Comfortable stay at the LOPESAN BAOBAB RESORT
It’s pretty much what you expect from a Hotel of this rating. We opted for the unique experience which i think is well worth paying the extra for as it gives you the access to the room on the 6th floor for lunch time sandwiches and Drinks up until 18:30. Also the breakfast room with waiter service. Another point of the unique service is the exclusive pool, which if we didn’t have we would never get a lounger or umbrella. It’s absolutely horrendous as from 09:00 onwards all beds on the other pools are covered in towels, which always miffs me as there’s no one on it half the time , which i have always found selfish, but every one gets drawn into it. I also think i chose the wrong dates as it was half term for a lot of european schools, or maybe should have chosen adults only hotel. Staff are extremely accommodating and friendly, can’t be faulted. Situated perfectly for bars and restaurants as we had the Bed and breakfast option only. I get fed up with buffets.

Dissatisfaction
This is our 4 th visit , 3 times to Costa melonoras and earlier this year to the baobab . This visit we brought friends and family with us as we love your hotel . We were disappointed with this visit , I spent £15,000 plus on this holiday for us all . Usually we have no complaints but I have a few this time .. staff on reception ( a woman in particular) was extremely rude and 2 occasions and even rolled her eyes at me for walking to her desk as her colleague asked me to ! There was 7 of us and we wanted to be together around the pool / subbed area , this was impossible as there was only the odd bed free here and there , our holiday was spoilt as normally we’d get up leisurely and go for breakfast , chat and not rush , then go to the room to collect bags & towels then go to do some sunbathing . We are all extremely busy people with hectic lives and had to resort to setting an alarm to get up early and go put towels out to get beds together !! Then we had to rush breakfast and take turns staying by the beds so we didn’t get j to trouble by the towel police !! We then usually go for a little lunch and return to our sunbeds , this too was difficult and made our days stressful and not at all relaxing and carefree which is what holidays are all about . Not to mention the notices put on the beds when left unattended , on 1 occasion we got one when we went swimming ! This spoilt our holiday .
We also found quite a few oc the staff ( reception , waiting staff ) quite rude and unfriendly . This is a first for us as we usually recommend this hotel to all our friends , I don’t know why this visit was different but very unfriendly staff we seen this holiday . We were disappointed as we’d given a glowing report to our family and friends who came with us and felt bad because they too saw the staff’s disrespectful manner and the having to set an alarm to get up early while on holiday was just not good enough !! We have never reserved beds in the past and don’t agree with people doing it but if we didn’t we simply didn’t get any beds , one day we got a few in 3 areas as near as we could and moved 2 to be closer to our family , a very rude woman from the sandy pool bar area came over and raised her voice saying move them Not allowed ! To where we have no idea as the whole area was packed , so we just left and went to the beach , something we’ve never done in the past . We also asked for extra pillows and matress toppers as the bed was too hard for us ( 2 of the 3 rooms ) after 2 days of it not being done we had to ask again , the. They did and it was much better . So overall I was feeling stressed and not as relaxed and happy as we’ve been on our previous stays , which is a shame as we’ve visited 4 times and spent over £35,000 with you in holidays not taking into the money we’ve spent in the bars etc & think we deserve better treatment than what we received . Will we return ??? Sadly maybe not …

Impressive structure, decor and fittings, Very attentive staff, lots of wood- and smells of the woods used A bit like the Polynesian Resort at Disney, but more real Better to eat out at surrounding nearby restaurants- only stay in hotel for breakfast- which was v good, dinner not so good

Stunning hotel with African theme, great location, needs an adult-only pool.
This is a stunning African themed hotel with bamboo just about everywhere and a few flamingos too. It is classy, and elegant in design. There are a lot of stairs, and walkways so maybe not so suitable for those with walking issues, but great for those that like an evening stroll around the beautiful grounds. The surrounding area is also quite classy with designer shops and an abundance of restaurants, and a few bars. It is just a 5 to 8 minute walk from the hotel to the lighthouse and sea front area.
We did not know it was European school holidays the week we had chosen, so there were far more children than we had expected, and so it was a bit noisy. There are about 5 or 6 pools, but none were 'adult-only' which is a big shame as there are lots of couples staying as well as families. The 'Volcan' pool became our favourite pool as they did not allow any inflatables which kept the noise levels right down.
There is a 2-tier system at this hotel which we were not aware of. This means that some sunbeds are reserved for 'Unique guests' who have upgraded, but we still found a sunbed by the pool each day. The first few days we found beds well after 10 am, but once the European school holidays started, we had to reserve a bed before breakfast at about 9 am. The pool bar service was generally very efficient but there were not enough staff serving you drinks at the sunbeds. The staff here are generally very friendly and helpful though.
The buffet breakfast was fine for the first two days and was quiet at about 10 am, but by the end of the holiday it was quite unpleasant with lots of queues. The food was good, but there were not enough choices for me when it comes to fresh fruit, nuts, and pastries. I have had much better buffets elsewhere, but it was perfectly adequate. We did not eat in the restaurants for lunch or dinner, but it seemed to be mainly buffet for those that had chosen that option. The two hotel shops were excellent, especially the hotel supermarket shop that sold everything you could think you might need and more. They sold drinks, ice cream, food, snacks, sun creams, alcohol, etc., so perfect if you wanted a drink or snack on your balcony early evening.
There was also evening entertainment provided by the hotel, which is really good for all the families. Some of the acts were excellent, but the Queen Tribute evening was awful. The band were great, but the lead singer did not seem to know the words, which is a bit odd for a tribute band!
The room was lovely as we had not upgraded, but it was still a big room with partial sea views and was very clean. My only frustration is that I am quite a tall lady and yet I could not reach the wardrobe hangers as they were so high. The room designer must have been 6 or 7 feet tall! So next time you refurbish the rooms please can you consider the wardrobe hanging height. There were no full-length mirrors either. We asked for an iron at least 5 times before one was delivered, so after that we just left notes in Spanish using google translate for the person servicing the room if we needed anything and that worked better. The light switches were also in weird places so again these could be more logically placed.
The hotel is very committed to sustainability, which is great. However, this does mean you will only get one pool towel, and you can only change it once a day at certain times. So, if you like to have extra towels you may want to bring an extra one yourselves.
All in all, we had a really lovely holiday. We would definitely come back to this resort, and we would also come back to this hotel too. The Lopesan group seem to own a lot of hotels here in the Meloneras area, so maybe we will try out a sister hotel too.

We had wonderful vacation with the kids
We had great vacation, all staff was very nice and helpful. The whole African style is amazing and beautiful. Akara restaurant was so nice!
Will be better if: The walls in our toilet would be cleaner and also the corners in our room. Will be definitely happy to go there again.
