Canaria and about 20 minutes' drive from the airport. An incomparable location that offers guests exceptional views of the Canary Island coast, as well as of the six-kilometre-long golden sand beaches. The hotel offers guest rooms which are perfectly decorated with soothing colours and are equipped with all the convenient amenities needed for a comfortable and memorable stay. The property is surrounded by charming gardens and refreshing, freshwater swimming pools. All swimming pool areas have beach beds, sunshades for guests to sunbathe or just relax by the pool. The hotel restaurant service offers delicious international cuisine, cooked with fresh ingredients.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
We recently stayed at this hotel and had mixed feelings about our experience.
On arrival, we were really impressed. The hotel is beautiful, the aesthetics are stunning, and the location is excellent. We arrived in the evening, so we checked into our room and headed straight to dinner. Our first impression was very positive.
The following day, however, after exploring the hotel and spending time by the pool, we started to feel disappointed. There was virtually no daytime entertainment or atmosphere. There was no music around the pool, and it felt very quiet throughout the day.
One of our biggest frustrations was the lack of snacks. Unless you were there exactly when they were put out around lunchtime, there was very little available until the next serving a few hours later. Snacks weren't readily available throughout the day, and after 6pm there was nothing like crisps, nuts, or light bites to enjoy with a drink while watching the evening entertainment. On the positive side, the drinks selection was excellent, and we had no complaints there.
The housekeeping was another letdown. It wasn't terrible, but it certainly wasn't what we'd expect from a four-star hotel. We had to complain after our room wasn't cleaned properly for two consecutive days. We were told it would receive a deep clean, but even after that, it still didn't meet the standard we expected.
Overall, if you're looking for a peaceful, quiet holiday or you're retired and simply want somewhere to relax, this hotel would probably suit you well. However, as a couple in our 30s, we found it very boring and repetitive, with very little going on during the day or evening. While we did appreciate that it was an adults-only hotel with no children, that alone wasn't enough to make us want to return.
Sadly, despite the beautiful surroundings and great location, we wouldn't choose to stay here again.
Unsure at first but then fell in love!
We arrived just as it was going dark. Booked unique. Lady on reception very nice. Gave us our bands and said go eat and we will book you in later. We didn’t get a drink on arrival and the only time we saw someone at the unique desk was when we were leaving I thought the hotel was tired but then … it stole my heart. Started to fall in love with everything! Location is perfect. Shops over the road and we loved the busyness of it all. The hotel is just delightful starting with every member of staff. Courteous and helpful. The buffet hall is incredible. At first glance there’s a section for hot food. section for salads, section for fruit/ ice cream. It doesn’t look enough but it was. Staff amazing clearing tables and just so polite! I’m a veggie and fussy but I always found something to eat. Unique breakfast in unique area is a must as are staff The rooms are big enough and very clean tho I have to admit some quirky things like the bedside table was just that. No drawers and my meds looked a mess on top. Loved the layers and nooks and crannies where you could sunbathe. Unique had its own section. Quite small but we always found somewhere to lie. Loved the jacuzzi and reading area. We found out ( unique) … You can fill in a form when you’d like maid to clean your room No towels on balcony If leaving late and you are unique, if ur room is free, they will let you stay in foc ( for us, till 6 pm) Wine on pump in both bar area and in the food hall. You get one meal in the Mediterranean restaurant next to buffet hall so don’t forget to book that too! For walking enthusiasts the walk along the sand dunes when you go out through the turnstile near large pool, straight onto beach and go right. It’s amazing. There’s a lighthouse you can Walk round foc in next bay. Well worth the steps! ( cooler walking by sea). You do pass two nudist beaches as a warning tho! So we left wanting more and may even go back in a few months As an add on Gran Canaria airport was quite efficient! Have a great holiday
Thanks corallium for a fab holiday. We will be back!
We spent 12 days in Corallium. Let's start with the good:
Located in Maspalomas on walking distance of the Dunes en with a small shopping centre at your doorstep, you can't go wrong.
No worries there, everyone welcomes you with a smile and is eager to help or chat when needed.
The all inclusive buffets score a lot lower on "Quantity" than most hotels we visited througout the years, and there are A LOT of them in different countries. But what they DO serve scores high on "Quality". Since I will always prefer good food to a lot of choices, this one is a winner.
Spot on, pun intented. The hotel is clean and the rooms are nice.
Now let's move to the things, that should be better in my opinion.
During our 12 day stay we had 2-3 shows that entertained. All other evenings a DJ took the stage playing some background music for 2 hours. That's not entertainment.
The hotel is multi-level, with some of the facilities located on different levels. For instance, there's a pool on ground level with a pool bar. There is another bar and pool at (I think) the 6th floor. And another pool on the 7th. However, would you be at the higher located pool and would you like a cup of coffee? Go fish! You'll need to go to the poolbar at ground level.
One evening an entire section of the seats on the terrace was blocked off for hotel guest, since Nereo decided to reserve it for people from outside the hotel. Although Nereo feels like a part of the hotel, this causes the guest to definitely not feel a part of Nereo.
So when you finally make it to the lower bar and order a coffee? Depends. Are you a UNIQUE guest? They'll gladly make you a coffee. Oh you're "regular" AI? You're redirected to the self service coffee machine. This causes AI guests who pay more than enough feel like inferior guests, which at all times need to be avoided. Oh would you like a frappe or a special coffee? Bring you money, cause the AI concept won't cover it.
I get that not every drink on the menu should or can be all inclusive and a selection needs to be made, but this is simply a joke. Cocktail wise, you can choose from a few cocktails that are all made by a machine. Want a cocktail the bartender makes? You'll need to pay. Are you a whisky lover? Nice, you have 1 terrible local whisky to drink, ALL others will be have to be paid. Want a simple mix like a Aperol Spritz? Bring your wallet. From all of the all-inclusive hotels we visited (on the Canaries, Balaeren, Turkey, Egypt, Mexico and many more) this AI menu give "minimalistic" a new meaning.
We are very active travelers who miss lunch more than we enjoy it, because we're not at the resort around that time. That means we pay for a lunch we don't use, and that's 100% our own choice. It's made up however if you can relax during the evening and enjoy drinks of your liking. In this case however, I could have just as easily spent every evening at a place outside the hotel and pay for my drinks there.
Concluding, Corallium does more things good or great than they do bad, but the things that don't add up hit hard on the level of feeling appreciated as a guest of the hotel.
Had a great stay. It was our first time in Gran Canaria. Hotel located opposite the beach, just want we wanted. Plenty of Sunbeds around the pool area. We had upgraded to a Unique Solarium room. Enjoyed the sea view from our room, and free water replaced everyday. Drinks and snacks in the Unique lounge. Lovely staff - Arinegua and Evelyn in the unique lounge and Racquel and Camilla at the spa where I had 2 great massage treatments. As per some of the other comments there was loud music from the bars opposite, but didn’t bother us once the patio door was shut. Our room overlooked the hotel stage but the music mostly finished around 10.30pm. Hope to visit again.
We went all inclusive, there is also all inclusive premium and Unique. The all inclusive food was second rate, like something you would get at a budget hotel. Breakfast opens at 07.00 so the food has been cooked the night before the cooks arrive about 08. 00. I say cooks not chef, because no chef would allow such food to be presented to customers. Eggs burnt around the outside, scrabbled egg one solid mass, bacon reheated so burnt on top and all stuck together, if you like an hash brown, well they are put out with your evening meal. The presentation of food is very poor and you will be very surprised at the lack of choice. All food is presented in small dishes so you get cross contamination as the dishes are behind each other, ladels and tongs are used in any order.
