Maspalomas Princess

We had an excellent stay at the hotel. It’s very modern, immaculately clean and staff were great. The pools and aqua park are fantastic. Food is lovely. One of the best all inclusive hotels I have ever been to.

As a family of 8 adults and 4 children we are sat in the airport waiting to go home after a 2 week stay.

First off, the Hotel is 2 Hotels together, that all guests can use - sharing restaurant / pool areas etc. quite a good set up in that regard. We stayed in the maspalomas princess side, the other is the Tabaiba.

The good - The outside of the hotel, reception area is immaculate. Really nice and open and pleasant. The bar staff, restaurant staff were all lovely and can’t fault them at all. We also really enjoyed the kids mini disco and evening entertainment. Yes there was a lot of miming of some of them, but they also had outside acts come in who were really good! We stayed at the Riu up the road previously and the entertainment wasn’t as good there. The main disco entertainment area is in the side we stayed in, and the other side is a quieter more chilled side, usually with a singer on also. There was plenty of pool side beds, although if you wanna be right by the pool you have to get up early. And if you leave your towels on the beds without anyone being there, the pool guy WILL remove all your stuff. The pool area is clean and tidy and well kept by pool staff. There is also multiple pools, and the big one we used didn’t allow balls or inflatables (which was actually good as the middle pool which does allow it, was like the Wild West lol!)
Adult only section was good! Can book big comfy beds for €25 but it’s first come first serve.

The Bad :

Rooms were really not good. Smashed flooring as you walked in. Lights flickering, smashed bathroom tiles, sockets falling off the wall. Beds were absolutely shocking, stiff, feel every spring and you get one long skinny pillow (not good) also, down the side of the side draws, there was a big bundle of previous guests hair and dust 🤢 despite complaining multiple times about it, it was never cleaned and was still there to our last day. Multiple times our room just wasn’t cleaned. Had to go to reception to get clean towels. And the aircon was rubbish. It was 30+ degrees outside. We like to go into your room and it be really cold. It’s the only relief you get from the heat. We complained multiple times and were told that by law they don’t have to go lower than 18 degrees and that was that .

Online it says you can request late check out. We asked the day before (as we were told too) and were told we couldn’t have one as none available. We had 4 kids to get sorted for a 5:30pm pickup. Once we pushed and pushed the reception lady, suddenly one of our rooms was available to keep till 6pm .. paid for of corse. Reception staff not helpful at all to be honest.

All in all we had a good holiday, but I probably wouldn’t return. If you have booked up don’t get too worried - the rooms are liveable, just not up to the standard we expected and enough to put us off returning. (Pics attached) Room 0149 ground floor, but we had 4 rooms and they were ALL the same.

So let’s start with the bad.

No air conditioning at reception and no welcome drinks. And boy was it hot and we were thirsty Only two out of three desks open to receive arrivals so made to wait in the heat without a drink after a long journey. Just wanted to get to our room and have a meal. Room was tired and certainly not 4* standard. AC rubbish, just made a really annoying noise. Flooring is damaged in a few areas in our room Toilet seat broken Safe had “low battery” All sockets were not secured correctly and pulled away from the wall when removing appliances. Shower hose had blown

NO coffee in room. NO replenishment of water after the first bottle. NO replenishment of tea or milk either. This is unusual for a Princess as the Suite Princess gives you daily water and tea and coffee replenishment.

After three complaints, the batteries were replaced in the safe, the air conditioning was made slightly cooler and the shower hose replaced.

I am a guest, I should not have to supply a snagging list for our room. 2001 by the way.

Lifts were awful and kept breaking down and were always slow.

Nighttime ents were crap. Beyond belief. Mainly in house miming. Walked away most nights.

The Italian and Asian “special dining” were anything but. Worst pizza I have ever tasted. Poor service and even worse reception experience. We’re were early but kept standing in the heat. Felt as though we were an inconvenience all night. There are not enough staff in either.

Good stuff.
Pool area. Pool bars. Pool cafes. Cleanliness of pol areas. Availability of sun-beds. Food in main restaurant, service and available tables.

Overall we won’t go again. Main Food and pools great. Special dining, room standards and reception appalling, shame as this is not normal for the Princess chain.
